Short answer: Choose the refreshed Bajaj Pulsar 125 if you value stronger published performance, a 5-inch navigation-capable TFT, ride modes and Crawl Tech. Choose the Hero Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 if your priority is a practical commuter package with a five-speed gearbox, hazard lights, Bluetooth alerts, USB Type-C charging and Hero’s higher published mileage claim. Neither is a proven real-world mileage winner because no independent, like-for-like test is available.
There is an important date issue: Bajaj announced a substantially updated Pulsar 125 on 24 August 2026, but its current product page still shows older specifications. Match the model year, variant and quotation date before paying a booking amount.

Why the Pulsar 125 has a model-year trap
“Pulsar 125” currently refers to more than one specification set. Bajaj’s August 2026 anniversary release describes an all-new version with a 124.58 cc engine, 12 PS, 11 Nm, a diamond-type frame, a nitrogen gas-charged emulsion monoshock, a 5-inch TFT and three ride modes. The same release announced an introductory ₹92,900 ex-showroom Delhi price.
Bajaj’s live product page, however, still displays 124.4 cc, 11.8 PS at 8,500 rpm, an 11.5-litre tank, twin gas rear shocks and standard USB charging, with a displayed price of ₹92,341 ex-showroom Delhi. Those page values may represent the earlier model or a page that has not yet been fully updated. Do not combine the older page’s engine and suspension numbers with the refreshed version’s TFT and ride-mode equipment as though they belong to one trim. Check the VIN/model year, variant name and written dealer quotation.
The two official prices differ by ₹559 and are both ex-showroom Delhi figures. The launch number was introductory; the product-page figure is a current page snapshot that can change. Registration, insurance, taxes, accessories and local fees will make the on-road amount different in every city.
Engine and riding performance
What the refreshed Pulsar specification promises
The refreshed Pulsar 125 launch specification lists 124.58 cc and a claimed peak of 12 PS at 8,000 rpm, with 11 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Bajaj also announced a new gearbox, new diamond-type frame and a nitrogen gas-charged emulsion monoshock. On paper, that gives the Pulsar a performance-oriented edge over the Hero’s published power figure, particularly for riders who regularly use open roads or carry a passenger.
Bajaj describes the Pulsar as a motorcycle with a performance identity. At the launch, Sarang Kanade, Chief Business Officer of Bajaj Auto’s Two-wheeler Business Unit, called it “the first taste of performance for generations of riders.” That is a company promotional statement, not an independent road assessment.

What the Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 specification promises
Hero lists a 124.7 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 10.7 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 10.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The five-speed constant-mesh gearbox gives the rider an additional ratio for keeping the engine in a comfortable range during city and highway transitions. Hero’s 27 May 2026 launch release and current product page carry the same output and torque figures.
The numerical gap should not be treated as a guaranteed road-speed difference. PS and bhp are different units, the manufacturers may use different test and rounding conventions, and no independent head-to-head dyno or acceleration test is supplied. Treat the figures as a useful specification guide: the Pulsar is the higher-output design on paper, while the Hero is tuned and equipped as a commuter.

Hero’s current product page states 75 kmpl and says the figure comes from a government-certified agency test report. The same page warns that actual mileage varies with riding conditions. Hero’s 27 May 2026 launch release stated 72 kmpl instead. Both are attributed Hero claims from different documents; neither is a promise of what every owner will achieve.
The refreshed Pulsar launch release does not provide a comparable mileage figure. Because the available material contains no independent, like-for-like test of the two current models, it is not responsible to declare the Pulsar or Hero the real-world mileage winner. Traffic, tyre pressure, rider weight, speeds, gradients, fuel quality, service condition and use of a pillion can move consumption substantially.
How to compare economy during your own test
- Fill both motorcycles at the same station and record the odometer or trip reading.
- Ride each on a similar route at similar times, including the traffic conditions you normally face.
- Refuel to the same level, record litres added and calculate kilometres divided by litres.
- Repeat for at least two tanks; one short ride can be distorted by traffic, idling or an inaccurate fill.
Use the result to estimate your personal running cost, while keeping Hero’s 75 kmpl and 72 kmpl figures labelled as test/report claims rather than expected mileage.

Display, navigation and connected functions
Pulsar 125: more information and rider modes
The refreshed Pulsar’s headline change is a 5-inch TFT console with Google Maps mirroring and navigation. Bajaj also lists document storage, live call and message alerts and music controls. Three ride modes—Road, Rain and Sport—let the rider select the mode intended for the prevailing conditions. Crawl Tech is another announced feature; the release does not define every operating condition, so ask the dealer to demonstrate it on the exact variant.
Integrated start-generator technology (ISG) is announced for the top three variants, not necessarily every Pulsar 125. Confirm the trim before assuming the TFT, ISG or all connected functions are included.
Super Splendor XTEC 2.0: commuter-focused convenience
Hero’s listed equipment includes a digital meter, Bluetooth call and SMS alerts, hazard lights, USB Type-C charging, an engine-kill switch and LED headlamp. Silent start with ISG and Hero’s i3S start-stop system are intended to reduce starter noise and limit unnecessary idling. These features address daily commuting rather than navigation-heavy touring.
Neither manufacturer’s cited material establishes phone compatibility limits, data charges, map-update policy or waterproofing ratings for the displays. Verify those details during a showroom demonstration and ask whether the supplied cable, software pairing and charging port are covered for the chosen variant.
Chassis, comfort and rider fit
Suspension and road clearance
Bajaj’s refreshed release specifies a new diamond-type frame and nitrogen gas-charged emulsion monoshock. Bajaj’s current product page still lists twin gas rear shocks, which is another reason to inspect the actual motorcycle rather than rely on a generic Pulsar 125 page.

Hero’s official specifications list 170 mm of ground clearance and a 788 mm seat height. That combination is useful for riders who need speed-breaker clearance while still wanting a seat that is approachable for many urban users. Hero specifies a 12-litre fuel tank.
The refreshed Pulsar release does not provide a complete seat-height, ground-clearance or tank-capacity set in the cited material. Bajaj’s current page lists an 11.5-litre tank, but that value belongs to the page’s older/different specification set. Measure reach to the floor and check clearance on the exact bike at the dealer.
Brakes and weight
Hero offers a front disc or front drum option with a rear drum brake. Its listed curb weights are 121 kg for the disc-drum version and 122 kg for the drum-drum version. The brochure extract appears to contain a typo for the drum-drum figure, so confirm the final weight in the current variant brochure or dealer documentation before using it to compare portability.
The supplied refreshed-Pulsar release does not establish a complete brake-size, kerb-weight or wheelbase comparison. Do not infer those values from an older online listing. During a test ride, check lever feel, low-speed balance, turning effort, suspension response over a speed breaker and whether your feet reach the ground comfortably.

Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 pricing
The reviewed Hero product page provides specifications and a dealer-enquiry route but does not expose a fixed ex-showroom price in the captured content. Request the current price for your city and for the exact front-disc or front-drum configuration. Compare on-road totals, not just headline ex-showroom numbers.
Do not rely on an older comparison price
A September 2026 third-party comparison page listed ₹92,990 for a Pulsar 125 and ₹84,448 for the Hero, but its Pulsar details appear to describe an earlier specification. Those figures are not a like-for-like current comparison against Bajaj’s August 2026 refresh. Use such pages only as historical context and obtain current manufacturer or dealer quotations.
Which bike fits each type of buyer?
Choose the refreshed Pulsar 125 when…
- You want the higher manufacturer-claimed output: 12 PS and 11 Nm.
- A colour TFT with Google Maps mirroring, navigation, alerts and music controls matters to you.
- You like selectable Road, Rain and Sport modes and want the announced Crawl Tech feature.
- Your riding includes faster arterial roads and you prefer a sportier character to a purely utilitarian setup.
- You are willing to verify the exact variant because the feature list and the current product page are crossing a model-update boundary.
Choose the Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 when…
- Your daily use is predominantly commuting and you value straightforward controls.
- Hazard lights, Bluetooth call/SMS alerts, USB Type-C and LED lighting are more useful than map mirroring.
- You specifically want a five-speed gearbox and a 788 mm seat height with 170 mm ground clearance.
- You prefer to evaluate a manufacturer-published economy target of 75 kmpl (or the 72 kmpl launch claim) while accepting that actual mileage varies.
- You want a front-disc or front-drum choice and can obtain a clear local quote for the chosen trim.
Test-ride checklist for a meaningful decision
- Confirm identity: Photograph the variant badge, model year and vehicle-identification details on each motorcycle.
- Verify equipment: On the Pulsar, check that the TFT, navigation mirroring, ride modes and ISG are fitted to the quoted trim. On the Hero, pair Bluetooth, test the USB Type-C port and operate the hazard switch.
- Assess fit: Sit in your normal riding position, place both feet down, turn the bars fully and check pillion knee and grab-rail comfort.
- Ride representative roads: Include a rough patch, a speed breaker, stop-start traffic and an open stretch. Observe clutch effort, gear spacing, steering weight, braking and heat.
- Check practical details: Ask about service intervals, parts availability, warranty terms, roadside assistance, software updates and the cost of consumables. The cited material does not establish warranty or dealer-support terms, so get them in writing.
- Compare final totals: Have both dealers print an itemised on-road quotation for the same date and insurance assumptions.
Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
- Mixing old and new Pulsar figures: Keep Bajaj’s August 2026 release and current product-page data in separate notes until the dealer confirms the exact motorcycle.
- Calling a claimed mileage figure “real mileage”: Label 75 kmpl and 72 kmpl as Hero’s published figures and conduct your own repeat tank-to-tank check.
- Comparing ex-showroom prices with on-road prices: Include registration, insurance and local taxes before deciding that one bike is cheaper.
- Assuming top-variant technology is standard: Pulsar ISG is announced for the top three variants; equipment can vary. Inspect the delivered trim.
- Ignoring brake and weight variants: The Hero’s front-disc and front-drum versions differ in listed curb weight; test the version you would actually buy.
- Using a stale web listing: The Pulsar’s 2026 refresh means older specification tables can be misleading. Prefer dated manufacturer documents and a current dealer quotation.
Verdict: know which is better for your priorities
On published specifications, the refreshed Bajaj Pulsar 125 is the stronger choice for performance and display technology: its launch claim is 12 PS and 11 Nm, and its announced equipment includes a 5-inch TFT with Google Maps mirroring, ride modes and Crawl Tech. The Hero Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 is the more evidently commuter-focused package, pairing a five-speed gearbox with hazard lights, Bluetooth alerts, USB Type-C, silent start/i3S and a 75 kmpl current-page claim (72 kmpl in the launch release).
The final decision should follow a verified, like-for-like quote and test ride. Confirm which Pulsar specification your dealer is selling, obtain the Hero’s city price, and compare the exact variants’ brakes, equipment, finance and service terms. That process matters more than a small difference between two headline ex-showroom figures.
