For most buyers who want documented technology and the stronger published mileage estimates, the Honda SP125 is the better fit. Choose the Bajaj Pulsar 125 if you prefer its styling and variant character or place more value on the higher power figure shown in the specifications. The two motorcycles are close-displacement 125cc commuters, but they differ in equipment, pricing, and positioning. Your final decision should use current, same-city quotations for the exact trims and a back-to-back test ride.
Quick verdict: which 125cc motorcycle suits you?
The Honda SP125 has the clearer equipment advantage on paper. Honda’s 2025 update documents a TFT instrument display, Bluetooth connectivity with RoadSync navigation and voice assist, USB Type-C charging, LED lighting, and an idling-stop system. Honda’s published mileage figures are also higher in the two comparison sources available here.

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 counters with a higher peak power figure in the manufacturer data, a larger 11.5-litre fuel tank, a standard USB charging port on the current product page, and a design and variant feel that many buyers may prefer. It is not an inferior choice; it is the more straightforward option when styling, power output, or a particular Pulsar trim matters more than connected features.

Specifications compared
| Specification | Bajaj Pulsar 125 | Honda SP125 |
|---|---|---|
| Engine displacement | 124.4cc, according to Bajaj’s current product page | 124cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine, according to Honda’s 2025 launch release |
| Published peak power | 8.68kW (11.8PS) at 8,500rpm | 8kW |
| Published peak torque | Not stated on the cited current product page | 10.9Nm |
| Gearbox | Not stated in the cited comparison evidence | Five-speed |
| Fuel tank | 11.5 litres | Not stated in the cited evidence |
| Connectivity and display | Standard USB charging port is shown on Bajaj’s current page; exact equipment varies by trim | 2025 update documents TFT, Bluetooth, RoadSync navigation, and voice assist; Honda’s current page distinguishes STD and DLX equipment |
| Lighting and stop-start equipment | Exact standard equipment depends on variant | LED headlamp and taillamp plus idling stop are listed for the 2025 update |
The displacement figures are rounded differently by the manufacturers: Bajaj states 124.4cc, while Honda describes the SP125 as 124cc. That difference is a specification convention, not a meaningful indication that one motorcycle belongs to a different class.

What the power figures mean in practice
Bajaj’s quoted 8.68kW (11.8PS) at 8,500rpm is higher than Honda’s published 8kW figure. On paper, that gives the Pulsar a numerical advantage in peak output. It does not establish acceleration, top speed, refinement, or overtaking performance because those also depend on gearing, kerb weight, aerodynamics, throttle calibration, and rider and load.
Honda publishes 10.9Nm of torque and a five-speed gearbox for the SP125. Bajaj’s cited current page does not provide a matching torque figure in the supplied specifications, so a like-for-like torque claim would be misleading. During a test ride, pay attention to low-speed smoothness, clutch effort, the ease of holding a steady urban pace, and how quickly each bike responds when carrying a passenger.
Price: why the available figures are not a direct match
Prices change with date, city, trim, tax treatment, and dealer charges. The figures below should be read as a documented snapshot, not as a current on-road comparison.

| Bajaj Pulsar 125 | ₹1,04,318 ex-showroom Delhi on Bajaj’s current product page, accessed 13 October 2026 | Current page figure; the exact variant designation and local availability must be confirmed with a dealer |
| Honda SP125 Drum | ₹91,771 ex-showroom Delhi | Honda’s 23 December 2024 launch table for the 2025 model |
| Honda SP125 Disc | ₹1,00,284 ex-showroom Delhi | Honda’s 23 December 2024 launch table for the 2025 model |
Honda’s launch prices are from December 2024, whereas the Bajaj figure is from a current page accessed in October 2026. Comparing the two as though they were same-day dealer prices would create a false conclusion. Before paying a booking amount, request an itemised quotation for the same city and identify the exact trim, ex-showroom price, registration, insurance, handling or logistics fees, accessories, and finance charges.
How to compare your real purchase cost
- Ask both dealers for written quotations dated the same day.
- Specify the exact variant: drum or disc for the SP125, and the precise Pulsar 125 trim being offered.
- Separate mandatory registration and statutory charges from optional insurance, accessories, extended warranties, and service packages.
- Compare the total on-road amount and the cash price before considering an instalment plan.
- Check the manufacturing month and the colour and equipment supplied before delivery.
A lower ex-showroom number can disappear once insurance, registration, dealer fees, or a more expensive trim are added. Conversely, a dealer discount or stock clearance can make the apparently costlier motorcycle the better local deal.
Mileage: use the estimates as a range, not a guarantee

| Source and method | Honda SP125 | Bajaj Pulsar 125 | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Autocar India user-reported comparison, accessed 2026 | 61.87kpl | 50.31kpl | User-reported figures, not a controlled laboratory or same-condition test |
| ZigWheels comparison, page updated 13 October 2026 | Claimed 63kmpl | Claimed 51.46kmpl | Publisher-listed claimed figures; conditions and test protocol are not equivalent to the Autocar figures |
Both sources put the SP125 ahead, but neither number should be treated as a guaranteed result for your commute. Traffic density, speed, tyre pressure, rider weight, passenger use, gradients, weather, fuel quality, engine run-in, and maintenance all affect consumption. Use the figures directionally: the Honda has the better documented efficiency expectation, while the Pulsar’s larger 11.5-litre tank may reduce refuelling frequency even if its consumption is lower.
How to measure mileage after purchase
- Fill the tank to the same level and record the odometer reading.
- Ride normally for at least two or three tanks rather than judging from a single short trip.
- Refill to the same level, record litres added and kilometres travelled, and calculate kilometres divided by litres.
- Keep tyre pressures, route mix, and riding style consistent when comparing the two motorcycles.
Features and technology
Honda SP125: the stronger documented technology package
Honda’s 23 December 2024 launch announcement describes the updated SP125 with a TFT display, Bluetooth integration, RoadSync navigation, voice assist, USB Type-C charging, LED headlamp and taillamp, and idling stop. RoadSync and voice functions require a compatible phone and the relevant pairing and app setup; availability and operation can depend on the phone and software.
Honda’s current product page separates STD and DLX equipment. The page indicates a digital meter and drum-brake configuration for STD, while DLX is associated with the TFT display and disc-brake equipment. Confirm the exact current naming, colour, stock, and feature list at the dealer because model-year pages and showroom inventory can change.

Bajaj Pulsar 125: simpler equipment, trim-specific details
Bajaj’s current Pulsar 125 page shows a standard USB charging port and lists the 124.4cc engine, 8.68kW output, and 11.5-litre tank. Bajaj’s FAQ attributes additional items, including a split seat and adjustable Nitrox shocks, to a Neon variant. Those details should not be treated as standard on every Pulsar 125.
Ask the dealer to demonstrate the charging port, instrument functions, seat arrangement, suspension adjustability, and brake hardware on the exact motorcycle you will receive. A brochure or website image may represent another trim.
Which technology matters to a commuter?
- Navigation and voice assist: useful if you regularly ride unfamiliar routes and want directions without mounting a separate device, but they add phone-pairing steps.
- USB-C charging: convenient for newer phones and cables; check whether your preferred cable fits and whether the port is protected from water and strain.
- Idling stop: can reduce unnecessary running during long pauses, but its benefit depends on how much time you spend in stop-and-go traffic.
- Basic USB charging: meets the simple need to top up a phone without the additional connected features.
- LED lighting: improves visibility and reduces the need to replace conventional bulbs, but alignment and real-world beam performance still deserve a night check.
Ride, comfort, and everyday practicality
The cited material does not establish a controlled comfort comparison or a universal service-cost winner. Seat shape, handlebar reach, foot-peg position, suspension response, vibration, and passenger space are personal and load-dependent. A short test ride is therefore more valuable than assuming that a specification table predicts comfort.

Test-ride checklist
- Can both feet reach the ground comfortably when you stop?
- Is the handlebar reach relaxed, with no wrist or shoulder strain?
- How easy is it to balance the bike through a tight U-turn?
- Does the clutch engage smoothly in first-gear traffic?
- Are mirrors usable with your normal riding posture?
- Can the passenger sit securely without crowding you?
- Do you notice excessive vibration through the grips, seat, or foot pegs at your usual cruising speed?
- Can you operate the display, indicators, horn, and charging port without taking attention away from the road?
Ride both motorcycles on the same roads, preferably with a short rough section, a stop-start stretch, and an open road. Test the exact trims you are pricing; equipment and seating details can change between variants.
Ownership checks before you decide
Service and dealer support
The available comparison evidence does not prove that either model has lower long-term service costs or better reliability. Ask your local authorised dealers for the service schedule, labour rates, consumable prices, warranty terms, roadside-assistance coverage, and typical parts lead times. The quality and convenience of the dealer nearest you may matter more than a small difference in headline specifications.
Variant and delivery verification
- Match the invoice, insurance proposal, and registration paperwork to the exact model and trim.
- Verify whether the motorcycle has a drum or disc front brake where relevant.
- Check that the display type, Bluetooth hardware, charging connector, seat design, and suspension equipment match the quoted variant.
- Inspect the tyre condition, panel fit, paint, lights, horn, controls, and odometer at delivery.
- Record the vehicle identification number and manufacturing month.
Connectivity setup on the SP125
- Confirm that your phone supports the required Bluetooth functions and install the applicable Honda connectivity application before relying on navigation.
- Pair the phone while stationary, grant only the permissions you are comfortable granting, and test calls, navigation prompts, and voice controls.
- Mount or store the phone securely; the motorcycle’s display does not remove the need to ride attentively.
- Test USB-C charging with your own cable before leaving the dealership.
Which motorcycle is better for different buyers?
| Buyer priority | Better starting point | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum documented connected equipment | Honda SP125 | TFT, Bluetooth/RoadSync, navigation, voice assist, USB-C, and LED equipment are listed for the 2025 update |
| Best published mileage expectation | Honda SP125 | Both cited comparison sources report higher figures than for the Pulsar 125, though neither is a controlled same-condition test |
| Higher quoted peak power | Bajaj Pulsar 125 | 8.68kW (11.8PS) at 8,500rpm versus Honda’s published 8kW |
| Large fuel tank | Bajaj Pulsar 125 | Bajaj lists an 11.5-litre tank; a comparable Honda figure is not stated in the cited evidence |
| Preference for Pulsar styling or trim character | Bajaj Pulsar 125 | Personal design preference is a legitimate reason to choose it, provided the test ride and quotation suit you |
| Lowest apparent Delhi ex-showroom snapshot | Honda SP125 Drum | ₹91,771 in Honda’s December 2024 launch table, but the date is older than Bajaj’s current-page price and cannot be used as a current quote |
Common mistakes to avoid
- Mixing dates: treating a December 2024 launch price as though it were a current 2026 dealer price.
- Mixing trims: comparing a feature-rich SP125 DLX with a differently equipped Pulsar variant and calling the result a model-level verdict.
- Promising mileage: presenting 61.87kpl, 63kmpl, 50.31kpl, or 51.46kmpl as guaranteed personal consumption.
- Assuming every Pulsar has Neon equipment: split seats and adjustable Nitrox shocks are identified with a Neon variant in Bajaj’s FAQ, not universally on the model.
- Choosing by power alone: peak output does not predict low-speed smoothness, comfort, or ease of ownership.
- Ignoring local support: a convenient, transparent dealer and available parts can outweigh a small paper advantage.
Final buying process
- Shortlist the exact SP125 and Pulsar 125 trims available in your city.
- Take comparable test rides with the same rider and, if possible, the same passenger.
- Request same-day, itemised on-road quotations from both dealers.
- Compare the equipment actually fitted, not the broad model name.
- Check service access, warranty terms, and parts availability locally.
- Choose the motorcycle that fits your regular route and posture, then verify the pre-delivery inspection before registration.
On the evidence available, the Honda SP125 is the more rounded recommendation for a commuter who values connectivity and efficiency. The Bajaj Pulsar 125 remains a sensible alternative for a buyer who prefers its styling, wants the higher published power figure, or receives a clearly better local quotation. Neither motorcycle can be declared universally superior without matching the variant, city, date, rider, and priorities.
