These are manufacturer figures, not results from a controlled road test. Displacement and peak-output differences suggest a different specification balance, but they do not by themselves predict which motorcycle will feel faster, smoother or more economical on your route.

Engine and gearbox: what the numbers mean in daily use
Why the Platina’s extra displacement matters
The current Platina listing has the larger engine and the higher stated peak power and torque. On paper, that gives it more mechanical headroom for carrying a passenger, climbing an incline or maintaining speed into a headwind. The figures are recorded at the same stated engine speeds as Honda’s figures, which makes the specification comparison straightforward.
Do not turn that paper advantage into a promise of quicker acceleration. Rider weight, gearing, tyre condition, traffic, altitude, fuel quality and the calibration of each motorcycle affect the result. A short ride with both bikes on the same road is the only sensible way to judge throttle response, vibration and clutch effort.
What the fifth ratio changes
A five-speed transmission gives the Platina one more ratio to divide the engine’s work. That can let a rider keep the engine in a comfortable rev range when moving from congested streets to a faster section of road. It also adds another shift to learn and another opportunity for the ratios to feel unfamiliar if you are coming from a four-speed commuter.

The Livo’s four-speed gearbox is simpler in operation. Simplicity is not automatically inferior: many urban commutes involve frequent stops where an extra ratio is rarely needed. During the test ride, check whether either bike asks for repeated downshifts on your normal flyover, hill or two-up section rather than choosing from the gear-count headline alone.

Brakes, variants and the ABS confusion
Do not transfer the old Platina ABS specification
Older search results describe a Platina 110 ABS with a 240 mm front disc, single-channel ABS and a rear drum with CBS. Bajaj identifies that motorcycle as discontinued. The current product page used for this comparison is for the Platina 110 Drum, so the older ABS hardware must not be credited to every bike carrying the Platina 110 name.
Compare the Livo Drum and Disc as separate purchases
Honda’s January 20, 2025 launch release lists both Drum and Disc Livo variants. The Disc version may be the more appropriate starting point for a buyer who specifically wants a front disc, but the exact rotor, caliper and other equipment should be verified on the invoice and motorcycle at the dealer. Do not assume that every Livo in stock has identical braking hardware.
Safety checks before paying
- Read the variant name on the quotation, not just the family name.
- Confirm whether the motorcycle has a front disc, a drum or another braking specification.
- Ask how the side-stand engine cut-off operates on the Livo offered to you.
- Inspect the tyre sizes, manufacturing dates and visible brake condition on the actual unit.
- Take a low-speed stop and a firm, straight-line stop in a safe area; this is a check of control feel, not a braking-distance test.
Displays, comfort and the features you will notice every day
Honda’s information advantage
The 2025 Livo’s fully digital cluster is its clearest convenience distinction in the supplied specifications. It can show real-time mileage, distance to empty, service-due information, the selected gear and an Eco indicator. Those readouts can help a commuter monitor a changing route and remember maintenance without adding a phone mount or separate accessory.

Platina equipment and physical comfort
Bajaj’s current material highlights SnS rear suspension, a long quilted seat, hand guards, wide footpads and an LED daytime running light. These features address contact points and road-going convenience rather than adding information to the instrument panel. A long seat can help a rider and passenger settle into a familiar commute, but seat width, cushioning and suspension response are personal judgements.
On the test ride, pay attention to the first few kilometres rather than only the showroom impression. Check whether your knees remain relaxed, whether the handlebar makes slow U-turns easy, whether the foot position suits your footwear and whether the rear suspension settles without repeated bouncing over the roads you actually use.
Prices: why a local, dated quote is essential
Bajaj’s displayed prices are inconsistent
The current Bajaj product result labels its price as ex-showroom Delhi but displays both ₹75,797 and ₹69,714 on the same page. Because the figures conflict, neither should be presented as a settled current price for every Platina 110 Drum. Ask a Bajaj dealer to identify the trim, quotation date and city before comparing it with Honda.

Honda’s January 20, 2025 launch release states ex-showroom Delhi prices of ₹83,080 for the Livo Drum and ₹85,878 for the Livo Disc. They are launch figures from that release, not a guarantee of the price in 2026 or in another state. Registration, insurance, handling, accessories and local taxes can change the amount you actually pay.

Build an apples-to-apples quotation
- Request a written quote for the exact Platina 110 Drum or Livo trim, including the model year shown by the dealer.
- Ask for separate lines for ex-showroom price, registration, insurance, taxes, optional accessories and any finance charges.
- Obtain both quotes within a short period because manufacturers and dealers can revise prices or incentives.
- Check whether the quoted motorcycle is physically in stock and whether its manufacturing date affects your purchase decision.

Mileage: what is known and what is not
No comparable, independently measured real-world mileage figure was established for these two exact variants. Bajaj uses mileage-oriented promotional language, and Honda provides a real-time mileage display, but neither is a controlled head-to-head result. It would be misleading to name a fuel-economy winner or attach an unsourced km/l number to either motorcycle.
If running cost is your deciding factor, record fuel use yourself after purchase or compare owner reports only when the conditions are similar. Use the same fuel-pump method, route type, traffic level, average speed, rider and passenger load, tyre pressures and refuelling interval. Keep the figures labelled as personal or owner-reported rather than as an official comparison.

Consider the Platina 110 Drum when these priorities lead
- You value the listed five-speed gearbox for a commute that includes open roads as well as city traffic.
- The larger displacement and higher stated output are more important to you than a feature-rich display.
- The SnS rear suspension, quilted seat, hand guards and wide footpads fit your comfort expectations.
- Your local dealer can supply the current Drum variant at a competitive, clearly itemised on-road price.
This is a conditional choice based on listed equipment. It is not a claim that every rider will find the Platina faster, more comfortable or more economical.

- You prefer to choose between Drum and Disc versions after checking the exact stock unit.

The Livo’s listed advantages are convenience and choice of braking trim, not proof of superior performance or mileage.

How to test both motorcycles properly
- Arrange identical conditions. Ride the same day if possible, with similar fuel levels, and use the same rider and passenger load.
- Start in traffic. Evaluate clutch take-up, first-gear control, steering effort and heat management during repeated stops.
- Use a representative open section. Shift through the available gears and note engine noise, vibration and the effort needed to hold your usual cruising speed.
- Try your real passenger setup. A motorcycle that feels comfortable alone can change noticeably with a pillion and luggage.
- Check the controls and display. Make sure the switches, mirrors, foot position and information screen are easy to use while stationary and while riding safely.
- Inspect braking progressively. Make gentle, then firmer stops in a legal, clear area and compare lever feel and stability rather than trying to provoke a lock-up.
- Write down the variant and quote. Record the exact trim, manufacturing date, promised delivery date, warranty terms and total on-road amount before leaving.
Service, warranty and ownership checks
Dealer access can outweigh a small specification difference on a commuter motorcycle. Map the authorised workshop you would actually use, ask how far routine service appointments are booked in advance and check whether consumables and replacement parts are normally stocked. These are local questions; a national model name does not guarantee identical support in every city.
Honda’s official material surfaced a standard three-year/42,000 km warranty statement, but reconfirm the current terms, exclusions and service conditions for the purchase date and market. The supplied information does not establish an equivalent current Bajaj warranty term, so obtain that detail in writing instead of assuming the two policies match.
Ask both dealers what is included in the first services, which items are chargeable, how warranty claims are documented and whether roadside assistance is part of the offer. Retain invoices and service records, especially if you expect to sell the bike later.
