This article uses the current Bajaj listing identified as Platina 110 Drum. The page describes an electric-start, drum-brake commuter with a 115 cc-class engine. Do not treat specifications from an older or differently equipped Platina trim as proof of what a dealer has in stock today.

Splendor Plus, XTEC and XTEC 2.0 are separate variants
Hero’s product page presents standard Splendor+, Splendor Plus XTEC and Splendor Plus XTEC 2.0 as distinct variants. The comparison here is with Splendor Plus XTEC, not XTEC 2.0. A 2.0 badge, additional equipment or a different price should not be silently substituted into this matchup. Confirm the exact variant name on the quotation, insurance proposal and registration documents.
Engine and performance: why the Platina has the specification advantage
Published engine figures
Bajaj lists 115.06 cc and 6.99 kW (9.5 PS) at 7,500 rpm for the Platina 110 Drum. Hero lists 97.2 cc, 5.9 kW at 8,000 rpm and 8.05 Nm at 6,000 rpm for the Splendor Plus XTEC. The larger displacement and higher stated power give the Platina the stronger specification case for carrying a passenger, climbing with luggage or maintaining speed on faster sections.
Those numbers do not constitute a controlled performance test. The pages use different presentation conventions, and the current evidence does not provide comparable acceleration times, top-speed measurements, rolling-road results or hill-climb data. Expect the Platina to look stronger on paper; arrange a ride on your normal route before treating that advantage as a real-world result.

The Platina’s advertised five-speed gearbox has one more ratio than the XTEC’s four-speed constant-mesh unit. A closely spaced extra gear can let a rider keep the engine nearer its useful rev range when traffic speed changes, while a taller top gear may reduce revs during an open-road cruise. The exact benefit depends on gear ratios, final drive, rider load and road speed; neither manufacturer’s page supplies enough ratio data to quantify it.

The XTEC’s four-speed layout is mechanically simpler to operate for a rider who prefers fewer shifts. It is not evidence that the Hero is slow or inadequate; it simply gives the Platina a broader specification envelope.
Comfort and carrying a passenger
Platina 110 Drum equipment
Bajaj highlights a long, wide quilted seat, wider pillion footpads and SNS rear suspension. Those features address common commuter complaints—limited seating area, cramped passenger footing and rear-end harshness on broken roads. They are manufacturer descriptions, not independent proof of superior comfort. Seat firmness, handlebar reach and suspension response can feel very different at the same nominal dimensions.
Splendor Plus XTEC equipment
Hero describes an ergonomically designed seat and a five-step adjustable hydraulic rear shock absorber. Adjustment can help a rider tune rear preload for solo use or a heavier passenger, but the correct setting still depends on load and road conditions. Check whether the dealer demonstrates the adjustment and whether you can access it without special tools.

How to test comfort instead of guessing
- Set both motorcycles to their normal tyre pressures and sit in your usual riding position.
- Ride the same loop with a mix of speed breakers, patched asphalt, a smooth arterial and a short incline.
- Repeat the loop with the passenger who will actually use the bike; note footpeg room, seat movement and steering effort.
- Ask the dealer to explain the XTEC shock’s five settings and check the Platina’s rear suspension for unusual noise or leakage.
- Record pressure points after 20–30 minutes rather than deciding from a five-minute showroom ride.
This method produces a personal fit decision without claiming that either brochure feature guarantees a better ride for every rider.

If you want navigation-style information, call alerts or SMS prompts without reaching for your phone, the XTEC’s listed digital and Bluetooth equipment is the meaningful advantage. If you value hand protection, a tank guard and a straightforward commuter layout, the Platina’s listed hardware may matter more. Neither list establishes long-term reliability of the electronics; inspect the display in direct sunlight and ask about warranty handling for connectivity faults.
Fuel economy: why there is no defensible mileage winner here
Hero’s current page contains two different XTEC figures: its FAQ states 69 km/l, while other page material states 70 kmpl with E20 fuel. These numbers should be reported as presented rather than averaged. The current Bajaj page reviewed does not provide a directly comparable numeric mileage claim. A secondary comparison page reports 70 kmpl for both motorcycles, but that figure does not reconcile the conflicting Hero page entries or establish a controlled test.
Mileage varies with traffic, tyre pressure, rider weight, speed, maintenance, fuel blend and idling time. E20 compatibility and an advertised figure are not the same as a guaranteed tank-to-tank result. To compare your two shortlisted bikes, use the same fuel station, fill to the same level, reset the trip meter, ride a repeatable route and calculate distance divided by litres at the next refill. Keep at least three tanks of notes and record whether the route was mostly urban or open road.
Because the available evidence is inconsistent, choose between these motorcycles on engine, gearing, features, ergonomics and verified local pricing—not on a claimed one-kilometre-per-litre difference.

The Bajaj page’s two displayed prices conflict, so neither should be treated as a final payable amount without confirmation. The comparison-page figure is secondary and may differ by update timing, city or variant. All three are ex-showroom-style references, not on-road quotes that include registration, insurance, taxes, handling or accessories.
Use this dealer-quote checklist
- State your city and request a written quote dated the day you plan to book.
- Write the complete variant name: “Platina 110 Drum” or “Splendor Plus XTEC,” not only the family name.
- Separate ex-showroom price, registration, insurance, optional accessories, extended warranty and any handling charge.
- Ask whether the quoted motorcycle is the current model year and whether its fuel-system and emissions specification matches the registration documents.
- Compare two dealers’ on-road totals, then verify the chassis and engine numbers on the invoice before payment.
On the published figures alone, the Platina appears less expensive than the XTEC, but the Bajaj inconsistency means “which bike is cheaper” cannot be answered responsibly without a same-day local quote.

Do not describe the current Platina 110 Drum as an ABS motorcycle solely because Bajaj issued a 2022 launch release about an ABS-equipped Platina. The current product page reviewed is specifically for the drum-brake variant, and the supplied evidence does not establish that an ABS trim is currently available in every market. Ask the dealer to identify the exact braking system on the vehicle you will receive and check the specification sheet before booking.
Bajaj’s December 21, 2022 release quotes Sarang Kanade, President, Motorcycles, Bajaj Auto: “Our internal studies involving riding conditions shows that atleast 91% commuter motorcycle riders face at least one panic braking scenario in a month.” This is Bajaj’s statement about its internal studies, with the original spelling and grammar; it is not an independently verified 91% statistic. Treat braking hardware, tyre condition and rider training as separate safety decisions.

Choose the Platina 110 Drum when these priorities lead
- You want the larger 115.06 cc engine and the higher published 9.5 PS output figure.
- You expect frequent passenger use, inclines or open-road commuting where an additional gear could be useful.
- You prefer a long quilted seat, wider pillion footpads and the equipment Bajaj lists for commuter comfort.
- You do not need Bluetooth call/SMS alerts or a full digital meter.
- A local dealer confirms an attractive on-road price for the exact Drum variant.
Choose the Splendor Plus XTEC when these priorities lead
- A digital instrument display is more important than displacement.
- You want Bluetooth call and SMS alerts, i3S and a real-time mileage indicator as listed by Hero.
- You value a five-step rear-shock adjustment and find its seat position more comfortable in your test ride.

Answers to common buyer wording
Which offers better performance? On published specifications, the Platina has the stronger case because it has more displacement, a higher stated power figure and five gears. No controlled test in the available evidence proves a real-world performance winner.
Which is cheaper? The available price references suggest the Platina may cost less, but Bajaj’s page shows two different Delhi ex-showroom figures and the XTEC figure is secondary. Obtain matching, dated on-road quotes.
Which is best overall? There is no universal winner. Select the Platina for engine and gearing; select the XTEC for digital connectivity and alerts. If comfort decides the purchase, test both with your actual passenger.

The Bajaj Platina 110 Drum is the better specification-led choice for a commuter who wants a 115.06 cc engine, published 9.5 PS output, five-speed transmission and the seat, footpad and suspension features Bajaj emphasizes. The Hero Splendor Plus XTEC is the better feature-led choice for a rider who wants a full digital meter, Bluetooth call/SMS alerts, i3S and a real-time mileage display.
Neither motorcycle earns a mileage, comfort, reliability or ownership-cost victory from the available evidence. Resolve the price discrepancy with a dated dealer quote, keep XTEC separate from XTEC 2.0, and make the final decision after riding both on the roads and with the passenger load you actually expect.
