Choose the Hero if access to ethanol blends from E20 to E85 is your deciding requirement. Choose the Bajaj if its larger engine, higher published peak output and confirmed 11-litre tank better match your priorities. Before paying, verify the exact variant, local on-road price, fuel availability and service support; the available manufacturer pages do not provide a controlled mileage, acceleration or ownership-cost comparison.
What exactly is being compared?
The comparison is between Bajaj Auto’s current Platina 110 Drum listing and Hero MotoCorp’s dedicated HF Deluxe Flex Fuel model. They are not the same as comparing the Platina with the regular HF Deluxe. Hero maintains a separate standard HF Deluxe page, and its specifications or claimed 72 kmpl figure should not be transferred to the flex-fuel motorcycle.

Bajaj’s current product page identifies the motorcycle as the Platina 110 Drum and lists a 115.06 cc engine. Hero’s dedicated page and June 2026 company release identify the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel as a 97.2 cc motorcycle designed for ethanol blends. Your dealer may display a different trim, colour or model year, so match the invoice and chassis documentation to the variant in this article.

Official specifications are useful for establishing what each manufacturer claims. They do not, by themselves, prove that one motorcycle accelerates faster in traffic, returns better mileage, rides more comfortably or costs less to own. Those outcomes depend on rider weight, traffic, tyre pressures, fuel blend, maintenance, road conditions and local prices.

Quick specification comparison
| Specification | Bajaj Platina 110 Drum | Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine displacement | 115.06 cc | 97.2 cc | Manufacturer-published capacities; no independent same-condition test. |
| Maximum power | 6.99 kW (9.5 PS) at 7,500 rpm | 6.3 kW at 8,000 rpm with E85 | The Hero figure is specified with E85 and should not be assumed unchanged for every blend. |
| Maximum torque | 9.9 Nm at 5,500 rpm | 8.3 Nm at 6,000 rpm with E85 | Peak values do not predict the complete torque curve or ride feel. |
| Fuel capability stated on the cited page | No flex-fuel range stated on the retrieved Platina page | E20 to E85 compatibility stated by Hero | Do not infer that E85 is available at your nearest station. |
| Fuel tank | 11 litres | Not confirmed for the Flex Fuel variant in the cited dedicated material | Do not substitute the regular HF Deluxe’s tank specification. |
| Published price | ₹75,797 Delhi ex-showroom starting price | No directly comparable current price confirmed in the cited material | Ask for an exact local on-road quote for the motorcycle you will register. |
The 115.06 cc versus 97.2 cc difference is 17.86 cc, but displacement alone does not reveal gearing, compression, kerb weight or usable torque. The quoted Hero output is explicitly an E85 specification, while the Bajaj figures are presented on its product page without a flex-fuel qualification. Keep those fuel contexts beside the numbers whenever you compare dealer brochures.

Why the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel is different
E20–E85 compatibility
Hero says the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel is “Fully compatible with ethanol flex-fuel blends ranging from E20 to E85.” That is the model’s defining advantage in this comparison. The company says it revised the ECU and upgraded fuel-system components for flex-fuel operation. The June 2026 release also lists a digi-analogue instrument cluster, side-stand engine cut-off and tubeless tyres.

E20 contains 20% ethanol and E85 can contain up to 85%; the label at the pump matters because blend composition affects what the engine is being asked to use. Hero’s statement establishes the designed range, not a promise that every blend within it will deliver identical power, starting behaviour or consumption. Do not assume that a fuel outside the stated E20–E85 range is covered, and check the owner’s manual for the approved fuel and storage guidance.
Compatibility is not the same as guaranteed access. E20 is widely relevant where petrol contains 20% ethanol, while E85 contains up to 85% ethanol. The actual blend sold at a station can vary by location and supply. Call stations along your regular route and confirm the labelled fuel before choosing the Hero specifically for E85 use. Running a flex-fuel bike on a lower blend does not create a reason to assume the E85 output figures apply.
Hero’s performance and emissions claims
On its official HF Deluxe Flex Fuel page, Hero advertises 7% higher power and 3% higher torque with E85. It also reports a 77% reduction in carbon monoxide (CO), 14% reduction in total hydrocarbons (THC) and 40% reduction in non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC). These are company claims; the cited page does not provide a test protocol, baseline vehicle, laboratory conditions or independent validation. Treat them as stated product claims rather than as a head-to-head emissions result.
The percentages should also be read with their comparison context. They do not mean that every rider will see a 77% improvement in fuel economy or that the motorcycle produces no emissions. Ask the dealer which fuel the demonstration motorcycle contains, whether the ECU calibration is current and what warranty conditions apply to the flex-fuel hardware.

The Platina listing gives it a 17.86 cc displacement advantage over the 97.2 cc Hero. Its published maximum power is 9.5 PS (6.99 kW) at 7,500 rpm, compared with the HF Flex Fuel’s 6.3 kW at 8,000 rpm with E85. Published peak torque is 9.9 Nm at 5,500 rpm for the Platina and 8.3 Nm at 6,000 rpm with E85 for the Hero.

Those numbers make the Bajaj the paper leader for displacement and listed peak output. They do not establish a winner in overtaking, hill climbing or fuel economy. A motorcycle’s gearing, kerb weight, throttle mapping, rider load and torque delivery at everyday engine speeds matter as much as peak figures. A short test ride carrying the intended passenger or luggage is more informative than treating the table as a performance verdict.
Ask the salesperson to let you start both motorcycles from cold if possible. Note clutch take-up, throttle smoothness below the peak-power rev range, vibration through the grips and how easily each bike holds a steady speed in your normal traffic. These observations are practical checks, not substitutes for a controlled test, but they can expose a poor fit for your route or riding position.
Fuel economy: why a winner cannot be named
The regular HF Deluxe page separately advertises 72 kmpl, but that number is not identified as a result for the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel. Bajaj’s current Platina 110 page does not supply a numerical mileage result in the cited material. Therefore, these sources do not establish a directly comparable mileage winner.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If mileage is your main concern, record your own results after purchase using a repeatable method:
- Fill the tank to the same level and note the odometer reading.
- Use the same fuel type for several tanks; record whether it is labelled E20 or another blend.
- Ride a normal mix of your commute rather than one unusually light traffic trip.
- Refill to the same level, record litres added and distance travelled, then calculate kilometres divided by litres.
- Repeat for at least three tanks and keep tyre pressures and service condition consistent.
Do not compare one rider’s city result with another rider’s highway result, or an E85 figure with a petrol blend, and call the difference a model advantage. A heavy passenger, long idling periods, under-inflated tyres or a congested route can change the result substantially.
Ride and practicality considerations
Daily commuting
The Platina’s 11-litre tank is confirmed on Bajaj’s page and may reduce refuelling stops for a long commute, although actual range still depends on consumption. The HF Flex Fuel tank capacity is not confirmed in the dedicated material cited here, so ask the dealer for the specification printed for your exact variant rather than borrowing the regular HF Deluxe’s 9.6-litre figure.
For congested urban use, smooth low-speed fuelling, clutch effort, braking feel and turning radius are more relevant than peak power. During a test ride, check whether you can place both feet securely, whether the handlebar clears your knees, and whether the riding position remains comfortable after 30 minutes. Carry your usual helmet, bag or passenger if those factors affect your decision.
Consider parking and starting routines too. Check the steering lock, centre-stand effort and access to the fuel filler at the dealer. If you regularly ride before sunrise or after dark, inspect the switchgear and instrument readability rather than assuming two motorcycles with similar commuter roles will feel identical.

Equipment and safety checks
Hero’s June 2026 release specifically lists a digi-analogue instrument cluster, side-stand engine cut-off and tubeless tyres for its flex-fuel motorcycles. Confirm that the showroom motorcycle has those features and ask how the side-stand cut-off behaves before riding away. The cited Platina material establishes the model and tank capacity but does not provide a directly equivalent feature list for a like-for-like equipment score.
Check the actual brakes, lamp operation, switchgear, mirror adjustment and tyre date codes on the motorcycle offered to you. Features can differ by trim or model year, and a dealer quotation is the proper place to confirm what is included. Read the tyre sidewall for the recommended pressure and make sure the supplied tools, spare fuses and documents are present at delivery.
Price, registration and ownership cost
Understanding the quoted prices
Bajaj lists ₹75,797 as a Delhi ex-showroom starting price for the Platina 110 Drum. It excludes registration, insurance, taxes or fees that apply to your location and may change as the manufacturer updates its catalogue. The cited sources do not confirm a directly comparable current price for the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel.
Request written on-road quotations for both exact variants. Ask the dealer to separate ex-showroom price, registration, insurance, handling or optional charges, accessories and any time-limited offer. A lower headline price can disappear once insurance or mandatory registration differences are included.
Confirm the quote date and whether the motorcycle is a current model year. If a dealer offers a discount on an older stock unit, ask for the manufacturing month, warranty start date and any condition attached to the offer. Compare the same insurance coverage and registration category so that the totals are meaningful.
Fuel and service budgeting
Do not estimate total ownership cost from engine capacity alone. Your calculation should include fuel price and blend availability, scheduled service, consumables, insurance renewal, tyres, chain or belt-related work where applicable, and likely resale period. For the Hero, add the practical question of whether your area has the blend you intend to use; a flex-fuel capability has little financial value if you cannot buy the relevant fuel.
Ask each dealer for the service interval, labour rate, warranty conditions and availability of flex-fuel-specific parts. Hero’s revised ECU and fuel-system components are evidence of a different calibration and hardware package, not proof that maintenance will cost more or less than the Bajaj. Request a written estimate for routine service and ask whether diagnostics for the revised ECU require a particular authorised workshop.

| You are deciding mainly on mileage | Neither can be declared the winner from these cited pages | Run comparable tests using the same route, load, tyre pressure and fuel type. |
| You want the lowest total cost | Not established by the available specifications | Compare written on-road quotes, service schedules, insurance and fuel access. |
A decision process that avoids the common mistakes
- Write down your real route. Mark daily kilometres, traffic density, hills, passenger use and the nearest stations selling the blend you would use.
- Confirm the variants. Ensure the quote says Platina 110 Drum or HF Deluxe Flex Fuel, not a similarly named trim or the regular HF Deluxe.
- Check fuel first. If E85 is the reason you prefer Hero, verify current local supply instead of assuming nationwide availability.
- Compare like-for-like prices. Get on-road quotations from authorised dealers in the same city and date range.
- Inspect and test ride. Test cold starting, clutch action, low-speed balance, braking, suspension response and passenger comfort.
- Review ownership terms. Ask for the service schedule, warranty exclusions, parts lead times and roadside assistance details in writing.
- Make a conditional choice. Select Hero when its fuel capability is usable in your area; select Bajaj when its output, tank specification and local value make more sense after the ride and price checks.
Common buying errors and how to avoid them
Using standard HF Deluxe data for the flex-fuel bike
The 72 kmpl claim belongs to Hero’s standard HF Deluxe page, not a directly identified Flex Fuel test. Likewise, do not use the standard model’s tank capacity to fill the missing Flex Fuel specification. Ask for the flex-fuel variant’s own brochure or invoice specification.
Treating peak power as guaranteed acceleration
The Platina’s 9.5 PS and the Hero’s 6.3 kW with E85 are manufacturer figures measured at stated engine speeds. They do not describe gearing, weight, throttle response or the complete torque curve. Use them to understand the published specification, then ride both motorcycles.
Assuming E85 is sold everywhere
Hero’s compatibility claim answers whether the motorcycle is designed for the E20–E85 range; it does not map station availability. Confirm supply before paying a premium for a capability you cannot use.
Comparing ex-showroom and on-road prices
The ₹75,797 Bajaj figure is a Delhi ex-showroom starting price. It is not an all-India on-road price and is not directly comparable with an unverified showroom quote for the Hero. Separate every charge in writing.
Calling company emissions claims independent results
The reported CO, THC and NMHC reductions are Hero’s stated claims without a test protocol in the cited page. They should not be presented as an independently verified comparison against the Platina.
Ignoring the fuel in a demonstration ride
Ask what blend is in each test motorcycle and record it with your notes. The Hero’s quoted 6.3 kW and 8.3 Nm are specified with E85, so a ride on another blend should not be treated as a direct validation of those exact figures.
Bottom-line recommendation
Pick the Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel when ethanol compatibility is the reason you are shopping and you have dependable access to suitable E20–E85 blends. Its revised ECU and fuel-system components, plus the company’s stated E85 performance and emissions claims, make it the only motorcycle here with an explicitly documented flex-fuel range.

The cited specifications do not justify declaring one universal winner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel run on E85?
Hero says the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel is fully compatible with ethanol blends from E20 to E85. Confirm the fuel label at your local station; compatibility does not guarantee that E85 is available in every city or on every route.
Which bike has the larger engine, Platina 110 or HF Deluxe Flex Fuel?
The Bajaj Platina 110 Drum is listed with a 115.06 cc engine, while the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel is listed with a 97.2 cc engine.
Which motorcycle has more power and torque?
On the published figures, the Platina lists 9.5 PS (6.99 kW) and 9.9 Nm. Hero lists 6.3 kW and 8.3 Nm for the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel with E85. These peak figures do not prove better real-world acceleration.
Does the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel deliver 72 kmpl?
Hero’s 72 kmpl claim appears on the separate standard HF Deluxe page. It is not identified as a result for the flex-fuel variant, so it should not be used as a direct comparison.
What is the Platina 110 Drum price?
Bajaj lists a starting price of ₹75,797 Delhi ex-showroom. Registration, insurance, taxes and other charges vary by location, so request a current on-road quote.
What is the fuel-tank capacity of the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel?
The dedicated flex-fuel material cited here does not confirm its tank capacity. Ask the dealer for the exact variant specification rather than using the regular HF Deluxe’s figure.
Are Hero’s emissions reductions independently verified?
Hero reports 77% lower CO, 14% lower THC and 40% lower NMHC, but the cited page does not provide a test protocol or independent validation. Treat these as company claims.
Which bike is better for mileage and low running cost?
Neither can be declared the winner from the cited specifications. Compare identical routes, loads, tyre pressures and fuel blends, then include service, insurance and local fuel availability in your ownership-cost calculation.
The Bottom Line
Choose Hero for usable E20–E85 capability; choose Bajaj for its larger listed engine, higher published peak output and confirmed 11-litre tank. Verify local fuel supply, exact variant, on-road price and service support before deciding.
