The specification is a sensible fit for a rider whose priority is routine commuting rather than carrying extra equipment or seeking the strongest roll-on response. It does not, by itself, establish lower fuel consumption, quieter operation or a faster journey. Traffic, load, tyre pressure, maintenance and riding style can outweigh a small paper difference.
Star City Plus: more displacement and lower-rpm torque peak
TVS lists a 109.7 cc ET-Fi engine producing 6.03 kW at 7,350 rpm and 8.7 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The four-speed gearbox is described as constant-mesh with an all-up shift pattern. The additional 10.11 cc and the torque figure arriving at a lower listed engine speed may suit a rider who frequently starts from junctions, carries a passenger or wants less shifting in ordinary traffic, but those are expectations rather than a measured acceleration result.
Because the two manufacturers present their figures differently and no independent controlled comparison was identified, do not use the identical 6.03 kW number to declare a tie in every aspect of performance. During a ride, pay attention to clutch take-up, low-speed response, vibration through the grips and seat, and how easily each engine holds a comfortable speed on your usual roads.

Shift-pattern difference
The all-down pattern listed for the Platina and the all-up pattern listed for the Star City Plus can feel different when you are filtering through traffic or making repeated stop-start changes. Neither pattern is inherently better. Ask the salesperson to explain the neutral position, then make several first-to-second and second-to-third shifts during the test ride before deciding.

Fuel economy: read every number with its method
Mileage is the most common reason buyers ask this comparison, but the available figures are not equivalent tests.
- Autocar India’s comparison page compiles user-reported mileage of 74.56 kmpl for the Platina 100 and 69.84 kmpl for the Star City Plus. These are reported-use figures, not an official guarantee or a controlled test performed with both motorcycles under identical conditions.
- The same publisher separately reports a Star City Plus city test of 65.6 kmpl and highway test of 68.3 kmpl. A city test and a highway test answer different questions from a user-reported average.
- A separate Star City Plus listing presents ARAI and typical real-world categories, but the specific numerical ARAI and real-world values are not established in the material used for this comparison.
- User ratings and survey impressions on other listing pages are self-selected opinions, not a representative population study.
The only defensible conclusion is that both are designed as economical commuters and that the published figures should be treated as reference points. Your result will vary with traffic density, average speed, rider and passenger weight, hills, weather, fuel quality, tyre pressure, service condition and how often the engine is left idling. If fuel cost is decisive, record your own consumption over several full-tank cycles after purchase instead of budgeting from the highest number in a listing.
Equipment and day-to-day practicality
Tank capacity and refuelling
Bajaj lists an 11-litre tank, while TVS lists 10 litres. A larger nominal tank can reduce the number of refuelling stops, but it does not guarantee longer range because actual consumption and the amount you are willing to use before refuelling determine distance. Treat the capacity figures as a convenience difference, not as proof that one motorcycle is more economical.
Tyres and puncture repairs
The Platina configurations listed by Bajaj use tube-type tyres. TVS lists tubeless tyres for the Star City Plus. Tubeless tyres can be easier to manage after some tread-area punctures because air loss may be slower and an external repair can sometimes be possible, but they still require inspection and correct pressure. Sidewall damage, a damaged rim or a large cut may require replacement or a proper workshop repair. Do not describe either setup as puncture-proof.

Lighting, charging and instruments
The indexed TVS material lists an LED headlamp, a USB mobile charger and a multifunction console. Those features can be useful for a rider who leaves before sunrise, navigates with a phone or wants more information in one instrument cluster. Confirm that the exact model year and trim you are quoted includes each item; the indexed Star City Plus page redirected to a different TVS model when checked, so the current brochure or dealer specification should settle the equipment list.

The Platina specification lists 135 mm hydraulic telescopic front suspension and 110 mm spring-in-spring rear suspension. The nested-spring layout is a distinctive part of the model’s identity and may appeal to riders who regularly cross broken urban roads.
TVS lists a telescopic front fork and a five-step adjustable hydraulic rear shock. Adjustment can help accommodate a solo rider, passenger or luggage, but the correct setting depends on load and road conditions. Ask the dealer to show you how the steps are changed; do not assume the factory setting is ideal for every use. Neither specification establishes a definitive comfort winner, so ride over speed breakers, patched tarmac and a smooth section on both motorcycles.
Rider fit and carrying use
Published specifications do not replace physical fit. Sit on each bike with both feet placed naturally, check reach to the clutch and front brake, and turn the handlebar fully in both directions. If you carry a passenger, repeat the checks with the passenger seated and see whether the rear suspension remains composed. A motorcycle that is easier to balance at a crowded junction may be a better choice than one with a theoretical advantage you cannot feel or use.

Price comparisons are especially easy to misread because the figures refer to different variants, cities and update dates.
