Neither bike is a universal winner. The Bajaj Platina 100 has the larger listed engine and fuel tank, while Hero publishes a 70 kmpl E20-fuel claim and sells the Splendor+ family in more technology grades. Compare the exact variant, obtain same-city on-road quotes, verify service and warranty terms, and test-ride both with the load you normally carry.
The short answer
Choose the Bajaj Platina 100 if its long seat, Comfortec ride equipment, electric start, 11-litre tank and listed Delhi price fit your route and budget. Choose a Hero Splendor+ if you want a particular feature grade such as i3S, a five-step adjustable rear suspension or the technology equipment offered on XTEC versions, and you are satisfied with the local quote.

That guidance is deliberately conditional. The figures available from the manufacturers are specifications and marketing claims, not a controlled comparison of fuel consumption, acceleration, reliability or comfort. A 99.59 cc engine does not automatically make a motorcycle more economical than a 97.2 cc engine, and a larger tank does not prove better mileage. Your result will depend on traffic, speed, rider weight, passenger or luggage, tyre pressure, maintenance and fuel quality.
Bajaj lists the Platina 100 at ₹72,942 ex-showroom in Delhi on its current product page. Hero’s page displays prices by variant, including ₹78,912 for a standard drum-brake OBD2B example and ₹1,10,001 for an XTEC 2.0 drum-brake OBD2B example. Those are not equivalent trims or on-road prices, so use them only as a starting point and request current quotations for your city.

Price: compare identical versions, not just model names
“Splendor Plus” is a family name rather than one fixed specification. The standard, XTEC and XTEC 2.0 versions can differ in equipment and price. The Platina listing and the displayed Splendor+ prices below were available on the manufacturers’ pages accessed on 13 October 2026; prices, stock, taxes, registration fees and offers can change.

Ask each dealer for a written, itemised on-road price containing ex-showroom amount, registration, insurance, handling or accessories, optional extended warranty, finance charges and every discount. Compare the totals on the same date. If one quote includes a helmet, accessories or a first service while the other does not, remove or price those items separately.
Engine and specification comparison
The official baseline specifications show closely matched commuter-bike power, with a small displacement advantage for the Platina. They do not predict which motorcycle will feel faster in every situation.

Bajaj’s 6.03 kW (8.2 PS) figure is measured at a lower engine speed than Hero’s 5.9 kW figure, so do not turn the numbers into a direct road-performance promise. Hero supplies a torque figure; the reviewed Platina information does not, so a missing Platina number should not be treated as zero or as evidence of weaker pulling power. Acceleration, hill performance, vibration and overtaking require the same-road test ride.
The Platina’s nominal tank holds 1.2 litres more. That can reduce the frequency of fuel stops, but the usable distance still depends on actual consumption. A bigger tank adds capacity, not an automatic economy advantage.

Platina 100 vs Splendor Plus mileage
Hero advertises 70 kmpl with E20 fuel for the Splendor+ on its product page. This is a manufacturer claim, not an independently controlled test result. The current Platina page uses qualitative economy language rather than a comparable number in the information reviewed. Consequently, the evidence does not establish a real-world mileage winner.
If fuel cost dominates your decision, measure the bikes under your own conditions rather than relying on a single dashboard reading or an internet claim:

- Ride a representative mix of your commute, including traffic, open road, hills and any regular passenger load.
- Refill at the same station and level, record litres added and distance travelled, and calculate kilometres divided by litres.
- Repeat for at least two or three tanks. Keep tyre pressures, riding pace and load as consistent as possible.
Do not compare one rider’s gentle highway run with another rider’s congested stop-start commute. E20 availability and the fuel blend actually dispensed also matter. Use your measured cost per kilometre together with the on-road price; a small fuel saving can take years to offset a substantially higher purchase price.
Comfort and everyday usability
What Bajaj lists for the Platina 100
Bajaj promotes “Advanced Comfortec technology for a smooth ride, even on bad roads,” along with a long soft seat, electric start and longer front and rear suspension. These are the manufacturer’s feature descriptions, not independent ride-test findings. They suggest what to inspect if your route has potholes, broken tarmac or long saddle time: sit in the riding position, check whether your feet reach the ground naturally, and ride over the rough surfaces you actually encounter at a safe speed.
What Hero lists for the Splendor+ family
Hero lists a five-step adjustable rear suspension, tubeless tyres and i3S (idle-stop-start) for relevant Splendor+ variants. Instrumentation, lighting and other technology features vary between the standard, XTEC and XTEC 2.0 versions. Confirm that the exact motorcycle in the dealer’s quotation includes the feature you care about; the base model name alone is not enough.

Adjustment range is useful only if the rider or service technician sets it correctly. During a test ride, try the motorcycle solo and, if a passenger is part of your normal use, with an equivalent load. Check clutch effort, handlebar reach, seat width, suspension response, mirror visibility, brake feel and ease of paddling the bike into a parking space. These observations are personal-fit decisions, not specifications that can be settled from a brochure.

Splendor+ variants: identify the exact bike
The standard Splendor+, Splendor+ XTEC and Splendor+ XTEC 2.0 should be treated as separate purchase choices. Hero’s product page presents them as a family, but equipment such as i3S, the instrument display, lighting and braking can differ by variant. Before paying a booking amount, write the complete variant name and OBD2B designation on the quotation and check the physical motorcycle’s equipment against it.
- Standard Splendor+: the lower displayed price example in Hero’s listing is for a standard drum-brake OBD2B version. Confirm the actual city price and included equipment.
- Splendor+ XTEC: a technology-oriented grade; verify its instrument and lighting features, controls and current price rather than assuming they match the standard model.
- Splendor+ XTEC 2.0: the displayed ₹1,10,001 drum-brake OBD2B example is much more expensive than the displayed standard example. Treat the additional equipment as a separate buying decision, not as the default Splendor+ specification.
The Platina listing also needs a physical check for the exact model year, colour, braking equipment and included accessories available at your dealer. Manufacturer webpages can show a product family while local stock consists of a particular configuration.
Ownership, warranty and local support
Hero states that all its motorcycles come with a warranty of five years or 70,000 km, whichever comes first. Confirm the terms, exclusions, required service schedule and applicability to the exact purchased variant and purchase date in the written warranty booklet.
A matching Bajaj warranty term was not established in the current product information reviewed here. Ask the authorised dealer to write the Platina warranty period, kilometre limit, service requirements and exclusions on the sales documents. Do not assume that two similarly priced commuter motorcycles have identical coverage.

Service access can outweigh a small specification difference. Before choosing, check the distance to authorised workshops, operating hours, appointment process, parts availability and the labour and consumables charged for routine services. Ask who handles warranty claims and whether the dealer can provide a printed maintenance schedule. These checks are local and time-sensitive; a national model reputation cannot substitute for a dependable workshop near your home or workplace.

- Define the use case. Note daily kilometres, road condition, average speed, passenger frequency, luggage, parking space and whether fuel stops are difficult.
- Select the exact variants. Write “Platina 100” and the full Splendor+ grade, including any OBD2B designation, rather than comparing family names.
- Get same-day, same-city quotes. Request itemised on-road totals from authorised sellers and separate compulsory charges from optional accessories or finance products.
- Check support. Locate the nearest authorised workshops, ask for service intervals and prices, and obtain each warranty booklet or written terms.
- Inspect the motorcycle. Verify the VIN and manufacturing date, cold-start behaviour, instrument functions, lights, tyres, controls, paint and the equipment promised in the quotation.
- Test-ride both. Use the same route, including a rough patch, a hill or flyover if relevant, slow traffic and a safe open stretch. Evaluate starting, clutch, braking, steering, suspension, mirrors, noise and posture.
- Estimate ownership cost. Combine the final on-road price, insurance renewal, scheduled service, consumables, likely fuel use and any finance interest. Keep the assumptions identical for both bikes.
- Buy only after the numbers and fit agree. Ensure the booking receipt names the variant, colour, agreed price, delivery estimate, warranty and refund conditions.
Test-ride checklist
- Can you place both feet securely when stopped without stretching?
- Is the seat comfortable after 20 to 30 minutes rather than only during a showroom sit?
- Does the suspension remain controlled over potholes with your normal load?
- Are the clutch, throttle and brakes predictable in crawling traffic?
- Can you see clearly in both mirrors with your usual riding posture?
- Does the engine feel smooth enough at the speeds you actually use?
- Are the instrument, lighting and i3S controls on the exact Splendor+ variant easy to understand?
- Can you manoeuvre the motorcycle into your parking space and onto its stand?
Carry a correctly fitted, locally compliant helmet and gloves for the ride. Follow the dealer’s safety instructions and use a route where a legal, controlled evaluation is possible.

Comparing ex-showroom with on-road money
An ex-showroom Delhi figure cannot be compared directly with an on-road quote from another city. Registration, insurance and taxes can change the gap substantially.

Standard, XTEC and XTEC 2.0 equipment and prices differ. A feature found on an XTEC listing should not be promised for the standard motorcycle.

Calling a manufacturer claim a test result
Hero’s 70 kmpl statement is useful context, but it is not proof that every owner will achieve 70 kmpl. There is no verified controlled real-world mileage comparison here.
Using tank size as a mileage shortcut
The Platina’s 11-litre tank gives more nominal capacity than the Splendor+’s 9.8 litres. It does not establish lower fuel consumption or longer range without a measured consumption figure.
Assuming warranty and reliability are the same
Hero publishes a five-year/70,000-km limit. Obtain Bajaj’s current written terms and compare service requirements. Neither the available specifications nor the stated warranty proves long-term reliability.

Buy the Platina 100 when its listed equipment, larger tank and test-ride comfort solve your needs at the better same-city on-road price. Buy the exact Splendor+ variant when its published mileage claim, available technology or warranty terms matter more and the motorcycle feels right on your route. If the quotes are close, let the test ride, workshop access and written ownership terms decide; the published specifications alone cannot name one universal winner.
