Bajaj describes the Dominar as a long-distance tourer, while the RS200’s full fairing gives it a sport-bike identity. Those are manufacturer positioning statements, not independent comfort or performance test results. Use the following priorities to make the choice:
- Touring, stronger acceleration reserves and higher torque on the specification sheet: Dominar 250.
- Lighter-feeling manoeuvres and fully faired styling: Pulsar RS200.

Engine performance: where the Dominar has the paper advantage
Dominar 250 output
Bajaj lists the Dominar 250’s 248.77 cc engine at 19.85 kW, equivalent to 27 PS, at 8,500 rpm. Maximum torque is 23.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The larger displacement and higher torque figure suggest more mechanical reserve when carrying luggage, climbing a gradient or joining faster traffic, but the figures do not establish a particular 0–100 km/h time or overtaking distance.
The torque peak arrives at a lower engine speed than the Dominar’s power peak. In practical terms, a rider may spend less time chasing the top of the rev range when riding at a steady touring pace, but throttle response still depends on gearing, load, wind and riding technique. RS200 output
Bajaj lists the RS200 at 18 kW (24.5 PS) and identifies a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 200 cc-class engine. Peak power is quoted at 9,750 rpm, higher in the rev range than the Dominar’s peak. Autocar India’s comparison lists 18.7 Nm for the RS200 and 23.5 Nm for the Dominar. Bajaj and Autocar use different pages and units for some specifications; retain each source’s stated value rather than presenting an unverified conversion.
The RS200 also has a six-speed manual transmission according to Bajaj. That gives the rider closely spaced ratios for keeping the engine in its useful rev range, but it does not make the RS200 objectively faster. Traffic, rider skill, tyre condition and load can overwhelm small specification differences.
What the power gap means for buyers
- For frequent two-up or luggage-loaded highway travel, the Dominar’s 27 PS and 23.5 Nm provide the stronger published case.
- For solo commuting and occasional highway use, the RS200’s 24.5 PS may be entirely adequate if its riding position and styling suit you.
- Do not choose based on a claimed top speed or acceleration number that is not supported by the cited sources.
Weight, balance and everyday manoeuvring
Autocar India lists the Dominar 250 at 180 kg and the RS200 at 167 kg. The RS200 therefore has a 13 kg listed advantage. - Can you place both feet securely enough for your normal stops?
- Can you push the bike backward on a slight incline without straining?
- Does the clutch and throttle response remain manageable in first-gear traffic?

Bajaj identifies dual-channel ABS on the RS200. On the Dominar page, Bajaj describes traction control, ride modes and dual-channel ABS. Equipment can change with model year, market and trim, so ask the dealer to show the written specification for the motorcycle shown on your quotation. Do not assume that a feature described on a family page is standard on every production unit.

ZigWheels’ comparison, last updated September 3, 2026, reports claimed mileage of 35.03 kmpl for the Dominar 250 and 35 kmpl for the RS200. The 0.03 kmpl difference is too small to drive a buying decision, especially because these are third-party claimed figures rather than a controlled back-to-back test.
Actual consumption will vary with speed, traffic, rider weight, tyre pressure, service condition, fuel quality and luggage. A rider who wants a meaningful personal baseline should fill the tank to the same level, reset the trip meter, ride through a representative route and calculate fuel used at the next refill.
