Bajaj Chetak vs TVS Orbiter: Key Specs, Range and Which Trim Fits You

A variant-by-variant Bajaj Chetak vs TVS Orbiter comparison covering published range, battery sizes, charging windows, top speed, storage, features and how to choose for your commute.

There is no single winner for every Indian rider. The TVS Orbiter V2 has the highest published IDC range in this comparison at 158 km, while Bajaj’s Chetak C 35 trims claim 151–153 km and offer a wider spread of top-speed and equipment choices. The right pick depends on your exact variant, daily distance, charging routine, storage requirement and the current price and service support in your city.

This is a comparison of manufacturer-published specifications available through October 2026, not an independent road test. IDC figures are test-cycle claims, and neither brand’s published material establishes a controlled, head-to-head real-world range result.

At a glance: the variants are more important than the family names

“Chetak” covers several C Series versions, while the Orbiter is sold as V1 and V2. Comparing only the two family names can produce a misleading answer because battery size, claimed range, charge window, speed and equipment change substantially between trims.

Model/variant Battery Published range Stated charging window Top speed Under-seat storage
TVS Orbiter V1 1.8 kWh 92 km IDC 2 hours, 10–80%, with included 650 W charger Not stated on the inspected current product page 34 litres (family claim)
TVS Orbiter V2 3.1 kWh 158 km IDC 3 hours 30 minutes, 10–80%, with included 650 W charger Not stated on the inspected current product page 34 litres (family claim)
Bajaj C 3501 3.5 kWh 153 km 3 hours, 0–80% 80 km/h 35 litres
Bajaj C 3502 3.5 kWh 153 km 3 hours 25 minutes, 0–80% 80 km/h 35 litres
Bajaj C 3503 3.5 kWh 151 km 3 hours 25 minutes, 0–80% 70 km/h 35 litres
Bajaj C 3001 3.0 kWh 127 km 2 hours 55 minutes, 0–80% 70 km/h 35 litres
Bajaj C 2501 (C 25) 2.5 kWh 113 km Approximately 2 hours 25 minutes, 0–80% 60 km/h 25 litres

The Chetak figures above come from Bajaj’s April 29, 2026 update. Orbiter charging figures are the current product-page values and use a different state-of-charge window from the Chetak figures. Do not treat a 10–80% time as directly interchangeable with a 0–80% time.

Range: Orbiter V2 leads on paper, but the route decides whether it matters

Orbiter V2 versus Chetak C 35

At 158 km IDC, Orbiter V2 has the highest manufacturer-published range in this group. Chetak C 3501 and C 3502 list 153 km, and C 3503 lists 151 km. On the published numbers alone, the V2 has a 5–7 km advantage over the C 35 range band, but that is a laboratory-cycle comparison rather than a promise of everyday distance.

IDC results can differ from what you see in traffic. Speed, payload, gradients, tyre pressure, temperature, stop-and-go riding and how much reserve you keep all affect consumption. A rider who normally returns home with a substantial battery reserve should plan from a conservative personal baseline rather than assuming the full IDC number is usable every day.

Orbiter V1 and the smaller Chetaks

Orbiter V1’s 92 km IDC claim is far below the V2’s 158 km. The smaller Chetak C 2501 claims 113 km, and C 3001 claims 127 km. Those versions can be sensible for shorter commutes, but the decision should start with your actual round-trip distance and charging access. A 40 km daily round trip leaves a very different margin from an 80 km trip, even before weather and traffic are considered.

  • Choose the larger-battery option when your route is long, charging is inconvenient or you regularly carry a passenger.
  • Consider a smaller battery when your route is short and predictable and the lower purchase price or shorter charging window is more valuable than maximum range.
  • Ask the dealer which battery and software version the quoted vehicle has; a family name is not enough to identify the specification.

Charging: compare the percentages, charger and your parking situation

Bajaj states approximately 2 hours 25 minutes for C 2501, 2 hours 55 minutes for C 3001, 3 hours for C 3501 and 3 hours 25 minutes for both C 3502 and C 3503, all from 0 to 80 percent. TVS’s current Orbiter product page states 2 hours for V1 and 3 hours 30 minutes for V2 from 10 to 80 percent, using the included 650 W charger.

  • Smart APP Control & Lightweight Foldable E Scooter:Pair the scooter with smart APP to lock device, monitor battery level, view ride stats and adjust speed modes easily. Lightweight foldable design makes it easy to carry and store for daily use.

Because the starting and ending percentages differ, these figures should not be used to declare a universal charging winner. The Orbiter figures begin at 10 percent, whereas the Chetak figures begin at empty. The last part of a charge can also take longer than the middle of the session, so a full-charge estimate cannot be inferred reliably from an 80-percent figure.

Match charging to your daily routine

  1. Measure the route: record the distance for a normal working day, including detours and errands.
  2. Check the parking socket: confirm that the supplied charger can be used safely at your home or workplace and that the outlet is not shared with a high-load appliance.
  3. Set a reserve: decide how much battery you need for an unexpected trip or a missed charging session.
  4. Compare the stated window correctly: write down the starting and ending battery percentages beside each quoted time.
  5. Verify delivery equipment: ask whether the listed 650 W Orbiter charger and the relevant Chetak charging hardware are included with the exact trim and invoice.

Performance and equipment differ by Chetak trim

Bajaj’s April 2026 table gives C 3501 and C 3502 an 80 km/h top speed. C 3503 and C 3001 are listed at 70 km/h, while C 2501 is listed at 60 km/h. That spread is significant if your commute includes faster urban arterials, but a higher top-speed specification does not by itself establish better acceleration, braking or stability; those require a controlled test.

The inspected current Orbiter product page did not state a comparable top-speed figure. Do not fill that gap with a number from an unrelated brochure or an online listing for a different model year. Ask the dealer for the specification of the exact V1 or V2 vehicle being offered.

Connected and riding features

Bajaj says Google Maps navigation is integrated on C 3501. Ride modes and hill hold are standard on the C 35 and C 30 ranges; C 25 receives those functions with TecPac. Confirm whether TecPac is fitted, included or priced separately on the specific quotation.

TVS’s Orbiter launch release lists cruise control, hill hold, connected features and parking assist. The release describes these as Orbiter equipment, but the feature list and availability should still be checked against the V1 or V2 configuration in your city. A feature shown in launch communication is not a substitute for the equipment list on the purchase order.

Storage and everyday utility

Bajaj lists 35 litres of storage for C 3501, C 3502, C 3503 and C 3001. C 2501 is listed with 25 litres. TVS lists 34 litres for the Orbiter family and says the boot can accommodate two helmets. That two-helmet statement is a manufacturer claim, not an independent fit test; helmet shell size and shape can change the result.

The one-litre difference between a 35-litre Chetak and the 34-litre Orbiter specification is unlikely to decide the purchase by itself. The 10-litre gap between a C 35/C 30 and the 25-litre C 25 can be more meaningful if you carry a full-face helmet, rain gear or a work bag. Take the helmet and bag you actually use to the showroom and test the latch, floorboard and charging-cable storage rather than relying only on nominal litres.

TVS announced the Orbiter at ₹99,900 ex-showroom in Bengaluru in 2025, inclusive of the PM E-Drive scheme. That is historical launch pricing. The current TVS product page uses city and variant controls and warns that displayed prices can vary with colour, accessories and other factors.

There is therefore no defensible “which is cheaper?” answer without your city, exact variants, purchase date and a same-day quotation. Registration, insurance, taxes, accessories, finance charges and any applicable incentive can change the amount you actually pay.

Build an apples-to-apples quote

  • Use the same city for both vehicles.
  • Compare the same price basis: ex-showroom with ex-showroom, or on-road with on-road.
  • Write the exact trim code, battery size, colour and included equipment on each quote.
  • Separate compulsory charges from optional accessories and finance products.
  • Ask how long the quote is valid and whether an incentive is conditional on registration timing.

Safety, support and ownership questions the specifications do not answer

TVS says in a September 23, 2026 article that it conducted 600 safety validation tests. That is a figure attributed to TVS, not an independent safety score and not a directly comparable number for Bajaj. It indicates the company’s stated validation activity, but it does not tell you how either scooter would perform in a particular crash or braking situation.

Neither the published specifications summarized here nor the launch material establishes a controlled comparative ownership-cost statistic. Battery warranty terms, roadside assistance, service intervals, software support, spare-part lead times and local technician coverage can materially affect ownership, so obtain those terms in writing from the local dealer.

Questions to ask the dealer

  1. Which exact variant code and battery capacity are on the vehicle identification and invoice?
  2. What warranty applies to the vehicle, battery and charger, and what conditions can exclude coverage?
  3. Where is the nearest authorized service location, and what is the normal turnaround for accident or battery-related work?
  4. Are navigation, ride modes, hill hold, cruise control or parking assist active on this vehicle, or do they require a package or software activation?
  5. What is included in the displayed price, and which accessories are optional?
  6. Can you demonstrate charging from the battery level you will normally have at home?

Which one fits which rider?

Choose Orbiter V2 when range margin is your priority

Orbiter V2 is the logical paper match for riders who value the highest published IDC range, provided the local price, service network and charging arrangement work for them. Its 3.1 kWh battery and 158 km IDC claim create more stated range than any Chetak variant listed here. The 34-litre storage claim and the launch-listed connected, cruise-control, hill-hold and parking-assist features may also suit utility-focused urban use. Verify the exact feature list and do not interpret the IDC figure as a guaranteed real-world distance.

Choose a Chetak C 35 when speed, storage and trim choice matter

C 3501 and C 3502 combine a 3.5 kWh battery, 153 km claimed range, 80 km/h listed top speed and 35 litres of storage. C 3503 keeps the same battery and storage but lists 151 km and 70 km/h. These trims give buyers more clearly published speed distinctions than the Orbiter page currently provides. C 3501’s integrated Google Maps navigation and the C 35 family’s standard ride modes and hill hold can be useful if they are included in your selected configuration.

Choose C 30 or C 25 for shorter, predictable commutes

C 3001 lists 127 km, 70 km/h and 35 litres, making it a middle option for riders who want C 35-sized storage without the C 35 battery. C 2501 lists 113 km, 60 km/h and 25 litres, with an approximately 2-hour-25-minute 0–80% charge time. It can fit a shorter commute where compact utility and a lower entry point matter more than maximum speed or boot volume. Check whether TecPac is included if you need the C 25’s ride modes and hill hold.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose Orbiter V1 only when its lower range is sufficient

Orbiter V1’s 92 km IDC figure makes it a fundamentally different choice from V2. It may suit a modest, repeatable route with reliable overnight charging, but it leaves less margin for detours and battery degradation than the larger-range options on paper. Confirm that the stated 2-hour 10–80% charging window and 34-litre storage meet your routine before accepting a lower purchase price or other advantage.

A practical buying process

  1. Write down your real route: include the round trip, passenger use, hills and the longest detour you make in a week.
  2. Eliminate mismatched variants: compare Orbiter V1 with C 2501 or C 3001 only if their range, speed and storage meet that route; do not compare V1 with a C 3501 simply because both are called electric scooters.
  3. Test the physical fit: sit in your normal riding position, try the stand, open the boot with your helmet inside and check passenger foot space.
  4. Confirm charging: inspect the home socket, cable reach and parking security, then record the manufacturer’s charge window with its percentage limits.
  5. Get written prices: request same-day ex-showroom and on-road quotes for the exact trims in your city.
  6. Check support: call the nearest service point, ask about scheduled maintenance and obtain warranty terms before paying a booking amount.
  7. Recheck the invoice: ensure the battery, charger, software packages and promised accessories match the configuration you selected.

What the available evidence cannot establish

The figures above do not establish which scooter has better real-world range, faster acceleration, stronger braking, greater ride comfort, lower long-term cost or superior reliability. No independent head-to-head road test, controlled range comparison or independently published comparative ownership-cost study is established here. Those questions require comparable testing or owner data collected under the same conditions.

Manufacturer claims remain useful for narrowing the shortlist: Orbiter V2 leads the published IDC range table; Chetak C 35 trims offer 151–153 km, 35 litres and up to 80 km/h on paper; C 30, C 25 and Orbiter V1 target shorter or less demanding routes. The final decision should be made using your route, charging access, exact local quote and confidence in nearby service support.

Bottom line

Pick Orbiter V2 if its 158 km IDC claim, 34-litre storage and listed equipment align with your route and local ownership support. Pick a Chetak C 35 trim if its 151–153 km claim, 35-litre boot, published speed options and trim-specific features fit you better. Compare C 30, C 25 and Orbiter V1 against your actual daily distance rather than assuming the cheapest family member is automatically the best value. The evidence supports a conditional choice, not an overall winner.
