Why the model name alone is not enough
“Bajaj Chetak” is a family name rather than one fixed specification. Current Chetak material shows 2.5 kWh, 3.0 kWh and 3.5 kWh product families. Battery size, claimed range, equipment, storage and price can therefore differ substantially within the Chetak line. A verdict that simply says “Chetak beats Tennis 1500” can accidentally compare a cheaper, shorter-range C25 with a larger-battery Chetak—or compare a higher Chetak price with the wrong Tennis 1500 quotation.

The table is intentionally limited to published figures that can be attributed to a model, date and source. Missing cells are not evidence that a scooter lacks the feature; they mean you need a current, variant-specific answer from the seller.
Price: compare the invoice, not the headline
On the paired ZigWheels figures, the reported Chetak base price is ₹10,000 below the Tennis 1500. That is a useful starting signal, not a final saving. The Chetak figure is for an unidentified comparison variant, while the Tennis 1500 figure is also a third-party report. Neither number is a guaranteed current on-road quote.

Request these figures in one written quotation
- Exact model, trim, battery capacity and model year.
- Ex-showroom price and the date the quote expires.
- Registration, road tax and insurance, each itemised.
- Any handling, logistics, documentation or accessories charges.
- Applicable central or state incentive, including whether it is deducted immediately or claimed later.
- Home charger, installation, delivery and extended-warranty charges.
- Booking amount, cancellation terms and delivery estimate.
Compare the two totals from the same city and the same week. If one dealer quotes a promotional price and the other quotes a standard price, record that condition beside the number rather than declaring a permanent price winner.
Range and battery: interpret the claims correctly
The Tennis 1500’s reported 150 km is higher than the 131 km reported for the unspecified Chetak comparison model. The C25’s official launch claim is lower at up to 113 km. These numbers cannot be ranked without knowing the test cycle, battery version, software settings, rider load, speed and weather used for each figure. A claimed range is a controlled reference, not a promise that every rider will travel that distance.
Translate the claim into your route
List your longest routine journey, not just the average commute. Include the return trip, hills, traffic, a passenger, monsoon conditions and a reserve for an unexpected detour. Then ask each dealer for the battery capacity and charging time of the exact vehicle. A larger battery may reduce charging frequency, but it can also increase purchase price and weight; a smaller battery can be adequate when a home or workplace socket is available every day.
- Short urban use with daily charging: The C25’s up-to-113-km claim may be sufficient if your total daily distance is modest and charging access is dependable.
- Longer intervals between charges: The Tennis 1500’s reported 150-km claim looks attractive on paper, but confirm the battery capacity, test-cycle basis and local service support before paying for that advantage.
- Mixed use and uncertain charging: Choose the scooter whose dealer can document battery, charger, warranty and realistic charging arrangements, even if its headline range is lower.
Do not calculate savings or charging schedules from the headline range alone. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the dashboard’s battery percentage, estimated range behaviour and charging indicator on the actual test vehicle.

Warranty and service can outweigh a range advantage
The Chetak’s official FAQ states coverage of three years or 50,000 km, whichever comes first, for the product and lithium-ion battery, subject to warranty conditions and required maintenance. Obtain the current policy for your exact variant and read exclusions covering consumables, accident damage, water exposure, unauthorised repairs and missed services. Keep invoices and service records because documentation can affect a claim.
An equivalent official Tennis 1500 warranty statement was not established. That is not proof of inferior coverage; it is a reason to request the document before paying a non-refundable booking amount. The written policy should state who provides warranty service, where the battery is repaired, whether transport is included and what happens if a part is unavailable.

- Ask the outlet to name the service location for the exact scooter, not merely the sales showroom.
- Ask both dealers how routine service is booked and how battery or controller faults are diagnosed.
- Confirm whether parts are stocked locally or ordered from another city.
- Write down emergency contact details and the expected escalation path for a vehicle that cannot be ridden.
A scooter that is slightly cheaper or advertises more range can become the costlier choice if routine service requires long travel or if a warranty decision is unclear.

Test-ride both scooters with the same checklist
Take the same route, at similar times, and repeat the parts of the ride that matter to you. A short loop around a showroom cannot establish actual range, but it can expose ergonomic or equipment differences.
- Check whether both feet reach the ground comfortably and whether the handlebar clears your knees.
- Ride over the roughest surface on your normal route and note suspension response, rattles and steering stability.
- Use the brakes progressively at low and moderate speed. Ask which braking system is fitted rather than inferring it from lever feel.
- Try every riding mode, reverse function and parking assistance feature supplied on the test vehicle.
- Ride with the intended passenger if the dealer permits it; note acceleration, balance and seat comfort.
- Open the under-seat compartment with your helmet, rain gear and charging cable present.
- Pair your phone only if connectivity matters, and confirm which navigation or app functions belong to the exact trim.
- Ask to see the charger, cable length, connector, storage location and dashboard charging status.
Record the scooter’s displayed battery percentage and estimated range at the start and end of the ride. Treat that observation as your own test-ride note, not as an independently verified range test.
Which one suits which buyer?
Choose the Chetak when these conditions fit
- You can identify a Chetak variant whose battery and price match your route and budget.
- The dealer confirms the three-year/50,000-km product and battery warranty in writing for that variant.
- An authorised service point is closer or more responsive than the Tennis 1500 alternative.
- You value an established Chetak sales, test-ride and service process and are satisfied with the exact scooter’s storage and connectivity equipment.
The Chetak is not automatically the better choice merely because the paired comparison reports a lower base price. Its advantage is strongest when the quotation, warranty and local support remain clear after you select the correct variant.

Choose the Tennis 1500 only after these checks
- The dealer provides a current, itemised, same-city on-road quote.
- The 150-km claim is tied to a stated model, battery and test method.
- You receive written battery, vehicle and charger warranty terms, including the claim location.
- A practical service and parts route exists near your home or workplace.
- A test ride confirms that acceleration, braking, comfort and storage suit your use.
Its reported 150-km range is a reason to investigate, not a substitute for those documents. The available figures do not establish a definitive Tennis 1500 win on ownership cost or reliability.
