On July 16, 2024, Aura announced a partnership with Mosaic Compliance Services that combines Aura’s consumer identity and fraud protection with Mosaic’s managed compliance support for automobile dealerships. The stated goal is to protect shoppers who submit personal information during a vehicle purchase while helping dealers improve privacy, security and compliance processes.
What the Aura–Mosaic partnership does
The announcement describes two connected services rather than a single consumer product. Aura is the consumer-facing protection component: people who provide personally identifiable information to a participating dealer during a vehicle purchase would receive identity-theft and fraud protection. Mosaic is the dealer-facing component, providing managed compliance support.

The eLEND arrangement is historical context, not a description of the Mosaic program. The 2024 announcement does not provide pricing, technical specifications, performance results or a current list of participating dealers.
What it means for car buyers
Protection begins when personal information is handed over
Aura and Mosaic said the program is intended to cover consumers who give a dealer non-public personal information during the purchase process. That information can be involved in credit applications, identity checks, financing and other dealership transactions. The announcement presents Aura’s role as monitoring for identity theft, misuse of credit information and financial fraud after that information is shared.

Mosaic CEO James S. Ganther, Esq., described the intended reach this way: “We partnered with Aura so that every consumer, shopper, or buyer gets identity theft protection simply because they gave the dealer their non-public personal information.” This is a statement of the companies’ announced objective, not evidence that every dealership currently provides the service.
The 84% figure needs context
Aura Senior Vice President of Sales Scott Hudson said, “We know that 84% of customers say they would not buy another vehicle from a dealership if a breach compromised their data.” Aura’s announcement does not identify the underlying survey publisher, sample size or methodology. The figure should therefore be read as an Aura-reported statistic from the announcement, not as independently verified research about all vehicle buyers.

What it means for dealerships
Managed compliance, not a plug-in legal shortcut
Mosaic’s announced services include policy counsel, operational improvements, audits and consumer online protections. The companies positioned this work as support for dealerships building and maintaining compliance systems, while Aura supplies a consumer identity-protection layer.
The announcement references the federal Red Flags Rule and describes Aura’s monitoring as contributing to the mitigation part of a dealer’s compliance effort. That framing does not establish that Aura protection by itself satisfies the Red Flags Rule or any other legal requirement. A dealership remains responsible for determining which laws apply to its business, adopting appropriate policies and procedures, training staff, documenting controls and obtaining qualified legal advice where necessary.

How a dealer should evaluate the proposal
- Confirm which consumers are covered and when coverage starts and ends.
- Ask what information Aura monitors, what alerts are generated and how customers receive assistance.
- Request the written scope of Mosaic’s policy, audit and operational support.
- Determine how the services fit into the dealer’s existing identity-theft prevention, privacy, incident-response and vendor-management procedures.
- Obtain current pricing, contract terms, data-use provisions, service levels and termination conditions directly from the providers.
How the program fits into cybercrime prevention
Dealerships handle financial and identity information attractive to criminals. The announced model addresses two different points in that risk chain: dealer-side governance and consumer-side monitoring. Mosaic’s work is intended to help a dealership organize policies and processes; Aura’s service is intended to help a consumer detect or respond to identity and fraud issues.
Those functions are complementary but not interchangeable. Consumer monitoring does not replace secure systems, access controls, employee training, vendor oversight, breach planning or legally required notices. Conversely, a dealer’s compliance documentation does not by itself provide an affected shopper with identity-monitoring assistance.

The announcement is dated July 16, 2024. Current availability, participating-dealer coverage, geographic scope and commercial terms were not established in the available company materials. Aura’s business partner and reseller information describes general channels but does not verify that the specific Mosaic arrangement remains active or has unchanged terms.
Dealers or consumers considering the program should confirm its status and scope with Aura or Mosaic before relying on it. The announcement also makes broad statements about the auto sector’s exposure and the companies’ reach without publishing underlying methodologies; those statements should not be treated as independently verified industry statistics.
Bottom line for dealers and buyers
Aura’s announced partnership with Mosaic combines a consumer identity-protection service with managed dealership-compliance support. It could give dealers a way to add consumer assistance to broader privacy and fraud controls, but the release does not prove legal compliance, disclose current terms or establish measurable effectiveness. Treat it as a company-announced program to investigate—not as a substitute for a dealership’s own security program and legal obligations.
