Short answer: A 2025 Audi SQ6 e-tron is EPA-rated for 275 miles combined in the United States, but a controlled 75-mph highway test achieved 250 miles. A current EV Database estimate is about 292 miles, while Audi’s European WLTP figures reach as high as 598 km (371 miles) for some specifications. Those numbers are not interchangeable: test cycle, speed, temperature, wheels, tires, climate control, payload and battery condition can move the usable result substantially.
What range should you expect from an SQ6 e-tron?
For trip planning, use the EPA figure as the U.S. baseline and treat roughly 250 miles at steady highway speed as a realistic conservative anchor for a healthy vehicle in moderate conditions. City and mixed driving can be better, while cold weather, high speeds, snow tires, heavy loads and frequent cabin heating can reduce the distance between charges.

The SQ6 e-tron uses a 94.9-kWh net battery. Audi publishes different results for different markets and model years, and each test cycle measures the vehicle under its own protocol. The following figures are therefore reference points, not a single universal range.

|---|---|---|
| 275 miles | 2025 U.S. EPA-estimated combined range; 38 kWh/100 miles combined, 294 city miles and 251 highway miles (U.S. EPA/ENERGY STAR, 2025) | Best official U.S. planning baseline for a new, standard-condition vehicle |
| 250 miles | Car and Driver controlled 75-mph highway result from a 2025 SQ6 e-tron road test (2024 test publication) | Useful highway anchor; not a guarantee for every route, temperature or wheel package |
| About 292 miles | EV Database current MY24 estimated real range, based on 202 Wh/km | Model-based estimate rather than a standardized test |
| Up to 598 km (about 371 miles) | Audi technical specification maximum WLTP range for specified markets and configurations | Vehicle-to-vehicle comparison within WLTP; do not convert directly to EPA |
| 580 km (about 360 miles) | Audi MY26 SQ6 variant WLTP range, with 180 Wh/km listed consumption | Market- and specification-specific MY26 reference |
Audi itself cautions that driving style, temperature, available charge, air conditioning and optional equipment affect the result. WLTP is generally more optimistic than EPA for the same vehicle because the cycles differ, so multiplying a WLTP number by a simple conversion factor produces a false sense of precision.

Why EPA, WLTP and road-test numbers disagree
EPA combines city and highway operation
The U.S. rating is a standardized estimate intended for comparison among vehicles sold in the United States. It includes city and highway components, then reports a combined result. The EPA listing for the 2025 SQ6 e-tron also separates city and highway estimates, which is why the combined value should not be interpreted as a constant speed range.
WLTP is a different test cycle
Audi’s European specifications quote consumption in kWh per 100 km and range in kilometers under WLTP. The stated 17.5–18.4 kWh/100 km and up-to-598-km figures depend on the exact market, trim and equipment. Audi New Zealand describes its WLTP figures as a guide and as a way to compare vehicles, not as a promise of what every owner will achieve.
A highway test isolates the hardest common use case
At 75 mph, aerodynamic drag dominates the energy budget. A controlled result of 250 miles is more useful for an interstate trip than a city-heavy laboratory number, but it still reflects one vehicle configuration, route, weather window and test protocol. Headwinds, rain, elevation and traffic can all move the result.
How speed changes SQ6 e-tron efficiency
Audi says speed has a much greater effect on energy consumption in an electric vehicle than in a combustion-engine car. The reason is aerodynamic drag: as speed rises, the power required to push air aside rises sharply. Rolling resistance also increases with speed, but aerodynamic losses become the larger factor on a fast motorway.

What that means on a trip
- A steady 75-mph cruise will normally use more energy per mile than a 60–65-mph cruise on the same road.
- Repeated hard acceleration wastes energy as heat and then requires additional energy to restore speed.
- Traffic that forces frequent braking can be less efficient than a smooth, moderate-speed flow even when the average speed looks similar.
- Strong headwinds act like a higher road speed; a tailwind can produce the opposite effect.
If arriving with a larger reserve matters more than shaving minutes from the journey, lowering cruising speed is usually the most dependable range improvement available while driving. Use the car’s trip-energy display to see the effect on your route rather than relying on a universal miles-per-hour conversion.
Why winter range falls
Cold weather affects both the battery and the systems that keep occupants comfortable. Audi notes that ambient temperature changes battery chemistry, reducing maximum available range, and that battery temperature influences regenerative braking and charging performance.
Battery effects
A cold battery accepts and delivers energy less readily until it warms. The vehicle may limit recuperation after a cold start, and more energy can be spent bringing the pack into its preferred operating range. These effects are separate from the extra electricity used for cabin heat.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCabin-heating effects
Heating is especially consequential at low average speeds because the fixed energy used to warm the cabin represents a larger share of each mile. Seat and steering-wheel heat can be more economical than raising the entire cabin temperature, although comfort and safety should take priority.

Cold-weather habits
- Plug in and pre-condition the cabin before departure so initial heating energy comes from the charger.
- Allow extra time for battery conditioning before a high-power DC stop.
- Expect lower recuperation immediately after a cold start and drive smoothly until the battery warms.
- Check tire pressure more often as temperatures change; cold air lowers pressure and increases rolling resistance.
There is no complete seasonal table covering every SQ6 e-tron wheel, tire and climate combination. Treat owner reports from a particular winter as illustrative, not as a universal percentage loss.
Other factors that reduce or improve efficiency
Wheels and tires
Optional wheels and tires can change rolling resistance, aerodynamic drag and mass. Audi includes rim size and optional equipment among the variables used in range calculations. Keep all tires at the pressure specified for your exact vehicle and load condition; do not substitute a generic pressure from another Q6 or SQ6 configuration.
Payload and accessories
Passengers and luggage add mass, so the vehicle needs more energy to accelerate and climb. Roof boxes and bike racks add aerodynamic drag, which can be more damaging at motorway speed than their weight suggests. Remove unused accessories before a long trip, especially a roof box or rack that is not carrying equipment.
Recommended Free Tools
Climate control
Air conditioning and heating draw from the high-voltage battery. Cooling usually has a smaller impact than resistance heating, but both matter during long stops in extreme weather. Pre-conditioning while connected to a charger shifts that initial demand away from the traction battery.

State of charge and recuperation
Regenerative braking is not a fixed amount of energy available on every drive. Battery temperature and state of charge determine how much power the pack can accept. Audi says the Q6 e-tron can cover about 95 percent of everyday braking with regeneration and can recuperate up to 220 kW under ideal conditions. Those are system capabilities, not a promise that every stop will return the same energy.
Step-by-step: maximize range before and during a trip
- Set the vehicle to Efficiency mode. Open Audi drive select and choose Efficiency. This prioritizes lower energy use in the vehicle’s drive responses; exact menu wording can vary by software version.
- Check the tires. Inspect pressures when the tires are cold and set them to the door-jamb or owner’s-manual specification for your wheel and load. Look for damage or uneven wear before a long journey.
- Remove unnecessary drag. Take off an unused roof box, ski carrier or bike rack. Pack heavy items low and inside the vehicle when possible.
- Pre-condition while plugged in. Schedule cabin heating or cooling before departure with the vehicle connected. This preserves more battery energy for propulsion.
- Choose a smooth speed plan. Use a moderate, steady highway speed if the route has limited charging options. Accelerate progressively and anticipate traffic so that braking is not abrupt.
- Use navigation-based battery preparation. Enter the destination in Audi navigation and enable the e-tron route planner before a planned DC stop. The SQ6 e-tron can precondition the battery so it reaches a suitable temperature for the highest compatible charging rate.
- Watch the energy display. Compare your current consumption with the route estimate. A rising kWh-per-mile figure is an early signal to reduce speed, check pressure or reassess climate settings.
- Use regeneration appropriately. Let regenerative braking recover energy during normal deceleration, while recognizing that a cold or nearly full battery may accept less power. Friction brakes remain necessary for hard stops.
Charging strategy and what the numbers mean
Audi lists up to 270 kW DC charging and about 21 minutes from 10 to 80 percent under ideal conditions. The charging curve is not flat: power normally tapers as the battery fills, so the final portion takes disproportionately longer.
In a related Q6 e-tron with the same battery, Car and Driver measured a 10–90 percent DC session in 35 minutes, peaking at 264 kW and averaging 129 kW. That result demonstrates why an average is more useful than a peak headline. Charger capability, battery temperature, starting state of charge and site conditions determine the actual session.

Plan stops around usable energy, not the dashboard maximum
For a long highway leg, choose a departure charge that covers the route with a reserve for weather, traffic and detours. Arriving at a charger with a lower state of charge usually allows faster early-session power, while charging to 100 percent is often unnecessary when another reliable stop is available. The appropriate reserve depends on station spacing and your tolerance for risk.

AC charging at home or destination
The MY26 Audi specification identifies a Type 2 CCS inlet and 11-kW maximum AC charging. A correctly rated Type 2 cable is relevant for compatible installations, but connector, amperage and electrical requirements must be verified for the owner’s market and property. Do not assume that a cable or wall circuit rated for another vehicle can deliver the SQ6 e-tron’s maximum AC rate.
How to interpret an owner’s range report
Two owners can report different miles per charge without either report being wrong. Before comparing numbers, record the conditions that produced them:
- Test cycle: EPA, WLTP, dashboard estimate or a measured road trip.
- Speed profile: city streets, mixed roads or sustained highway speed.
- Temperature: ambient conditions, wind, rain and whether the battery began cold.
- Configuration: model year, wheel diameter, tire type and optional equipment.
- Climate use: heating, air conditioning, defrosting and pre-conditioning.
- Load: occupants, luggage, roof equipment and trailer use, if applicable.
- Battery state: starting and ending percentages and whether charging was limited by a full or cold pack.
A dashboard range estimate is a forecast based on recent consumption, not a measurement of fixed remaining miles. If recent driving was fast or cold, the estimate can fall quickly; after efficient urban driving, it can rise. Compare measured energy use over several trips rather than reacting to one predicted number.
Troubleshooting unexpectedly low range
Start with the simplest checks
- Confirm tire pressures against the vehicle specification.
- Check whether a roof rack, box or carrier remains installed.
- Review recent average speed and climate-control use.
- Look for unusual wind, rain, snow, steep grades or stop-and-go traffic.
- Compare the trip meter’s energy consumption with a similar route, not just the estimated miles remaining.
When a service inspection is appropriate
Arrange professional diagnosis if consumption remains abnormally high over repeated comparable trips, a tire loses pressure, the vehicle reports a battery or thermal-management warning, charging power is consistently far below expectations in suitable conditions, or regenerative braking remains restricted after the battery is warm and the state of charge is moderate. A single cold-weather or high-speed trip is not enough evidence of a fault.
A practical range-planning framework
Use three scenarios instead of one promise when planning an important journey:
| Scenario | Assumptions | Planning use |
|---|---|---|
| Efficient mixed driving | Moderate temperatures, smooth acceleration, moderate speeds, limited climate demand and correct tire pressure | Estimate how far the car may travel between routine charges |
| Highway baseline | Sustained motorway speed; use the 250-mile 75-mph road-test result as an anchor, then allow for wind, rain and reserve | Set realistic interstate charging stops |
| Cold or demanding conditions | Low temperature, cabin heat, winter tires, heavy load, strong wind or steep terrain | Choose earlier charging stops and a larger reserve |
This framework is deliberately conditional. No published figure covers every combination of speed, weather, wheels and payload, and the SQ6 e-tron’s own estimate will adapt as those conditions change.
Bottom line for SQ6 e-tron owners
Use 275 EPA miles as the official 2025 U.S. combined reference, but plan a fast highway journey around a result near the 250-mile 75-mph test rather than the laboratory maximum. WLTP figures up to 598 km and the MY26 580-km specification are useful within their markets and cycle, not direct U.S. promises. The largest controllable gains come from reducing sustained speed, pre-conditioning while plugged in, maintaining tire pressure, removing aerodynamic accessories, using Efficiency mode and preparing the battery before a DC stop.
