Audi’s 2025 Q5 is a full redesign, not a minor refresh. The third-generation lineup adds power, a reconfigurable rear seat and a larger digital cockpit. Audi called the Q5 its best-selling model family, but that description is the automaker’s—not an independently verified sales ranking. The key choices are the regular Q5 or performance-focused SQ5, each offered with a conventional SUV or coupe-like Sportback body.
What changed for the 2025 Audi Q5?
Audi describes the 2025 Q5 as the third generation, built with the Q5 Sportback on its Premium Platform Combustion architecture. In the United States, Audi said deliveries would begin in May 2025. The most notable changes are the redesigned cabin and adjustable rear seat, alongside higher engine output for both Q5 and SQ5 models.

How much more powerful is the new Q5?
Audi’s published figures show a modest output increase for the regular Q5 and a larger engine and power step for the SQ5. All four U.S. 2025 variants in the launch announcement pair their engine with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and standard quattro all-wheel drive.

These are manufacturer specifications and comparisons with the previous generation; they do not establish real-world acceleration or fuel economy. For everyday use, the Q5 is the four-cylinder choice, while the SQ5 is the higher-output V6 option.
Q5 SUV or Sportback: what is the difference?
The regular Q5 has the conventional SUV body; the Sportback uses a coupe-like roofline. Audi’s maximum cargo figures with the rear seats folded favor the conventional body. The rear bench slides and tilts, allowing occupants to adjust the balance between passenger room and cargo space.

The launch release gives these cargo figures for Q5 SUV and Q5 Sportback; it does not provide separate figures for the SQ5 body styles. Choose the SUV if the stated folded-seat cargo capacity is the priority, or the Sportback if its roofline is the deciding preference.
What is new inside?
Audi’s curved OLED “Digital Stage” combines an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit with a 14.5-inch MMI touch display. A 10.9-inch passenger display is available with Prestige trim, so it is not standard across the lineup. Audi says the infotainment system runs Android Automotive OS and includes the Audi Application Store.

Other cabin changes include a larger center-armrest storage compartment, smaller storage areas, a 15-watt inductive cooled wireless-phone charging tray and four USB-C ports. Optional front USB ports support up to 60 watts; rear ports support up to a combined 200 watts. Audi assistant and other connected functions can depend on equipment and an Audi connect subscription, so the presence of the main screens does not mean every connected feature is included.
What did the 2025 lineup cost at launch?
Audi’s April 24, 2025 U.S. release listed the following base MSRPs. Each excluded the $1,295 destination and delivery charge, as well as taxes, title, options and dealer charges. These are historical launch prices, not current prices or transaction quotes.

- Choose the body: the SUV has the larger published folded-seat cargo volume; the Sportback has a coupe-like profile.
- Check the exact trim: the passenger display and some assistance and connected features depend on trim, equipment or subscription.
- Verify safety-award applicability: Audi says the 2025 Q5 and Q5 Sportback earned the 2025 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ for vehicles produced after July 2025. Check the vehicle’s production date and the IIHS listing rather than assuming every 2025 example qualifies.
Audi cautions that driver-assistance features are not substitutes for attentive driving.
