Audi’s Q9 is no longer just a planned 2026 launch: Audi publicly unveiled the full-size SUV in New York in July 2026. The company said orders would open at the end of July and customer deliveries would begin in November. The Q9 is Audi’s new top SUV, with seven seats standard and an optional six-seat layout. Its engine and price depend on market: Audi lists a diesel Q9 TDI from €108,400 in Germany, while its U.S. announcement specifies a gasoline V6 but does not establish U.S. pricing.
What happened to Audi’s 2026 Q9 launch?
Audi publicly unveiled the Q9 in New York in July 2026. In a July 29 announcement, Audi said orders would open at the end of July and deliveries would start in November. Those are the manufacturer’s stated dates; an order opening is not the same as a vehicle being delivered to a customer.
Audi describes the Q9 as its first large full-size SUV and the new top model in its SUV portfolio. The U.S. website calls it the 2027 Audi Q9, which is a model-year designation and does not change the 2026 unveiling and launch timeline.
How large is the Q9, and how many people can it seat?
Audi gives the Q9’s dimensions as 5.31 meters long, 2.21 meters wide including mirrors, and a 3.14-meter wheelbase. These are Audi-published figures, not independent measurements. The size makes parking space and garage clearance worth checking, particularly because the published width includes the mirrors.

Audi says seven seats are standard, arranged across three rows. The optional six-seat cabin replaces the second-row bench with two individual electrically adjustable seats.
- In the seven-seat version, all three second-row seats have ISOFIX mounting points. Check the individual child restraint’s fit and installation instructions; Audi’s statement does not establish compatibility for any specific seat.
- Audi lists five-zone automatic climate control, electrically operated doors and a panoramic sunroof among the Q9’s features.
Audi’s earlier interior preview also described Qi2.2 wireless charging pads, USB-C ports rated up to 100 watts and a cargo rail system with sliding hooks and adjustable anchors. Because those details came from a preview and may vary by market or final configuration, confirm them in the current regional order guide before relying on them.

Which engines and prices has Audi announced?
Published specifications differ by market. Audi’s German launch details describe a diesel Q9 TDI, while the company’s U.S. release specifies a gasoline V6 for the Q9. The German price and diesel output should not be treated as U.S. specifications.

Audi says the Q9 uses an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and permanent quattro all-wheel drive in its German model information. Its July release says Q9 and SQ9 models have adaptive air suspension and rear-axle steering as standard, and can tow up to 3,500 kg. Equipment and powertrain availability can vary by market, so these family-level statements do not establish that every regional configuration is identical.

When will the Q9 be available in the United States?
Audi’s July announcement says the Q9 is intended for the U.S. and other international markets and gives the general schedule of orders at the end of July and deliveries beginning in November 2026. The company also said the Q9 family would continue its U.S. presence starting in mid-2026. Audi’s U.S. model page labels the vehicle the 2027 Q9, but the reviewed information does not give a U.S. price or a more detailed delivery timetable. Buyers should check with Audi or a local dealer for market-specific ordering and delivery information.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner called the Q9 “the new flagship of the Audi portfolio” and described it as the company’s first large full-size SUV. That is Audi’s positioning for the vehicle, rather than an independent assessment of how it compares with rivals.
