For a base gasoline comparison, the 2026 Audi Q8 55 TFSI starts at $75,600 and is rated at 335 hp; Porsche’s current U.S. gasoline lineup shows the 2027 Cayenne starting at $89,900 with 348 hp. Audi claims a quicker 0–60 mph time, while Porsche offers a broader range of gasoline and hybrid powertrains. These are different model years and manufacturer figures—not a matched independent test—so the right choice depends on the specific trim, final price, and how you plan to use the SUV.
What the base-model comparison shows
The Audi figures below refer to the 2026 Q8 55 TFSI. Porsche’s current U.S. gasoline overview displays 2027 Cayenne models, so the figures are not for the same model year. Both manufacturers list all-wheel drive, but that alone does not establish which vehicle has better traction or handling.
| Measure | 2026 Audi Q8 55 TFSI | 2027 Porsche Cayenne gasoline |
|---|---|---|
| Starting MSRP | $75,600, excluding $1,295 destination and other charges | $89,900; Porsche excludes options, taxes, title, registration, delivery/processing/handling, dealer charges, and potential tariffs |
| Power | 335 hp and 369 lb-ft | 348 hp for the base Cayenne |
| Manufacturer 0–60 mph claim | 5.5 seconds | 5.7 seconds for the base Cayenne |
| Drivetrain | quattro all-wheel drive standard | All-wheel drive listed for the Cayenne variants |
| Cargo and towing | 60.7 cu ft with rear seats folded; up to 7,700 lb towing when properly equipped | Comparable gasoline figures not established on the cited overview |
| Fuel economy | EPA estimates of 17 city, 23 highway, and 19 combined mpg; actual mileage varies | Comparable EPA figures not established here |

The base Cayenne has 13 hp more on the published figures, while Audi’s claimed 0–60 time is 0.2 seconds quicker. Treat those as manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Acceleration claims can depend on variant and equipment; Porsche, for example, specifies Sport Chrono for the E-Hybrid’s 0–60 figure.

How the prices compare
The published starting MSRPs put the Q8 $14,300 below the base Cayenne before options and other charges. That is a comparison of entry prices, not a prediction of the difference between two vehicles configured for the same buyer. Audi’s cited $75,600 price excludes $1,295 destination as well as other exclusions; Porsche’s $89,900 price excludes options and several taxes, fees, and charges. Local dealer pricing and vehicle availability can also change the amount a buyer pays. Get current, itemized quotes for the exact model year and equipment before treating the gap as a real-world saving.

Base gasoline models
The Q8 comparison is specifically the 2026 55 TFSI gasoline model. Porsche’s gasoline overview lists a base 2027 Cayenne, alongside more powerful trims. Comparing the Q8 only with a high-output Cayenne would not represent the base-model matchup.

Cayenne E-Hybrid
Porsche lists the 2027 Cayenne E-Hybrid from $103,100, with 463 hp combined and a manufacturer 0–60 mph claim of 4.6 seconds when equipped with Sport Chrono. That plug-in hybrid is a different powertrain and price point from the gasoline Q8. The cited figures do not establish a like-for-like comparison of electric range, charging, or fuel use.
Cayenne Electric
Porsche separately lists a 2026 Cayenne Electric, starting at $109,000. Porsche claims up to 435 hp in overboost and 0–60 mph in 4.5 seconds with Launch Control. Its stated 10%–80% DC charging time of 16 minutes applies only under optimal conditions: a CCS fast-charging station above 390 kW, 850 V, and 520 A; battery temperature of 60°F; initial state of charge of 9%; and remaining range below 37 miles. Porsche also lists up to 7,716 lb towing. These are conditional manufacturer claims for an electric vehicle, not figures to substitute for the gasoline Cayenne or Q8.

Consider the Q8 if entry price and the listed gasoline specification matter most
Audi’s published starting MSRP is lower than Porsche’s base Cayenne price, and the Q8 has the higher published base-model torque figure. Audi also publishes its cargo volume, towing capacity when properly equipped, and EPA fuel-economy estimates. Those details can help shoppers screen the Q8 against practical needs, but they do not prove it has more cargo room, greater towing capacity, or better efficiency than a Cayenne.

Consider the Cayenne if you want a wider powertrain and performance range
Porsche’s listed lineup includes the base gasoline Cayenne, a plug-in hybrid, higher-output trims, and a separately listed electric model. That range gives buyers more distinct powertrain choices, but price and performance vary by trim. Decide which Cayenne you mean before comparing it with the Q8.
Resolve the ownership questions with local, independent evidence
The cited manufacturer pages do not establish comparative reliability, long-term ownership cost, owner satisfaction, comfort, real-world efficiency, or a definitive cargo and towing winner. For those questions, consult independent evidence specific to the model year and powertrain, and inspect or test-drive the exact vehicles. Neither manufacturer’s acceleration or power figures substitute for a head-to-head road test.

How to make a fair shortlist
- Match model year and trim. The cited Audi is a 2026 Q8 55 TFSI; Porsche’s gasoline overview presents 2027 models. Confirm the model year and availability at local dealers.
- Match powertrain. Compare gasoline with gasoline unless you deliberately want to evaluate a plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle as a separate choice.
- Request itemized prices. Include selected options, destination or delivery charges, taxes, registration, dealer fees, and any other local costs.
- Check the specific use case. Verify space, towing requirements, and fuel or charging needs against figures for the exact vehicle. Do not infer a Porsche cargo or gasoline towing figure from the available comparison data.
- Separate claims from evidence. Treat the cited horsepower, acceleration, mileage, and charging figures as manufacturer claims with their stated qualifications; use independent testing and ownership sources for questions they do not answer.
