Audi ended Q8 e-tron production at its Brussels factory on February 28, 2025, and closed the site. The Q8 e-tron was the only model built there, and the European Commission says low sales and the absence of a planned replacement led Audi to bring the factory’s previously expected 2027 production end forward.
Why is Audi discontinuing the Q8 e-tron?
The decision combined weak demand for the Brussels-built model with no replacement planned for the factory. In its account of the closure, the European Commission says low sales of the Q8 e-tron led Audi to move the production end forward from 2027 to 2025. The Commission also identifies the Q8 e-tron as the only model produced at the site and says no replacement model was planned. European Commission proposal 52026PC0002
Audi’s own 2024 report shows how sharply output had fallen: the Brussels site produced 53,555 fully electric models in 2023 and 15,212 in 2024. Audi attributed the decline to production adjustments for the Q8 e-tron in response to falling incoming orders. Audi Report 2024
When did Audi Brussels close?
Audi announced on January 27, 2025, that production would end on February 28 and that the Brussels plant would close. The company said management and social partners had agreed on an employee social plan. Audi’s later annual report records production as discontinued at the end of February. Audi’s 2025 report lists 308 fully electric models produced at Brussels during the year and says production there terminated in the first quarter. That is a closure-year total, not a full year of production. Audi Report 2025

What did the closure mean for employees?
Audi said its social plan covered approximately 3,000 employees. Measures it described included a company bonus, additional support, special age-related measures for employees over 60, coaching, and outplacement services; the announcement does not mean every employee used each service. Does the factory closure mean Q8 e-tron service ended?
No such conclusion follows from the production shutdown. The sources establishing the factory closure and end of production do not establish that warranty coverage, parts availability, servicing, or charging support ended. Owners should check current arrangements with Audi or an authorized dealer in their market.
