The VX2’s removable batteries are a decisive advantage if your scooter is parked away from a power socket. Rizta becomes more compelling when a matched variant, ownership price and local service access fit your route and budget. Compare the same model year and battery class before deciding; family names alone hide important differences.
Start with the exact scooter, not the badge
“Ather Rizta” and “VIDA VX2” each describe a model family rather than one fixed specification. Ather’s current specifications list Rizta battery capacities of 2.7 kWh, 2.9 kWh and 3.5 kWh. VIDA material covers multiple VX2 variants and configurations, including VX2 Go and VX2 Plus. A comparison that pairs a small Rizta battery with a larger VX2 pack, or a battery-inclusive purchase with a battery-as-a-service plan, can produce a misleading winner.

Write the full variant name, model year and battery configuration on both sides of your comparison. Ask the dealer to put the same details on the quotation and the invoice. If a salesperson gives only “Rizta” or “VX2” without a capacity or plan name, you do not yet have a like-for-like comparison.

Rizta variants identified in official material
Ather’s current specification page lists installed battery capacities of 2.7 kWh, 2.9 kWh and 3.5 kWh. These are capacities for different variants, not three packs fitted to one scooter. Ather also published a 2025 specification sheet; because the lineup can change, treat that dated sheet as historical unless the dealer confirms that its figures apply to the vehicle being offered in 2026.

VX2 configurations identified in official material
VIDA’s specification sheet lists VX2 Go and VX2 Plus variants and marks the batteries as removable. The sheet identifies a standard VX2 Plus configuration with a 3.4 kWh battery, 142 km IDC range and 100 km Eco-mode real-world range. VIDA’s current VX2 Plus product page also presents a newer 4.4 configuration with a 187 km certified-range claim. Those figures are not interchangeable: the 4.4 configuration and the standard 3.4 kWh version are different offerings, and the publication date of the specification-sheet result is not stated. Confirm which configuration is in current stock.

Range: separate IDC, certified and real-world labels
Range is useful only when the label, battery and test conditions match. IDC or another certified range is a standardised test figure, not a promise that every rider will travel that distance. VIDA separately states that real-world range depends on riding behaviour, battery health, rider weight, road and vehicle conditions, and tyre pressure. A certified 187 km claim for the VX2 Plus 4.4 configuration therefore cannot be compared directly with the 100 km Eco real-world figure listed for the standard 3.4 kWh Plus configuration.
Build a route-based range requirement
Measure your actual round trip, including detours and a return trip in traffic. Then compare it with the real-world figure for the exact battery and riding mode, leaving reserve for weather, tyre pressure changes, ageing and an unplanned stop. If your daily distance is close to the published real-world number, select a larger battery or plan an intermediate charge rather than relying on an IDC headline.

Questions to ask about a range claim
- Is the number IDC, another certified test value, or a real-world estimate?
- Which battery capacity and riding mode produced it?
- Does the figure apply to the current model year and the vehicle identification number on the quote?
- What reserve does the dashboard retain when it displays zero or a low-battery warning?
Charging: the VX2’s removable batteries can change the decision
The clearest functional difference in the sourced material is that VIDA’s VX2 specification sheet marks its batteries removable. A rider who parks in a basement, on a public street or in a rented building can carry the pack to an indoor socket instead of bringing mains power to the scooter. That convenience can outweigh a modest difference in certified range.
Removability also creates practical checks. Ask for the battery’s weight, dimensions, lifting points and charging equipment; the reviewed material does not state a pack weight. Confirm that your building permits indoor charging, that the socket is earthed and that the charging location is dry and ventilated. Check whether one or both packs must be removed, whether the scooter can be ridden with a pack left out, and how the battery is secured against theft.
Rizta’s cited specifications describe installed battery capacities. They do not, by themselves, establish that every Rizta battery is removable or fixed. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the supplied variant rather than assuming that another Rizta trim uses the same arrangement. For either scooter, obtain the exact charging time, charger rating and warranty conditions in writing for the selected battery; those values vary by configuration and are not stated consistently across the reviewed documents.

Price: compare total outlay, not a BaaS teaser
No matched, current on-road price winner is established by the available comparisons. Third-party comparison pages show base prices or selected Delhi variants, but they do not put the same city, date, battery, insurance, registration and offer conditions on both scooters. Use them to identify variants, then replace them with dated manufacturer or dealer quotations.
What a battery-inclusive quote should show
- Ex-showroom price for the exact battery and trim
- Registration, road tax and insurance
- Charger and installation, if charged separately
- Accessories, extended warranty and service packages
- Subsidy eligibility, its issuing authority and whether it is already deducted
- Delivery, handling or documentation fees
How VIDA BaaS changes the arithmetic
VIDA describes BaaS as a lower initial purchase price that excludes the battery, with battery usage charged on a pay-per-use basis. That sticker price cannot be compared directly with a Rizta quotation that includes its battery. Request the BaaS rate, billing unit, minimum commitment, contract term, taxes, payment schedule, battery replacement responsibility, transfer rules if you sell the scooter, and the cost of buying out or ending the plan. Calculate the expected charge over your ownership period and add it to the scooter payment, insurance, service and electricity.
For a fair comparison, create two totals: the amount paid on delivery and the projected cost for your intended ownership term. A plan can reduce the cash needed on day one while costing more over several years, or it can suit a high-mileage rider if the usage terms are favourable. Do not label either outcome “cheaper” until the same distance, term and inclusions are used.

Performance: compare matched modes and model years
Top speed, acceleration and riding modes should be compared only between the exact Rizta and VX2 variants offered in the same model year. The current VX2 Plus product page and the older specification-sheet result surface different configurations, so combining their values would imply a specification match that the sources do not establish. The reviewed material also contains no independent acceleration, braking or range test.
Ask for a written performance table showing top speed, claimed 0–40 km/h or 0–60 km/h time if supplied, motor rating, riding modes and any speed or power limit in each mode. During a test ride, repeat the same route with the expected load: solo, with a passenger, or with a child-seat arrangement if permitted. Pay attention to low-speed throttle smoothness, hill starts, regenerative-braking behaviour, steering at walking speed and stability over broken surfaces rather than judging only the first burst of acceleration.

Passenger and family practicality
Both models are often considered for daily commuting and family errands, but published family suitability is not a substitute for your own fit check. Take the rider who will use the scooter most, plus the regular passenger, to the showroom. Check whether both feet can reach the floor comfortably, whether the passenger has a secure grab point, and whether the seat remains usable with a helmet or bag.

What to inspect before signing
- Seat length and cushioning for the longest routine trip
- Floorboard space for grocery bags or a work backpack
- Under-seat storage with the supplied charger and helmet
- Mirror visibility with a passenger aboard
- Turning radius, stand effort and balance while reversing
- Ground clearance on your parking ramp and speed breakers
- Access to an authorised service centre and roadside assistance in your area
For the VX2, add the real task of carrying the removable battery through stairs, lifts and doorways. A feature that solves charging can become a nuisance if the pack is heavy for the person who must move it every day. For the Rizta, confirm how you will charge at the regular parking spot and what happens during a power outage or a temporary change of parking.
Warranty and ownership support require written terms
The reviewed Ather and VIDA material does not establish a matched warranty winner. Coverage can differ by variant, battery, offer, mileage or time limit, and optional extensions can change the result. Ask for the warranty booklet or a VIN-linked document before paying a deposit.
Warranty questions for both scooters
- What are the separate vehicle, battery and charger warranty periods?
- Are capacity-loss thresholds defined, and how is battery health measured?
- Do removable batteries have different inspection, water-ingress or transport conditions?
- Which parts are excluded as wear items?
- Does scheduled service need to be completed within a mileage or time window?
- What happens to warranty coverage if the scooter is sold or moved to another city?
- What is included in any paid extension, and what are its claim limits?
Record the name of the dealer representative and the document version. A verbal promise about battery replacement, roadside assistance or software support is difficult to enforce if it is absent from the written offer.
A step-by-step method to choose Rizta or VX2
- Set the use case. Write your daily kilometres, maximum passenger load, parking location, access to a socket and expected ownership period.
- Shortlist one exact Rizta and one exact VX2. Record battery capacity, model year, trim, software or riding-mode package and whether the battery is included.
- Collect same-day, same-city quotes. Demand itemised on-road totals, subsidy treatment, insurance, charger, accessories and delivery fees.
- Normalise the battery cost. For BaaS, add the usage charge over your planned distance and term; for a battery-inclusive scooter, include the battery in the initial and ownership totals.
- Match range labels. Compare IDC with IDC or certified with certified, then use the relevant real-world estimate to check your route reserve.
- Verify charging. Demonstrate the VX2 battery removal process, confirm pack weight and outlet rules, and confirm the Rizta charging arrangement at your parking place.
- Read the warranty documents. Check battery coverage, capacity thresholds, service obligations and transfer terms for the exact VIN or variant.
- Test ride with your real load. Include a passenger if that is normal, and evaluate low-speed control, hills, braking, storage and manoeuvrability.
- Choose using a written scorecard. Weight total cost, charging convenience, range reserve, passenger fit, service access and warranty certainty according to your priorities instead of selecting on a single headline number.
Choose the Rizta when these conditions fit
- Your preferred Rizta battery and trim have a transparent, battery-inclusive on-road quote that fits your budget.
- You can charge reliably where the scooter is parked and do not need to carry a battery indoors.
- The exact Rizta variant gives your route enough real-world reserve after allowing for traffic, passenger weight and battery ageing.
- The local Ather service location, written warranty and test-ride ergonomics suit your household better than the equivalent VX2 offer.
Choose the VX2 when these conditions fit
- You cannot run a cable to the parking space and the removable batteries solve that problem safely.
- You are comfortable with the lifting, storage and charging routine after physically handling the pack.
- The exact VX2 configuration’s range label and battery size meet your route, and the dealer confirms current-stock applicability.
- The BaaS contract or battery-included quote remains competitive after adding usage charges, taxes and your expected ownership term.
Pitfalls that produce a false winner
- Comparing family names only: a 2.7 kWh Rizta is not equivalent to every 3.4 or 4.4 kWh VX2 configuration.
- Mixing range labels: IDC, certified and real-world values answer different questions.
- Using an old sheet as a current lineup: the dated 2025 Rizta document and the undated VIDA specification-sheet result may not describe 2026 stock.
- Calling BaaS price the ownership price: the battery-usage bill and contract terms are part of the cost.
- Assuming removability is effortless: verify weight, stairs, storage, security and charging permissions.
- Declaring a warranty winner from an advertisement: coverage limits and add-ons must match the selected VIN and offer.
- Treating a specification as a road test: no independent performance test is established here, so manufacturer claims should remain labelled as claims.
- Using a generic online price: city, date, subsidy, insurance and included equipment can change the on-road total.
Bottom line for a real purchase decision
If charging away from the scooter is your main obstacle, start with the VIDA VX2 because its documented removable batteries address that constraint directly. If you have dependable parking power, compare the Rizta and VX2 variants on a normalised ownership total, matched range labels and a written warranty rather than on a family-level headline. The final choice should be made only after a same-city quote, a physical test ride with your usual load and confirmation that the battery, range and payment structure on paper are the ones you will actually receive.
