There is no single winner between the Ather Rizta and Bajaj Chetak. The right choice depends on the exact variant, battery, city quote, charging arrangement and the way you ride. Ather’s Rizta S and Z use different battery and feature combinations, while Bajaj’s current C Series spans the C2501, C3001, C3501, C3502 and C3503. Compare a named variant in the same city before deciding; headline specifications alone do not establish real-world range, reliability or ownership cost.
Start with the exact scooters being compared
“Ather Rizta” and “Bajaj Chetak” are model families rather than single, identical products. A fair comparison names both variants, records the quote date and separates ex-showroom from on-road pricing. A base Rizta should not be compared with a flagship Chetak and then presented as a general verdict.

Ather’s current specifications page lists the Rizta S and Rizta Z. Depending on configuration, the range of installed batteries includes 2.7 kWh, 2.9 kWh and 3.5 kWh, with manufacturer-listed IDC ranges of 123 km or 161 km. Equipment is not identical: features such as Google Maps navigation and Magic Twist are listed on the Z, and a pillion backrest is part of the family-scooter positioning. Confirm the equipment of the specific S or Z you are offered.

Bajaj’s 29 April 2026 announcement covers the C2501, C3001, C3501, C3502 and C3503. Across that line, batteries are 2.5 kWh, 3.0 kWh or 3.5 kWh; claimed ranges are 113 km, 127 km, 151 km or 153 km, depending on model; and top speeds are 60, 70 or 80 km/h. The exact battery, range, equipment and price must be checked against the named model in the current local brochure or quotation.

Range figures in this table are IDC or manufacturer claims, not results from a common road test. The differing test conditions and variant mix mean they should not be treated as a direct prediction of how far either scooter will travel in your commute.
Range: use the number to choose a battery, not to predict every trip
Ather lists 123 km and 161 km IDC range for different Rizta battery configurations. Bajaj’s April 2026 C Series announcement lists 113 km to 153 km claimed range across its models. A larger battery can reduce charging frequency, but actual distance varies with rider weight, speed, traffic, gradients, temperature, tyre pressure, payload and riding mode.
Ask the dealer to identify the exact battery capacity and the standard test figure on the written quote. Then compare that scooter with your normal daily distance plus a reserve for detours and weather. Neither manufacturer figure is an independent, head-to-head real-world measurement, and no established comparative reliability or ownership-cost statistic supports declaring one lineup superior.
How to translate a range claim into a buying decision
Start with the longest routine journey you actually make, not an occasional weekend trip. Include the return trip, school or shopping detours and the distance to a backup charging point. If your daily use is short and predictable, a smaller battery may satisfy your schedule; if you cannot charge every night, the larger-battery configuration may be more convenient even when its purchase price is higher. This is a usage decision, not proof that the larger pack is intrinsically better.
Ask whether the displayed range is tied to a particular battery, riding mode or software setting. Record the answer beside the variant name. When you test ride, note the starting battery percentage and the distance covered, but do not treat one short ride as a controlled range test. Traffic, gradients, rider weight and weather can make the result different from the IDC or claimed figure.
Charging: check the included equipment and your parking supply
Rizta charging times
Ather’s specification page gives configuration-specific home-charging figures. Depending on the battery and charger combination, 0–80% is listed as 6 hours or 3 hours 25 minutes, while 0–100% is listed as 7 hours 25 minutes or 4 hours 30 minutes. These are manufacturer times, not a guarantee for every electrical installation. Confirm which charger is included with your chosen Rizta and whether an upgraded charger is optional.
Chetak charging times
Bajaj lists approximately 2 hours 25 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes for 0–80% across the current C Series. The exact time depends on the model and charging equipment. Ask whether the quoted time assumes the supplied home charger, a particular power rating or an accessory charger, and check the cable length against your parking location.

- Measure the distance from your regular parking space to the electrical outlet.
- Confirm the outlet’s voltage, earthing and weather protection with the dealer or a qualified electrician.
- Ask for the charger model, cable length and installation inclusions in writing.
- Check the expected charge added during your overnight parking window rather than relying only on a 0–100% headline.
- If you cannot charge at home, map dependable public options near work and home before placing a booking.
Also ask what happens if the scooter is parked away from home for several days. Clarify whether the charger can be removed easily, where it should be stored, and whether public charging is supported or merely possible with a separate accessory. A convenient charging routine can matter more than a small difference in claimed range.

Performance and speed
Both Rizta S and Z are listed at 4.3 kW peak power, 22 Nm maximum torque, an 80 km/h top speed and 0–40 km/h acceleration in 4.7 seconds. Those figures make the two Rizta variants straightforward to compare on paper, although load and battery state affect acceleration in use.
The C Series is deliberately broader: the April 2026 update identifies 60, 70 and 80 km/h top-speed versions. A C2501 or another lower-speed model may be adequate for urban traffic, while an 80 km/h version gives more headroom on faster roads. Do not infer acceleration or overtaking ability from top speed alone; obtain the specification for the particular Chetak model you are considering.
During a test ride, use the same route for both scooters if possible. Check the first few metres from a stop, low-speed balance in traffic, braking when a passenger is aboard and stability over the surfaces you normally encounter. Ask the salesperson whether a ride mode changes the quoted performance. A specification sheet cannot show how easily you can place your feet, turn in a narrow lane or hold the scooter on a slope.
Family practicality and storage
Ather presents the Rizta as a family scooter and highlights a pillion backrest. That focus can matter if you regularly carry a passenger, but the backrest and other convenience equipment should be confirmed as standard on the variant or package in your quote.
For the C Series, assess the physical scooter rather than assuming every model has the same storage or passenger equipment. Sit on the exact display unit with both feet planted, test the grab rail and floorboard with your usual passenger, and place your helmet or everyday bag in the boot. Storage capacity, loading shape and access can be more important than a small difference in claimed range for family use.
Take the helmet you normally wear to the showroom. A boot that accepts one helmet may not accept your particular full-face shape, rain gear or charging cable at the same time. Check whether the seat opens fully in your parking space and whether a passenger can mount without catching the floorboard. These simple checks can prevent a costly mismatch after delivery.
Connected features and riding aids
Google Maps navigation and Magic Twist are identified with the Rizta Z specifications, not automatically with every Rizta configuration. Ask which functions are activated at delivery and whether any subscription, phone pairing or paid package is required.
Bajaj’s 29 April 2026 release describes upgrades in the C Series, including Google Maps connectivity on the flagship C 35 01 and riding modes and hill-hold as built-in features there. The release does not establish that every feature is standard on every C2501, C3001, C3501, C3502 or C3503. Request a model-by-model feature sheet before paying for an upgrade.

In the announcement, Eric Vas, President of the Urbanite Business at Bajaj Auto Ltd., said: “The C Series represents an evolution of the Chetak portfolio, bringing meaningful upgrades across our range. With the flagship C 35 01, we are delivering the full extent of these advancements—combining stronger performance, more intuitive connectivity through Google Maps, and the added convenience of riding modes and hill-hold now offered as built-in features.” This describes the flagship’s positioning; it is not a promise that the same equipment appears on every C Series model.
Ask the dealer to demonstrate each connected function on the exact scooter being quoted. Check screen visibility in bright light, the time needed to pair a phone and whether navigation continues if mobile data drops. If a feature is listed in a brochure but delivered later through software, request the expected activation timing in writing.
Price: compare written on-road quotes, not starting prices
Manufacturer prices and dealer offers change by city and date. The Chetak website presents location-sensitive starting prices, and its 2026 brochure is issued for specified Indian regions with a warning that prices and features may change. A Rizta quote can likewise vary by variant, battery, charger, package, registration, insurance and local fees.
Get both quotes on the same day for the same city and record:
- Named variant and battery capacity
- Ex-showroom price
- Registration, road tax and insurance
- Charger, installation and accessory charges
- Any software, connectivity or extended-warranty package
- Delivery, handling or other dealer fees
- Offer expiry and cancellation terms
Only then compare the final on-road totals. A lower advertised starting price can represent a lower-spec scooter, a different battery or a price that excludes local costs.
Build a simple ownership budget
Keep the purchase comparison separate from the running-cost estimate. Write down the on-road payment, charging equipment, insurance renewal, scheduled service, tyres and any accessories you actually need. Do not use a brand savings calculator as an independent ownership-cost result. Electricity tariffs, annual distance and service requirements differ by household and city, so calculate them from your own usage and retain the assumptions.
If a dealer offers finance, compare the total repayment and all fees rather than only the monthly instalment. Ask whether an advertised offer applies to every battery and variant, and note its expiry date. The same discipline applies to exchange bonuses, accessories and extended warranties: list the cash value and conditions on the quotation.

Warranty: verify the document that applies to your scooter
Ather’s displayed Rizta configurations list a standard vehicle and battery warranty of 3 years or 30,000 km and also refer to longer-warranty availability. The applicable term can depend on the variant, battery, package, purchase date and offer. Bajaj warranty terms can likewise vary by model and offer.

Before treating warranty as a deciding advantage, ask for the written policy covering the vehicle, battery, charger and exclusions. Check whether the distance limit is cumulative, what maintenance is required, how claim approval works and whether an extended plan changes battery coverage. Keep the invoice, delivery inspection and service records.
Ask specifically what happens if a battery fault appears after a software update, if the charger is damaged, or if the scooter is serviced outside the selling outlet. The answer should come from the applicable warranty document, not a verbal summary. Verify the warranty start date as well; it may be tied to invoicing or delivery under the brand’s policy.
Service, dealer reach and daily ownership
Local support may outweigh a small specification difference. Visit or call the nearest authorised outlet for each brand and ask about booking lead time, diagnostic equipment, battery repairs, software updates, roadside assistance and parts availability. Search the route you would take if the scooter stopped at work, not only the brand’s advertised network size.

Ask how a service appointment is booked, whether pickup and drop is offered and where major battery work is performed. Confirm the nearest authorised centre to your home rather than relying on a showroom in another city. A scooter that is attractive on paper can be inconvenient if routine support requires a long trip.

Choose a Rizta configuration when
- You want an explicitly family-oriented scooter and value the listed pillion-backrest option.
- The Rizta’s 4.3 kW, 22 Nm and 80 km/h specification matches your routes.
- You prefer the Z’s listed Google Maps and Magic Twist features and accept the price of that variant.
- The battery and charger combination gives enough overnight charging time for your schedule.
- You can obtain a written quote that includes the battery, charger, equipment and warranty you expect.
Choose a Chetak C Series configuration when
- You want to select among several speed and battery levels rather than one Rizta specification.
- A 60 or 70 km/h model is sufficient for your mainly urban routes, or an 80 km/h model better fits your roads.
- The exact C Series model offers the storage, riding aids and connectivity you need at a lower written on-road total.
- Your local Chetak dealer provides more convenient service and parts access.
- You want to select a model after comparing the C2501, C3001, C3501, C3502 and C3503 feature sheets side by side.
Reconsider the purchase or change the variant when
- Your parking area has no safe, reliable charging point.
- The quoted charging time does not fit your daily return-to-home window.
- The required battery, charger or feature package pushes the on-road price beyond your budget.
- The dealer cannot state the warranty, included equipment or delivery specification in writing.
- The scooter cannot accommodate your normal helmet, passenger or storage needs during the showroom check.
Do not confuse the C25 with the C Series
Bajaj’s separate C25 entry model was launched on 14 January 2026 at ₹91,399 ex-showroom Bengaluru. Its stated equipment includes a 2.5 kWh battery, up to 113 km range, a 55 km/h top speed and a 25-litre boot. Those figures apply to the C25 and should not be transferred to the C2501, C3001, C3501, C3502 or C3503 C Series models.
If a listing or salesperson uses “Chetak” without the complete model code, ask for clarification. The C25’s 55 km/h top speed and 25-litre boot are useful facts for that separate entry model, but they cannot be used to fill gaps in a C Series comparison.

- Write down the exact Rizta or Chetak variant, battery and colour.
- Request same-day on-road quotations from the same city.
- Match the included charger and installation terms to your parking space.
- Compare claimed range only after labeling each figure IDC or manufacturer claimed.
- Read the vehicle, battery and charger warranty before making a booking payment.
- Test the exact scooter with your normal helmet and passenger.
- Confirm service location, roadside support and expected delivery date.
- Save the brochure, quotation, warranty document and promised delivery specification.
Questions to ask before booking
Ask the salesperson to answer these questions on the quotation or email: Which exact battery capacity is fitted? What charger and cable are included? Is installation included, and where will it be done? Which connected features work on delivery? What is the vehicle, battery and charger warranty term and kilometre limit? Which fees are refundable if you cancel? Where is the nearest authorised service centre? Written answers make it easier to compare two brands without relying on memory or a changing web page.

Those features are identified with the Rizta Z specifications. Do not assume they are standard on every S or Z configuration; ask for the feature list and any package or activation requirement for the exact quote.
Does every Chetak C Series model have hill-hold and Google Maps?

What warranty does the Rizta have?
