The Apex is clearly quicker, but the 450S can offer a longer claimed IDC range in its larger-battery configuration and costs substantially less at the listed prices.
The important detail is that “450S” is not one fixed battery specification. A fair decision must compare the exact 450S configuration you intend to buy, your city’s current quotation and the riding range you actually need.

Ather 450 Apex vs 450S: the short answer
Ather’s published figures put the 450 Apex ahead on every headline performance metric: 7.0 kW peak power, 26 Nm torque, 100 km/h top speed and 2.9 seconds for 0–40 km/h. The 450S is rated at 5.4 kW, 22 Nm, 90 km/h and 3.9 seconds for the same sprint. Ather states that the Apex reaches 100 km/h only when Warp+ mode is selected.
The 450S counters with a lower starting price and two battery choices in the current configurator. Its 2.9 kWh version is listed at 122 km IDC range, while the 3.7 kWh option is listed at 161 km. The current Apex page lists 165 km IDC range. Those are prescribed-test figures, not guaranteed distances in daily traffic.

For most urban commuters, the 450S is the rational value choice if its speed is sufficient. For riders who regularly use faster roads, carry a passenger, or simply want the quickest 450-series scooter, the Apex justifies its premium through performance and equipment rather than through a dramatic range advantage.

Power and torque
The Apex has a 1.6 kW advantage in peak power and 4 Nm more torque than the 450S. That difference is most noticeable when pulling away from traffic lights, climbing with a passenger and accelerating after slowing for a turn. Peak output is not a complete description of how a scooter feels, but it explains why the Apex has the shorter published sprint time.
Acceleration
Ather quotes 0–40 km/h in 2.9 seconds for the Apex and 3.9 seconds for the 450S. A one-second difference over this short urban run is substantial: the Apex reaches normal city speed sooner and leaves more reserve for merging. These are manufacturer figures, so tyre condition, rider weight, battery state and road surface will affect an individual result.
Top speed and Warp+
The 450S is listed at 90 km/h. The Apex is listed at 100 km/h, but Ather’s official FAQ makes the condition explicit: “Yes, you’ll reach the top speed of 100 km/h in Warp+ mode only.” In other modes, the scooter will not provide that full top-speed target. If you rarely travel above 80–90 km/h, the Apex’s extra headline speed may have little practical value; if you use open roads, the additional reserve is more relevant.
Do not treat the 100 km/h number as an everyday cruising recommendation. It is a maximum specification tied to a particular mode, and traffic, road design and local speed limits still determine a safe legal speed.

Range and battery choices: compare the exact 450S variant
450S 2.9 kWh
The current 450 configurator lists a 2.9 kWh 450S with 122 km IDC range. This is the lower-cost, lower-capacity configuration. It can suit a rider whose daily route is short and who can charge regularly, but it leaves less buffer for detours, heavy traffic, high speeds or weather-related efficiency changes.
450S 3.7 kWh
The same configurator lists a 3.7 kWh 450S with 161 km IDC range. This is the version that makes the 450S a range-focused alternative to the Apex. Confirm that the 3.7 kWh battery is selected on the order form: the model name alone does not identify the battery.
Apex range
Ather’s current Apex product page lists 165 km IDC range, only 4 km above the configurator’s 3.7 kWh 450S claim. That small difference means range should not be the sole reason to buy the Apex. The Apex’s stronger case is its performance and TFT touchscreen equipment.
Why published capacity figures differ
Ather’s current comparison table shows 2.9 kWh / 3.5 kWh for the 450S and 3.5 kWh for the Apex, while the current configurator uses 3.7 kWh for the larger 450S option. Older Apex specification PDFs list 3.7 kWh and 157 km, rather than the current page’s 3.5 kWh and 165 km. These are different publication versions, not figures that should be silently combined. For a new purchase, rely on the live selector and the written specification attached to your city quote.

IDC is a comparison baseline, not a daily promise
IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range is measured under prescribed test conditions. Ather cautions that actual results vary. Speed, stop-and-go traffic, payload, tyre pressure, gradients, temperature, riding mode and use of connected functions can all change consumption. Treat 122, 161 and 165 km as comparable laboratory-style reference points. Plan charging around your own route and keep a reserve instead of assuming the scooter will deliver the full IDC number every day.
No independent comparative road test or independently measured real-world range figure was established for these two scooters. That means the manufacturer’s numbers are useful for specification comparison, but they cannot establish a guaranteed gap in practical kilometres.

Displays, software and standard equipment
Screen hardware
Ather lists a 7-inch DeepView display for the 450S and a 7-inch TFT touchscreen for the Apex. Both are seven-inch units, but the panel and interface description differ. The Apex’s touchscreen presentation is part of what separates it from the more value-oriented 450S.
Warp+ and AtherStack Pro
Warp+ is the Apex riding mode associated with its 100 km/h top-speed claim. The Apex product page also says AtherStack Pro is included. Confirm the exact software package, connected-services terms and any activation conditions in the current purchase documentation, because software features can change by model year or market.
Navigation caveat on the 450S
Ather’s 450 Series FAQ describes turn-by-turn navigation, but says it does not support live-traffic navigation. Do not assume that a navigation icon means Google-style live congestion routing. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the current interface on the exact 450S variant and software version before treating navigation as a deciding feature. Price, subsidy and the cost decision
Current listed 450S price
Ather’s current model lineup displays a starting price of ₹135,999 for the 450S. “Starting” means the figure may correspond to a particular battery or configuration and does not represent an on-road total. Registration, insurance, taxes, handling, accessories and local charges can change the amount you pay.
Apex price reference
An Ather article dated 28 August 2026 reports the Apex at ₹1.94 lakh ex-showroom Bengaluru. This is a city-specific ex-showroom figure reported on that date, not a universal India price and not an on-road quotation. The Apex product page did not expose a live price in the cited result, so request a fresh city-wise breakup before comparing it with the 450S.
Older 450S launch pricing
Ather’s 31 July 2025 announcement gave the 450S 3.7 kWh launch price as ₹145,999 ex-showroom Bengaluru. That is historical launch pricing and should not be substituted for today’s quote. It remains useful only for explaining why an older article may show a different number.
PM E-DRIVE eligibility
Ather’s Apex FAQ says the Apex ex-factory price does not qualify under PM E-DRIVE guidelines. This statement applies to the Apex and should not be generalized to the 450S or to every state incentive. Subsidy rules, eligibility thresholds and local programmes can change. Verify the current central and state rules with the dealer or the relevant government portal, and ask for the price both before and after any incentive.

Use the current Ather electric scooter lineup and the city-specific configurator to obtain an apples-to-apples quotation. Compare ex-showroom with ex-showroom and on-road with on-road; mixing them can make the Apex premium look larger or smaller than it really is.
Warranty and ownership checks
Both scooters are listed with a standard vehicle warranty of three years or 30,000 km, whichever comes first. The standard battery warranty is also three years or 30,000 km, whichever comes first. A longer warranty package, if offered, should be treated as a separately priced product and checked for its exclusions, transfer rules and required maintenance.

Before booking, ask the retailer to put these items in writing:
- The exact battery capacity and IDC range attached to the vehicle identification or order.
- The ex-showroom, registration, insurance and all other on-road line items.
- Which software and connected features are included without a subscription.
- Warranty start date, kilometre limit and exclusions for the scooter and battery.
- Service location, roadside assistance terms and the process for a battery or display fault.
- Any current subsidy assumption and what happens if the incentive is rejected.
Which scooter fits your use?
Pick the 450 Apex when performance is the priority
- You want the quickest 450-series acceleration and will notice a 2.9-second 0–40 km/h claim compared with 3.9 seconds.
- You use roads where a 90 km/h ceiling feels restrictive and value the Apex’s 100 km/h Warp+ capability.
- You prefer the listed TFT touchscreen and want AtherStack Pro included as standard on the Apex page.
- You are comfortable paying a substantially higher ex-showroom price for performance and equipment.
Pick the 450S 2.9 kWh for a compact urban routine
- Your daily travel is short enough that the 122 km IDC claim provides a comfortable reserve after allowing for real-world variation.
- You want the lowest listed entry price in the 450 comparison.
- A 90 km/h top speed and 3.9-second 0–40 km/h time meet your normal roads and traffic conditions.
- You can charge consistently and do not need the larger battery’s extra buffer.
Pick the 450S 3.7 kWh for range per rupee
- You want the 161 km IDC claim shown by the current configurator without paying Apex money.
- Your route includes frequent detours, longer commutes or limited charging opportunities.
- You are happy with 450S performance and the DeepView display.
- You have confirmed that the 3.7 kWh option, rather than the 2.9 kWh version, appears on your final order.
How to make the decision before ordering
- Measure your route. Record your usual round-trip distance, the longest weekly trip and where charging is available. Add a reserve for traffic and detours rather than planning to use the full IDC number.
- Select the 450S battery if you are considering that model. Open the 450 configurator and note whether the quote says 2.9 kWh/122 km or 3.7 kWh/161 km.
- Choose the riding performance you actually need. If your roads rarely exceed 80 km/h, the Apex’s extra top speed may be a luxury. If you merge onto faster roads often, its acceleration and Warp+ ceiling have practical value.
- Request a city-specific price sheet. Make the dealer separate ex-showroom, insurance, registration, accessories, financing and any incentive. Use the same terms for both scooters.
- Test the interface. Check screen readability, route instructions and mode controls on the exact vehicle. Ask specifically whether navigation has live traffic and whether connected features require activation or a paid plan.
- Read the warranty wording. Confirm the three-year/30,000-km limits, whichever-comes-first condition, battery coverage and the service process before signing.
- Recheck the final order. The model, battery, colour, software package, price date and delivery specification should all match the written quotation.
Common buying mistakes
Comparing model names instead of batteries
Calling both versions “the 450S” hides the most important range distinction. A 2.9 kWh/122 km configuration and a 3.7 kWh/161 km configuration can serve very different commuters. Keep the capacity and IDC number beside the price whenever you compare offers.
Using an old PDF as today’s specification
Older Apex documents show 3.7 kWh and 157 km, while the current Apex page shows 3.5 kWh and 165 km. An old article can therefore appear to contradict the current website. Date-stamp every quotation and use the live product selector for a new order.
Treating IDC as guaranteed distance
IDC is a controlled comparison method. A fast commute, two-up riding and repeated high-speed acceleration can reduce the distance available between charges. Build your decision around the longest route you actually ride, not the most optimistic number in a brochure.

Comparing an ex-showroom figure with an on-road figure
The ₹135,999 450S starting price and the ₹1.94 lakh Apex reference are not equivalent quote types. One is a starting figure and the other is a Bengaluru ex-showroom report dated 28 August 2026. Ask for both scooters’ current on-road totals in your city.

Assuming every incentive applies to both models
The Apex FAQ specifically says its ex-factory price does not qualify under PM E-DRIVE guidelines. Eligibility for the 450S and for state incentives requires a separate, current check.

Not compared with the larger-battery 450S on the current figures: the Apex page lists 165 km and the 3.7 kWh 450S configurator lists 161 km. The Apex’s decisive advantages are power, acceleration, top speed and its listed equipment.
Are the Apex and 450S prices directly comparable?
Only after you obtain matching, current city quotations. The 450S page shows a ₹135,999 starting price, while the cited Apex figure is ₹1.94 lakh ex-showroom Bengaluru from 28 August 2026. Neither number is a universal on-road price.
What warranty is listed for both scooters?
