What TuxMat floor mats are designed to do
TuxMat is a custom-fit floor-mat system built for a particular vehicle configuration. Instead of stopping near the edges of the factory carpet, the mat rises toward the door sills, center tunnel, and vertical footwell surfaces. Those raised walls are intended to catch water, mud, coffee, winter salt, and debris before they reach the carpet or lower trim.

TuxMat claims up to 2.5 times more carpet coverage than OEM floor mats. “Up to” matters: it is a maximum claim, not a measurement every vehicle receives. Coverage depends on the vehicle design and the specific set selected.
The stated construction is a textured, water-resistant PVC-vinyl top layer over an EVA-foam middle layer. The foam supports the taller sidewalls while the textured surface gives shoes traction. Water-resistant means liquid should remain on the surface rather than soak through under normal use; it is not a promise that the mat is sealed for submersion.

How much TuxMat costs
Official 2026 listings show that pricing changes with the vehicle and the coverage package. A representative Hyundai Tucson floor set is listed at $149.50. A complete floor-and-trunk protection package is shown at $229.80. These are examples rather than universal prices; stock, model year, configuration, and package contents can change the total, so check the listing immediately before ordering.

The premium reflects vehicle-specific development. TuxMat says it performs precision 3D laser scans, creates a digital mold, prototypes the design in real vehicles, and uses the factory retention system rather than asking the buyer to trim the mat. That engineering is different from buying a universal mat, but it also means one product cannot automatically serve every version of a model.
Where the extra coverage helps
Door-side and vertical carpet protection
Flat mats leave a strip of carpet beside the accelerator, along the door opening, and above the mat’s front edge. TuxMat’s raised perimeter is shaped to reach those areas. This is particularly useful when wet shoes push water sideways or when loose grit is kicked against the lower side panels.

The system is molded around the center tunnel and rear footwell contours instead of treating the cabin as a flat rectangle. A correct set can therefore protect carpet that a simple front-and-rear mat bundle leaves exposed.

Trunk and cargo configurations
Some listings offer a separate trunk piece or a complete floor-and-trunk package. Cargo-area fit is not interchangeable: the presence of a subwoofer or a different trunk floor can change the correct shape. Select the trunk option only after confirming that equipment layout.
Are TuxMats waterproof enough for winter?
For rain, snow, and routine slush, the raised walls are intended to keep liquid on the mat instead of letting it run onto the carpet. The material description supports calling the mats water-resistant. It does not establish unlimited waterproofing, leakproof performance during submersion, or protection if liquid pools against an uncovered seam or edge.
Winter salt creates a second issue: even when the carpet stays dry, salty brine can remain under a liner. Remove the mat periodically, rinse or wipe both the mat and the carpet beneath it, and let both dry before reinstalling. This prevents trapped moisture and residue from sitting against the floor for weeks.
How to clean TuxMat floor mats

- Remove the mat using the vehicle’s retention points. Keep the mat level as you carry it so collected water and grit do not spill into the cabin.
- Shake out or vacuum loose debris. Remove sand, stones, hair, and dried salt before adding water; this avoids turning grit into abrasive paste.
- Wipe with a damp cloth or rinse with water. A hose or shower rinse is appropriate for ordinary mud and slush, provided you can dry the mat afterward.
- Use mild soap only for stubborn film. Work it with a soft cloth or sponge, then rinse until no residue remains.
- Dry completely before refitting. Stand the mat so water drains from the raised channels, and wipe the carpet underneath if it is damp.
- Reinstall and check retention. Confirm that clips or hooks are engaged and that the mat cannot interfere with the pedals or seat tracks.
Abrasive powders, stiff brushes, solvents, and harsh chemical cleaners are poor choices. TuxMat’s own guidance identifies harsh or abrasive cleaning materials as warranty exclusions. No cleaner is guaranteed to remove every dye, oil, or deeply set stain instantly, so test any mild product on an inconspicuous area first.
Fitment is the most important buying step
A vehicle’s model name alone is not enough. Before paying, match all of the following:
- Model year and body style.
- Trim level and drivetrain.
- Gasoline, plug-in, or hybrid status.
- Center-console shape and seat layout.
- Factory carpet or retention hardware.
- For trunk pieces, subwoofer location and adjustable-floor configuration.
The Hyundai Tucson listing, for example, notes that some hybrid configurations do not fit that particular set and that trunk versions vary with subwoofer equipment. Treat those notes as product-specific rather than assuming every Tucson uses the same mold.

- Take out the factory mats and clear coins, stones, and other objects from the carpet.
- Place the new mat in the footwell, aligning its molded edges with the door sill, center tunnel, and seat rails.
- Engage the vehicle’s original retention clips or hooks. Do not force a fastener that does not line up; a mismatch usually indicates the wrong configuration or an edge that is not seated.
- Press the raised perimeter into its contours and check that no section is folded underneath.
- Move the seat through its full travel and operate the pedals while parked. The mat must not rub the accelerator, brake, clutch, or seat mechanism.
- Install rear and cargo pieces only after the front pieces are secure, then repeat the movement and interference checks.
Do not cut a wall to make an almost-fitting product work. Trimming can expose carpet, remove a retention point, and undermine the fit guarantee.

For a lightly used car in a mild climate, a lower-cost liner may contain ordinary spills adequately.
