What happened in the crash?
The crash occurred at about 11 a.m. on December 29, 2025, in Makun, Ogun State, on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Police said the Lexus SUV carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck. Two passengers died at the scene; Joshua was injured and received medical care. Police details reported by Punch and the state and FRSC account reported by Channels Television identify the two people killed as Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.
Who was driving, and what charges were filed?
Police identified the driver as Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46. He was charged at Sagamu Magistrate Court on January 2, 2026. Channels Television reported four counts: dangerous driving causing death; reckless and negligent driving; driving without due care and attention, causing bodily harm and property damage; and driving without a valid national driver’s licence. The January 2 report describes the counts; AP’s report also identifies Kayode and the court proceedings.
These are accusations filed by prosecutors, not proof that Kayode committed the offences. The reporting located does not establish a conviction or a later custody status. AP reported that the court granted bail of ₦5 million with two sureties; initial reports said Kayode was remanded pending fulfilment of the bail conditions.

What did investigators say about the cause?
The FRSC’s preliminary account attributed the crash to excessive speed and wrongful overtaking. It said the vehicle lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre before striking the stationary truck. The agency’s account, carried by Premium Times, is a preliminary explanation—not a court determination of fault or guilt.
That distinction matters: the Ogun State Police Command initially said the circumstances were under investigation, while the FRSC later gave its preliminary account and prosecutors filed charges. These are different stages and sources, not a final judicial finding.

What is the latest reported court status?
At a January 20, 2026 hearing, prosecutors asked for an adjournment to send the case file for legal advice. The court moved the trial to February 25, according to Channels Television’s court report. The available reporting does not establish whether the February hearing took place or what followed, so no later outcome can be stated here.
