The confirmed U.S. 2026 model-year Jeep recalls in this review affect six Jeep nameplates, while no federal campaign was located for the 2026 Compass. The affected models and campaigns include trailer-tow-module problems, Grand Cherokee 4xe propulsion and battery risks, restraint-system software, child-seat tether welds, steel wheels, brake-control software, and a Wagoneer S hinge cover.
This is a model-level guide, not a substitute for a vehicle-specific result. Enter your 17-character VIN into NHTSA’s recall lookup and confirm the result with Jeep or Mopar. The research cutoff for this list is August 11, 2026.
For the U.S. 2026 model year, confirmed recall coverage has been identified for the Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer L, and Wagoneer S. No federal campaign was located for the 2026 Jeep Compass in the sources reviewed. That does not prove that any individual vehicle is unaffected: a 17-character VIN search is the only reliable way to determine whether a specific Jeep has an open safety recall.
This guide covers U.S. safety recalls affecting 2026 model-year Jeep vehicles, based on records available through August 11, 2026. It does not mean every recall announced during calendar year 2026, and it does not include recalls for older vehicles merely because they involve the same Jeep nameplate.

Campaign totals are not the same as the number of affected vehicles. Some campaigns cover multiple model years or multiple Jeep models, and a single vehicle can be included in more than one campaign.
2026 Jeep Cherokee recalls
NHTSA 26V059 / FCA 03D: trailer lighting and trailer-brake failure
Certain 2026 Jeep Cherokee vehicles are included in a multi-model recall involving an improperly designed trailer-tow module. The same campaign also covers certain 2024–2026 Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles and several Ram models.
If the problem occurs, the trailer’s brake lights, turn signals, and integrated trailer-brake controller may fail to operate. That can reduce the trailer’s visibility to other drivers and may eliminate trailer braking assistance, increasing the risk of a crash while towing. The NHTSA 26V059 recall filing lists 456,287 potentially affected vehicles across all makes and models in the campaign; that is not the number of affected 2026 Cherokees.

The remedy is a repair through the manufacturer or an authorized dealer at no charge, subject to VIN eligibility and remedy availability. If you tow with a 2026 Cherokee, do not assume that the trailer system is safe simply because the lights worked during a previous trip. Check the VIN and ask the dealer for the current recall remedy and any specific towing instructions.
2026 Jeep Compass recalls
No federal safety-recall campaign for the 2026 Jeep Compass was located in the researched sources as of August 11, 2026. That is a statement about the available model-level research, not a guarantee that every 2026 Compass is recall-free.
NHTSA distinguishes between general year/make/model results and a VIN or license-plate search for a particular vehicle. A Compass owner should therefore run the vehicle’s VIN through NHTSA and the Jeep/Mopar recall system even when no Compass campaign appears in a model index.
2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee recalls
The Grand Cherokee has the most extensive confirmed 2026 model-year coverage in this review. Two campaigns apply specifically to plug-in-hybrid Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles, while the third involves occupant-restraint-controller software on certain Grand Cherokee vehicles.

NHTSA 25V576 / FCA 73C: possible loss of drive power in 4xe models
Certain 2022–2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrids, including affected 2026 model-year Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles, may lose drive power because of a software error in the hybrid-control processor. Unexpected loss of propulsion can increase crash risk.
The NHTSA 25V576 filing reported 91,787 potentially involved vehicles across the campaign. It stated that the remedy was under development when the recall was filed. That filing status should not be treated as the current status of every VIN in August 2026; check the vehicle-specific NHTSA or Jeep/Mopar record and ask the dealer whether the repair is available.
NHTSA 25V741 / FCA 68C: high-voltage battery fire risk in 4xe models
Certain 2022–2026 Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrids may contain high-voltage battery cells with separator damage. The condition can lead to a vehicle fire while the Jeep is parked or being driven.
NHTSA’s 25V741 recall report covers 91,844 Grand Cherokee PHEVs. It also says the campaign included vehicles previously addressed under an earlier battery recall because that earlier remedy was considered ineffective for certain abnormalities.

Follow the instructions in the notice tied to your VIN, and contact Jeep or an authorized dealer if you are unsure whether the battery campaign applies.
NHTSA 26V328 / FCA 01D: occupant-restraint-controller software
Certain 2022–2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles may have occupant-restraint-controller software that allows transient door-airbag pressure-sensor faults to remain active. Depending on the fault, the condition could affect side-airbag deployment behavior during a crash.
The campaign also includes certain 2023–2025 Grand Cherokee L vehicles. The model-year distinction matters: the supplied filing summary identifies 2022–2026 Grand Cherokee coverage, but the Grand Cherokee L portion is identified as 2023–2025, not 2026. The filing lists 140,130 potentially affected Grand Cherokee vehicles and 278,905 Grand Cherokee L vehicles across the combined campaign. The NHTSA 26V328 report is the appropriate reference for the campaign’s stated scope.
2026 Jeep Wrangler recalls
NHTSA 26V224 / FCA 27D: insufficient child-seat-tether welds
Certain 2026 Jeep Wrangler vehicles may have insufficient welds around the child-seat tether area on the second-row, right-side seat frame. The defect may reduce the seat’s ability to restrain a child properly in a crash and represents noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 225.

- DISPLAY READY: Vibrant exterior finish with contrasting black trim design captures the essence of the real Jeep Wrangler
The campaign identifies only 32 potentially affected vehicles. The remedy is replacement of the second-row, right-side seat frame at no charge through an authorized dealer. Because the affected area is part of the child-restraint anchorage system, owners should not attempt to reinforce, weld, or replace the component themselves. Confirm the VIN and arrange the specified dealer repair.
NHTSA 26V456 / FCA 05D: steel-wheel cracking or detachment
Certain 2026 Jeep Wrangler vehicles equipped with the relevant steel wheels may have wheel walls that are too thin. A wheel may crack or detach, potentially causing loss of vehicle control and increasing crash risk. The same recall covers certain 2026 Jeep Gladiator vehicles.
The campaign identifies 641 potentially affected vehicles across the included Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles. Dealers are instructed to inspect the steel wheels and replace the wheels and valve stems when necessary, without charge. The available 26V456 recall notice copy scheduled owner-notification letters for September 4, 2026. A scheduled mailing date is not proof that an owner has received a letter or that a particular VIN is included, so use the VIN lookup rather than waiting for mail.
2026 Jeep Gladiator recalls
NHTSA 26V456 / FCA 05D: possible steel-wheel cracking or detachment
The 2026 Gladiator shares the confirmed 26V456 campaign with the 2026 Wrangler. The potential defect is insufficient steel-wheel-wall thickness, which may allow a wheel to crack or detach and cause loss of control.

The prescribed remedy is dealer inspection and, if needed, replacement of the affected steel wheels and valve stems at no cost. This campaign should not be confused with NHTSA 26V363, a separate fire-risk recall involving 2021–2025 Jeep Wrangler and 2021–2025 Gladiator vehicles. The June 2026 26V363 campaign does not cover 2026 model-year Wranglers or Gladiators. The NHTSA 26V363 report shows the older model-year scope.
2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L recalls
NHTSA 26V414: loss of electronic stability control and brake assist
Certain 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L vehicles may have brake-system-control-module software that causes the vehicle to lose electronic stability control and electronic brake assist. Losing either function can increase crash risk, particularly during braking or a loss-of-control event.
The campaign identifies 11,980 potentially affected vehicles and cites noncompliance with FMVSS 126, covering electronic stability control, and FMVSS 135, covering light-vehicle brake systems. A copy of the 26V414 recall notice provides the reported campaign details. The supplied research confirms this campaign directly, but does not establish a definitive final count for every Grand Wagoneer variant.
One secondary NHTSA-derived index reports two 2026 Grand Wagoneer campaigns. Because the official vehicle-page details were not fully available in the research record, it is more accurate to say at least one campaign is confirmed than to present two as a definitive total for every Grand Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L. Check the VIN before buying, selling, or scheduling service. The secondary index can be viewed for comparison at this 2026 Grand Wagoneer recall index.

2026 Jeep Wagoneer S recalls
NHTSA 26V059 / FCA 03D: trailer-light and trailer-brake failure
Certain 2024–2026 Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles are included in the trailer-tow-module campaign described above. Trailer lights may fail to illuminate, and the integrated trailer-brake function may fail. For a vehicle being used to tow, that can reduce the trailer’s visibility and braking performance.
Although the Wagoneer S is a different model from the Cherokee, both are included in NHTSA 26V059. Do not assume that a repair performed for one recall campaign addresses every open recall on the vehicle; ask the dealer to check the complete VIN record.
NHTSA 26V141 / FCA 26D: rear hinge cover may detach
Certain 2024–2026 Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles may have a rear hinge cover with insufficient design tolerances. The cover may not clip securely into position and could detach from the vehicle, creating a road hazard for other motorists.
The NHTSA 26V141 report identifies 11,767 potentially involved vehicles and an estimated defect rate of 6.7%. Confirm the remedy and parts status for the individual VIN rather than assuming that every 2024–2026 Wagoneer S requires the repair.
Recalls that do not apply to 2026 model-year Jeeps
Calendar-year recall reporting can create misleading lists because a campaign filed in 2026 may cover earlier model years but not the current model year.
- NHTSA 26V363: the fire-risk campaign covers 2021–2025 Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles, not 2026 model-year vehicles.
- NHTSA 26V262: the inoperative instrument-panel-cluster campaign covers 2024–2025 Wagoneer S vehicles, not 2026 Wagoneer S vehicles. See the NHTSA 26V262 report.
These campaigns may still matter to someone who owns an older Jeep or is shopping for a used vehicle, but they should not be counted as 2026 model-year recalls.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to check whether your 2026 Jeep is affected
- Find the 17-character VIN. Use the VIN associated with the exact vehicle, not a VIN from a listing photo, another Jeep, or a similar trim.
- Search NHTSA’s recall database. The agency explains that model searches provide general information, while a VIN or license-plate search identifies recalls associated with a particular vehicle. Start with the NHTSA recall lookup.
- Check Jeep or Mopar’s recall system as well. Manufacturer systems can provide dealer-facing remedy and parts information. Compare the campaign number, not just the general description.
- Call an authorized Jeep dealer. Give the service department the VIN and each campaign number shown. Ask whether the repair is available, whether parts must be ordered, and whether the vehicle has already been marked repaired.
- Have the recall repair completed. NHTSA states that open safety-recall repairs are generally performed at no charge. The dealer, rather than the owner, should perform safety repairs involving restraint systems, high-voltage batteries, brake-control software, trailer modules, or wheels.
If a search shows no open recall, that means no matching unrepaired campaign was returned for that search at that time. It does not make the model-level table a substitute for the VIN result, and recall records can be amended or expanded after publication.
How to interpret the campaign numbers
A number such as 26V059 is an NHTSA campaign identifier. The first two digits generally indicate the year in which the campaign was filed, while the letter and remaining digits identify the campaign. It is not a 2026 model-year code. That is why a 2025-filed campaign such as 25V576 can cover 2026 Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles, and why a 2026-filed campaign such as 26V363 can cover only 2021–2025 vehicles.

Recall versus service bulletin or complaint
A safety recall is not the same thing as a technical service bulletin, customer complaint, investigation, or general manufacturer communication. A bulletin may describe a known service procedure without creating a federally reported safety recall, while a complaint or investigation does not necessarily mean that a recall has been issued.
Use the category shown in the NHTSA search result and do not describe a bulletin, investigation, or complaint as a recall. NHTSA’s recall search system distinguishes among these record types.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the 2026 Jeep Compass have a recall?
No federal recall campaign for the 2026 Jeep Compass was located in the sources reviewed through August 11, 2026. That does not guarantee that every Compass is unaffected. Check the exact 17-character VIN through NHTSA and Jeep/Mopar because VIN results are more specific than model-level lists.
How many recalls does the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee have?
The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee recalls include three campaigns in this review. NHTSA 25V576 concerns possible loss of drive power in certain Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrids. NHTSA 25V741 concerns a high-voltage battery fire risk in certain 4xe vehicles. NHTSA 26V328 concerns occupant-restraint-controller software in certain Grand Cherokee vehicles. A VIN search is required to determine which, if any, applies.
Does the Grand Cherokee 4xe battery recall affect every 2026 Grand Cherokee?
No. NHTSA 25V741 applies to certain Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrids, including affected 2026 Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles. It is not a general recall for every gasoline-powered Grand Cherokee. Check the VIN and powertrain-specific recall notice.
What recalls affect the 2026 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator?
The 2026 Wrangler and 2026 Gladiator are included in NHTSA 26V456, involving potentially undersized steel-wheel walls that may allow a wheel to crack or detach. The 2026 Wrangler also has NHTSA 26V224, involving insufficient welds at a second-row child-seat tether location. The 2026 Gladiator is not included in the Wrangler-only tether campaign described here.
Do all Jeep recalls announced in 2026 apply to 2026 model-year Jeeps?
A recall announced or filed during 2026 may cover earlier model years only. For example, NHTSA 26V363 covers 2021–2025 Wranglers and Gladiators, not 2026 vehicles, while NHTSA 26V262 covers 2024–2025 Wagoneer S vehicles, not 2026 Wagoneer S vehicles. Model year and filing year must both be checked.

The reliable answer for any 2026 Jeep is its VIN, not this model index. Confirm the VIN with NHTSA and Jeep/Mopar, then have an authorized dealer complete any open safety recall at no charge. Pay particular attention to the NHTSA instructions for unrepaired Grand Cherokee 4xe battery recalls: park outside, away from structures and other vehicles, and do not charge until repaired.
