Several 2025-model-year Kia vehicles are included in U.S. safety-recall campaigns. The affected models in the available records are the EV9, K5, Niro, Sorento, Sportage, and K4. Some campaigns were filed before or after calendar year 2025, including a January 2026 campaign affecting certain 2025 Sorento-family vehicles and K4s.

This is a model-year guide, not a claim that every vehicle built or sold as a 2025 Kia has a recall. Production date, drivetrain, seat configuration, instrument display, accessories, factory, and the vehicle identification number (VIN) can narrow the affected population. Use the vehicle’s 17-character VIN in the official NHTSA recall lookup and Kia’s owner recall lookup to determine whether a specific recall is unrepaired.

Last checked: January 2026. Recall filings and remedy information can change, so check the VIN again before buying, selling, or driving a vehicle with a warning related to one of these campaigns.

2025 Kia recall index

The table below lists the qualifying U.S. safety-recall campaigns identified for vehicles designated model year 2025. NHTSA campaign numbers are included so you can match the entry to the official recall notice or your Kia VIN result.

#1 Best Overall
Model NHTSA campaign Kia campaign What is affected
EV9 24V-757 SC326 One 2025 EV9 built August 6, 2024, in the broader charging-control-unit campaign
EV9 25V-115 SC337 Certain 2025 dual-motor e-AWD EV9 vehicles built October 11–December 19, 2024
K5 25V-351 SC341 82,281 2025 K5 vehicles built February 20, 2024–April 23, 2025
Niro EV, Niro Hybrid, Niro Plug-in Hybrid 25V-024 SC332 Certain 2023–2025 vehicles with a manual front-passenger seat
Sorento, Sorento Hybrid, Sorento Plug-in Hybrid 25V-006 SC331 Certain 2024–2025 Sorento-family vehicles affected by an exterior-lighting software error
Sorento and K4 25V-548 SC349 One 2025 Sorento and 29 2025 K4 vehicles with possible engine connecting-rod-bolt problems
Sorento family and K4 26V-046 Not specified in the supplied records Certain 2025 vehicles whose instrument clusters may temporarily go blank
Sportage and Sportage Plug-in Hybrid 25V-874 SC362 Vehicles with a 4.2-inch instrument screen and a Genuine Kia tow-hitch harness accessory

These are eight NHTSA campaign numbers, but several campaigns cover more than one model or model year. Do not add the population figures together: the numbers include different model years, may overlap by campaign, and do not represent the number of 2025 Kias on the road.

2025 Kia EV9 recalls

NHTSA 24V-757 — Kia SC326

This campaign was filed October 10, 2024, and included one 2025 EV9 manufactured August 6, 2024. It was part of a broader EV9 recall involving the integrated charging control unit. A problem with that unit can potentially result in loss of motive power.

Because only one 2025 vehicle was identified in the reported population, this is a VIN-specific situation rather than a reason to assume that all 2025 EV9s are affected. The remedy should be confirmed through the vehicle’s NHTSA or Kia VIN result. Recall work performed by an authorized Kia dealer is generally provided at no charge.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

NHTSA 25V-115 — Kia SC337

Filed February 21, 2025, this campaign covers certain dual-motor e-AWD 2025 EV9s manufactured October 11 through December 19, 2024. NHTSA identified 342 potentially affected 2025 EV9 vehicles.

A supplier welding error may damage the rear gear-drive-unit motor shaft. Possible indications include abnormal driveline noise and a check-AWD or 4WD warning. If the condition progresses, the vehicle could experience reduced acceleration or loss of motive power, increasing crash risk.

The applicable recall notice and VIN result control the repair instructions. Owners should contact an authorized Kia dealer rather than treating a warning as an ordinary maintenance issue. If the notice gives a “do not drive” or similar instruction, follow it and arrange the specified transport or service procedure.

2025 Kia K5 recall

NHTSA 25V-351 — Kia SC341

Filed May 27, 2025, this is the broadest 2025-model-year campaign in the available records by reported population. It covers 82,281 2025 K5 vehicles produced at Kia Autoland Hwaseong from February 20, 2024, through April 23, 2025.

Incorrect software in the Power-net Domain Controller can prevent the corresponding parking lamp from illuminating steadily when the driver activates a turn signal while the headlamps or parking lamps are on. The condition is a noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108. A lamp that does not operate as required can make the K5 less conspicuous to other road users and increase crash risk.

Check the VIN-specific notice for the remedy and whether the repair remains outstanding. Do not assume that a K5 is covered solely because it is a 2025 model, and do not assume that a vehicle is repaired because a previous owner mentioned a software update.

2025 Kia Niro recalls

NHTSA 25V-024 — Kia SC332

Filed January 17, 2025, this campaign covers certain 2023–2025 Niro EV, Niro Hybrid, and Niro Plug-in Hybrid vehicles equipped with a manual front-passenger seat. The reported population across those variants and model years was 80,255 vehicles; that figure is not the number of affected 2025 Niros alone.

Seat wiring can be damaged as the manually adjusted front passenger seat is moved. The damage may disable or affect passenger-occupant detection and related restraint-system functionality. That can affect how the vehicle detects an occupant and manages the restraint system during a crash.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is not a recall of every 2025 Niro. The manual-seat condition is important, and the VIN result is the reliable way to determine coverage. The authorized Kia dealer should perform the campaign repair at no charge when the recall is open. The precise inspection, wiring repair, or replacement procedure should be confirmed in the campaign notice for the vehicle.

2025 Kia Sorento recalls

NHTSA 25V-006 — Kia SC331

Filed January 13, 2025, this recall covers certain:

  • 2024–2025 Kia Sorento vehicles;
  • 2025 Sorento Hybrid vehicles; and
  • 2025 Sorento Plug-in Hybrid vehicles.

A Body Domain Control Unit software error can, under certain circumstances, cause a momentary loss of low-beam headlamp and tail-lamp illumination while driving. The loss of exterior lighting can reduce the vehicle’s visibility to the driver and other road users, increasing crash risk.

NHTSA’s reported populations were 63,782 for the 2024–2025 Sorento, 8,937 for the 2025 Sorento Hybrid, and 1,750 for the 2025 Sorento Plug-in Hybrid. Those figures cover the listed ranges and should not be read as a count of all affected 2025 Sorento-family vehicles.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use the VIN result to confirm whether the software-related remedy is still required. The repair is generally free through an authorized Kia dealer, but the campaign notice—not a generic model-year page—determines the applicable procedure.

NHTSA 25V-548 — Kia SC349

Filed August 26, 2025, this unusually small campaign covers only 30 vehicles in total: one 2025 Sorento manufactured June 2, 2025, and 29 2025 K4 vehicles.

The affected Sorento had a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine whose connecting-rod bolts may not have been tightened correctly. The condition can cause engine damage or loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Kia’s stated remedy was replacement of the sub-engine assembly at no charge.

Do not infer that every 2025 Sorento with the same engine is included. The production date and VIN matter, especially because the same campaign also includes a separate K4 population.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

NHTSA 26V-046 — filed January 2026

A later campaign filed in January 2026 includes certain 2025–2026 Sorento, Sorento Hybrid, and Sorento Plug-in Hybrid vehicles. The instrument cluster may temporarily go blank because of excessive signal noise in the cluster’s power-management circuit.

A blank cluster can hide the speedometer, tire-pressure telltale, and other warning indicators. That creates a safety risk because the driver may not be able to see vehicle speed or important alerts. The 2025 K4 is included in the same campaign. The available records do not establish the full 2025 Sorento-family production range, so check the complete NHTSA notice and the individual VIN before drawing conclusions about a particular Sorento.

2025 Kia Sportage and Sportage Plug-in Hybrid recall

NHTSA 25V-874 — Kia SC362

Filed December 17, 2025, this campaign is configuration-specific. It covers certain:

  • 2023–2025 Sportage Plug-in Hybrid vehicles; and
  • 2024–2025 Sportage vehicles

that have both a 4.2-inch instrument-panel screen and a Genuine Kia tow-hitch harness accessory.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A software error can cause the instrument-panel screen to fail. The failure may prevent the speedometer, warning lights, or other critical information from appearing. The reported population was 5,046 vehicles.

  • Detailed repair and maintenance coverage trusted by professional technicians and DIYers for decades.
  • Clear step-by-step instructions supported by wiring diagrams, diagnostic charts, and technical illustrations.
  • Covers routine maintenance through advanced repairs, making it the go-to resource for keeping your vehicle running reliably.

This should not be described as a general recall of every 2025 Sportage or every Sportage PHEV. The screen size and Genuine Kia tow-hitch harness conditions must be present for the vehicle to fit the reported configuration. Confirm the remedy through Kia or NHTSA by VIN.

2025 Kia K4 recalls

NHTSA 25V-548 — Kia SC349: connecting-rod bolts

The K4 portion of SC349 covers 29 2025 K4 vehicles manufactured January 15 through August 1, 2025. Certain 2.0-liter MPI engines may have connecting-rod bolts that were improperly tightened.

The defect can cause engine damage or loss of drive power while driving, increasing crash risk. Kia’s remedy was replacement of the sub-engine assembly at no charge. Since the population is only 29 K4 vehicles, a 2025 K4 owner should use the VIN lookup rather than assume coverage based on engine size or build date alone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

NHTSA 26V-046: instrument cluster display

The January 2026 instrument-panel campaign also includes 14,256 2025 K4 vehicles manufactured August 4 through December 12, 2025. Excessive signal noise in the instrument cluster’s power-management circuit may cause the cluster to temporarily go blank.

The failure could hide the speedometer, tire-pressure-monitoring telltale, and other telltales. NHTSA identified the condition as a crash risk and a noncompliance with FMVSS Nos. 101 and 138, which address required information displays and tire-pressure-monitoring requirements.

Check the VIN for the current repair status and remedy. A vehicle’s lack of an active dashboard warning does not prove that this campaign does not apply, because the defect concerns the possibility of a future display failure.

2025 Kia models with no qualifying campaign established in this review

The official records reviewed for this guide did not establish a qualifying U.S. safety-recall campaign affecting the 2025-model-year Carnival, Forte, Soul, Seltos, Telluride, Sportage Hybrid, or a general population of 2025 Sportage vehicles.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is a limited statement about the campaigns verified in the reviewed records. It does not mean that every vehicle with one of these model names is free of recalls, nor does it exclude a later filing, a VIN-specific campaign, or a manufacturer communication that is not a safety recall. A VIN check remains necessary.

The Sportage qualification is especially important: the 25V-874 campaign does include certain 2025 Sportage vehicles, but only when the specified 4.2-inch screen and Genuine Kia tow-hitch harness conditions are met. The available records did not establish a qualifying campaign for 2025 Sportage Hybrid vehicles.

How to check a 2025 Kia for an unrepaired recall

  1. Find the 17-character VIN. It is commonly visible through the windshield on the driver’s side, on the vehicle paperwork, or inside the driver’s-door area.
  2. Search the VIN through NHTSA. Open the NHTSA recalls page and enter the full VIN. A model-year search is useful for finding campaigns, but only the VIN result can establish whether a particular vehicle has an unrepaired recall.
  3. Check Kia’s owner portal too. Use the Kia recall lookup to compare the result and obtain Kia-specific campaign or dealer information.
  4. Match the campaign number. Compare the result with the NHTSA number—such as 25V-351—or Kia code—such as SC341—on this page. The VIN result takes priority if a general model description appears broader or different.
  5. Contact an authorized Kia dealer. Ask whether the campaign is open, whether parts or software are available, and whether the vehicle should be driven to the dealership. Recall repairs performed by the manufacturer’s authorized dealer are generally free.
  6. Follow urgent instructions. If the notice says “do not drive,” “park outside,” or gives another safety restriction, follow that instruction. Do not continue driving simply because the vehicle starts normally or the warning has disappeared.

After the official lookup and repair instructions, an OBD-II scanner for reading diagnostic codes may help identify some stored diagnostic trouble codes while you are troubleshooting a warning light. It cannot determine official recall eligibility, prove that a recall repair was completed, or replace the Kia recall remedy. Use the VIN lookup and dealer documentation for those questions.

What the campaign numbers and population figures mean

The number before the dash is the NHTSA recall campaign identifier; the number after the dash is the year in which NHTSA recorded the campaign. For example, 25V-351 is a campaign recorded in 2025. Kia uses a separate internal campaign code, such as SC341.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A campaign’s reported population may include several model years or multiple models. For example, the Niro seat-wiring campaign covers 2023–2025 Niro variants, the Sorento lighting campaign covers multiple Sorento model years and powertrains, and the Sportage display campaign is limited by equipment. Conversely, a campaign can include an extremely small number of 2025 vehicles, as with the one EV9 in 24V-757 and the one Sorento in 25V-548.

Calendar year and model year are not interchangeable. A vehicle designated model year 2025 may have been built in 2024, and a recall involving a 2025 vehicle may be filed in 2024, 2025, or 2026. That is why this guide includes the January 2026 26V-046 filing while excluding campaigns that do not identify 2025-model-year vehicles.

What is—and is not—in this list

This guide covers U.S. safety recalls affecting vehicles designated model year 2025. It does not treat an investigation, technical service bulletin, voluntary service campaign, or a recall limited to another model year as a qualifying 2025 Kia safety recall.

A recall listing also does not tell you whether a used Kia was repaired. The same vehicle can appear in a model-year campaign list while showing no open recall because the remedy was already completed. Conversely, a vehicle that has never displayed a warning can still have an unrepaired recall. Only the current VIN result and dealer repair record can resolve that distinction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every 2025 Kia have one of these recalls?

No. Recall coverage can depend on the VIN, production date, drivetrain, seat type, instrument display, factory, or accessories. Some campaigns affect only one or a few 2025 vehicles, while others cover large mixed-model-year populations.

Why does this list include a recall filed in 2026?

The guide is organized around the 2025 model year, not only campaigns filed during calendar year 2025. NHTSA campaign 26V-046, filed in January 2026, includes certain 2025 Sorento-family vehicles and 2025 K4s.

Can a 2025 Kia be driven to the dealer for recall work?

Check the applicable VIN-specific notice first. If it says “do not drive,” “park outside,” or gives another restriction, follow that instruction and ask Kia or the dealer about the approved transport or service procedure.

Are Kia recall repairs free?

Recall remedies performed by the manufacturer’s authorized dealer are generally provided at no charge. Confirm the open campaign and remedy with an authorized Kia dealer using the vehicle’s VIN.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

The 2025 Kia models with qualifying recall campaigns identified here are the EV9, K5, Niro family, Sorento family, Sportage/Sportage PHEV in a specific display-and-tow-harness configuration, and K4. The most reliable next step is not a model search—it is a 17-character VIN search through both NHTSA and Kia, followed by an authorized-dealer repair if a campaign is open.
