A 25-year-old man was seriously injured after his car struck a building and caught fire at The Landing in Alkimos on Saturday evening, 23 July 2022, according to a PerthNow report published the following day. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, cut the car’s roof off and freed him after about 30 minutes.
Where and when the crash happened
PerthNow reporter Kate Phillips reported that the crash occurred shortly after 6:30pm at The Landing’s beer garden, near the corner of Marmion Avenue and Sanderling Street in Alkimos. The report was published on Sunday, 24 July 2022, placing the Saturday evening incident on 23 July.
How firefighters freed the driver
PerthNow said the car hit a building and burst into flames. Emergency services put out the fire before firefighters began freeing the trapped driver. The report says firefighters removed the roof at 7pm and took about 30 minutes to extract him.
What was reported about the driver
The man, identified in the report as 25, had serious injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment. The report did not provide a later update on his condition.

Police appeal and what remains unknown
The report asked witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the crash to contact police. It did not publish a case number or named police contact, or provide a later update on the investigation.
The report does not identify the car’s make or model, explain what caused the collision, say whether anyone else was injured, or establish the outcome of the investigation. It also does not provide information about the driver’s subsequent recovery or damage to the venue beyond the reported collision with the building.
