The Aion GS7 is not yet specified well enough for a genuine UK range, space or charging comparison. AION Auto UK announced on 12 October 2026 that the five-seat SUV is planned for Britain in 2027, with hybrid and plug-in hybrid power planned. The announcement does not give UK production figures for electric range, battery size, dimensions, boot capacity, charging, trims or price.
That means any article presenting a precise GS7-versus-rival score today would be guessing. You can still prepare a useful comparison by separating confirmed information from figures belonging to other models and markets, preserving each test cycle, and knowing exactly what to ask when the production specification appears.

What AION has actually confirmed about the GS7
AION describes the GS7 as a five-seat SUV and says it is intended to arrive in the UK during 2027. UK plans include both hybrid and plug-in hybrid power. Those are the material facts currently established by the company’s announcement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe announcement does not identify which powertrains will be offered first, whether a conventional hybrid and a plug-in hybrid will launch together, or whether other versions are planned. It also does not say whether the model is related mechanically to an existing vehicle sold in another country. Until a UK production specification is published, figures from another AION model or another market cannot be transferred to the GS7.

AION says it will release more information and the full specification nearer the UK arrival. The planned date is therefore not the same as a confirmed showroom launch, order bank opening or final homologation date.
What is still missing
- Official electric range for each UK powertrain and trim.
- The certification cycle used for every range claim.
- Battery capacity, and whether a quoted capacity is gross or usable.
- Exterior dimensions, wheelbase and interior measurements.
- Boot volume, including the measurement method and seat position.
- Charging connector, maximum AC input, maximum DC rate and charge-window times.
- UK trim levels, wheel sizes, equipment, prices and warranty terms.
- Confirmed production timing and availability through UK retailers.
Until those items are available, the sensible question is not “does the GS7 beat this rival?” It is “what evidence will establish whether it fits my needs when the numbers arrive?”
Why a numerical comparison would be misleading today
Three separate issues prevent a defensible test at this stage.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11The GS7 has no published comparison number
The UK announcement contains no GS7 range, luggage or charging figure. A number from the AION V, a China-market announcement or a pre-production vehicle would describe something else. Treating it as a GS7 specification would create a false impression of certainty.
Different test cycles are not interchangeable
Official range figures are meaningful only with their test cycle and market. The China-market XPENG G7 page uses CLTC. The UK AION V page uses WLTP. CLTC and WLTP follow different procedures, so a kilometre figure from one should not be presented as an equivalent real-world result from the other. Keep the cycle label beside every number.

A hybrid or PHEV is not a battery-electric SUV
A plug-in hybrid’s electric-only distance, total fuel-assisted driving range and charging behaviour answer different questions from those of a battery-electric vehicle. A conventional hybrid may have no external charging capability at all. A future GS7 comparison must identify the powertrain before comparing range or charging.
Published reference figures — and what they do not prove
The table below shows useful reference data that is currently published for other vehicles. None of the AION V figures is a GS7 specification.
Recommended Free Tools
| Vehicle and market | Published range | Battery or powertrain detail | Space information | Charging information |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AION GS7, planned UK 2027 | Not stated | Hybrid and plug-in hybrid planned; exact versions not stated | Five seats; dimensions and boot volume not stated | Connector, AC/DC rates and charge time not stated |
| XPENG G7, China market | 602 km or 702 km CLTC, depending on version | Version details and wheel-option effects appear on the China page | 2,890 mm wheelbase; 819–2,277 L boot for listed versions | 12 minutes for 10–80% DC charging claim |
| AION V, UK page | 317 miles WLTP | 75.3 kWh LFP battery | 4,605 × 1,854 × 1,686 mm; 2,775 mm wheelbase; 500 L rear boot | Type 2 AC and CCS2 DC; 11 kW maximum AC; 24 minutes for 10–80% DC |
| AION V, Australia configuration | 510 km WLTP | Market-specific configuration | 427–978 L rear trunk | 11 kW AC; 24 minutes for 10–80% DC |
The difference between the UK AION V’s stated 500-litre boot and the Australian page’s 427–978-litre range is a practical warning. Market equipment, seat positions or measurement conventions can change the published result. Do not blend the figures into a single global AION V number, and do not use either as a proxy for the GS7.
Range: the questions to ask when the GS7 specification arrives
Which powertrain is being measured?
For a conventional hybrid, ask for fuel consumption and total driving range rather than an electric-only figure. For a plug-in hybrid, request both the certified electric-only range and the test procedure used for combined consumption. If AION introduces a battery-electric version later, its range must be identified separately from PHEV results.
Which test cycle, trim and wheels?
Every range number should name the market, model year, trim, battery and wheel size. The XPENG G7 page specifically notes that optional 20-inch wheels alter some range and consumption values. A GS7 figure quoted for smaller standard wheels may not apply to a higher trim with larger wheels.

Is the battery figure gross or usable?
Two vehicles can list similar battery capacities while offering different usable energy. Ask whether AION’s figure is gross pack capacity or the energy available to the driver, and whether a reserve is excluded. Without that distinction, battery-to-range comparisons are incomplete.

- Certified range with the same test-cycle label, not a bare kilometre or mile figure.
- Cold-weather and motorway expectations supplied by the manufacturer, if available, clearly marked as estimates rather than certification.
- Energy consumption in the same units and under the same test conditions.
- Electric-only range for every PHEV trim, not the vehicle’s combined petrol-and-electric distance.
- Whether a heat pump, larger wheels or optional equipment changes the certified result.
The XPENG G7’s 602 km and 702 km figures are CLTC claims for the China market. They are useful as a reference for the type of number a rival publishes, but they are not a direct UK GS7 benchmark.
Space: how to establish whether five seats are genuinely usable
Start with exterior context, then measure the cabin
Length and wheelbase help position an SUV, but they do not guarantee rear-seat comfort. When AION publishes GS7 dimensions, record overall length, width, height and wheelbase, then look for rear legroom, headroom and shoulder room. A longer wheelbase can create more passenger space, but packaging, seat design and battery placement matter just as much.
Demand a defined boot measurement
“Boot capacity” can mean seats-up volume, seats-folded volume, a maximum measured to the roof, or a figure that includes underfloor compartments. Ask which seats are in place, where the measurement reaches and whether a frunk or underfloor section is included. The GS7 announcement gives no luggage figure, so there is nothing to rank yet.
Check the details that affect family use
- Rear-seat width with two child seats installed.
- Flat-floor or raised-floor design and the effect on a middle passenger.
- Rear door opening, seat-slide range and access to the charging cable.
- Boot opening height, loading lip and the ability to fold seats from the luggage area.
- Storage for a charging lead, parcel shelf and emergency equipment.
The UK AION V provides a useful example of complete specification reporting: 4,605 mm long, 1,854 mm wide, 1,686 mm high, with a 2,775 mm wheelbase and a stated 500-litre rear boot. Those numbers describe the AION V only. They show the level of detail needed before the GS7 can be compared responsibly.

Charging: separate the connector, power and time
Connector compatibility
Ask whether the UK GS7 uses Type 2 for AC charging and CCS2 for DC charging, or another arrangement. The AION V UK page lists Type 2 AC and CCS2 DC, but that does not establish GS7 compatibility. A plug-in hybrid may support AC charging only, while a battery-electric model may support both AC and high-power DC.
Maximum AC input
An 11 kW onboard charger, such as the figure published for the UK AION V, requires a suitable three-phase installation to reach its maximum. A domestic single-phase connection will deliver less. The GS7’s onboard AC limit is not stated, so do not assume it matches the AION V.
DC peak power and the charging window
A charging claim should identify maximum DC power, the starting and ending battery percentages, battery temperature and other conditions. “10–80% in 24 minutes” is not the same as a peak-power figure, and it does not describe the time to add a fixed number of miles. The AION V UK and Australia pages both state 24 minutes for 10–80% DC charging; the XPENG G7 China page states 12 minutes for the same window. These are market-specific manufacturer claims, not independent tests, and cannot be assigned to the GS7.
PHEV charging questions
For a GS7 plug-in hybrid, ask for the usable battery capacity, maximum AC rate, cable supplied, electric-only charge time and whether DC charging is supported. A PHEV’s smaller battery may make a short AC session practical, but its charging system should not be judged by battery-electric SUV standards unless the same capability is offered.
How to compare the GS7 with rival SUVs fairly
- Fix the market. Use UK-specification vehicles when evaluating a UK purchase. Record the country, model year and intended launch status.
- Match the powertrain. Compare hybrid with hybrid, PHEV with PHEV and battery-electric with battery-electric before discussing range or charging.
- Match the test cycle. Put WLTP figures beside WLTP figures and CLTC beside CLTC. If cycles differ, label the difference instead of ranking the numbers.
- Match the trim and wheels. Note battery, software, wheel size and optional equipment that affect range, weight or charging.
- Use the same space convention. Compare seats-up boot volume with the same measurement method, and list folded-seat capacity separately.
- Describe charging completely. Record connector, AC limit, DC peak if published, and the exact charge window and conditions.
- Separate fact from expectation. Certified figures are not independent road tests. Real motorway, winter and towing performance require clearly identified tests.
What the rival references tell you
XPENG G7: a China-market technology benchmark
The official China-market G7 page lists 602 km and 702 km CLTC versions, a 2,890 mm wheelbase, 819–2,277 litres of boot capacity for listed versions and a 12-minute 10–80% DC charging claim. Its footnote says optional 20-inch wheels change some range and consumption values.

Those figures make the G7 a useful checklist of the data a rival may publish, not a direct forecast for the UK GS7. It is sold in a different market, uses CLTC rather than WLTP and may have equipment or software unavailable in Britain.
AION V UK: the closest same-brand UK yardstick
The UK AION V page gives the level of local detail a future GS7 page should provide: 317 miles WLTP, a 75.3 kWh LFP battery, 500 litres of rear boot space, Type 2 and CCS2 connectors, 11 kW maximum AC charging and 24 minutes for 10–80% DC charging. Its dimensions are 4,605 × 1,854 × 1,686 mm and its wheelbase is 2,775 mm.
Because it is a different model, those values cannot answer how far a GS7 travels, how large its boot is or how quickly it charges. They can, however, help you spot whether the GS7 announcement eventually provides a complete UK specification.

AION V Australia: why market context matters
GAC Australia’s AION V page lists 510 km WLTP, 427–978 litres of rear trunk space, 11 kW AC charging and 24 minutes for 10–80% DC. The differing boot figures compared with the UK page reinforce that capacity numbers need a market and measurement convention attached.
Questions to put to AION or a UK dealer
- Which GS7 powertrains and trims will be available in the UK at launch?
- What is the certified range for each version, and is it WLTP?
- What are the gross and usable battery capacities?
- Which wheel sizes are standard or optional, and how do they change range?
- What are the exterior dimensions, wheelbase and published rear-seat measurements?
- Is boot capacity quoted with the seats up, seats folded, or both?
- Which AC and DC connectors are fitted?
- What is the onboard AC limit and maximum DC rate?
- How long does each powertrain take over a stated charge window, and under what conditions?
- What are the UK price, warranty, service interval and confirmed delivery timing?
A dealer enquiry can be useful after UK ordering opens, but the GS7 should not be described as available in British showrooms before AION confirms that status.
What to avoid when reading early GS7 coverage
- Do not copy AION V range, battery, boot or charging figures into a GS7 table.
- Do not convert CLTC to an invented WLTP equivalent or call either figure a real-world result.
- Do not treat a five-seat description as proof of generous rear legroom or luggage space.
- Do not compare a PHEV’s total driving range with a battery-electric SUV’s charge-to-charge range.
- Do not quote a planned 2027 arrival as a guaranteed registration date.
- Do not treat a company executive’s quality statement as independent evidence of range, space or charging performance.
Jon Wakefield, Managing Director of AION Auto UK, said the company was “not a new brand” and described the product as exceptionally mature. That is a promotional statement about the company’s positioning, not an independently measured claim about GS7 capability.
Bottom line for a UK buyer in 2026
The GS7 is a planned 2027 five-seat AION SUV for the UK, with hybrid and plug-in hybrid power announced but no production numbers yet published for range, space, charging, trims or price. The responsible comparison is therefore a specification checklist, not a winner-and-loser verdict.
