The Afreda S6 is a folding, three-wheel electric vehicle with two tilting front wheels that can move independently over uneven surfaces. That design helps it negotiate modest obstacles, but it does not make the S6 a lightweight carry-on or guarantee it will climb steep hills. A 2024 road-test review found it easy to wheel when folded and capable on gravel and low sidewalks, while also reporting difficulty lifting its 31 kg test unit and a failure to climb one very steep ramp.
What the Afreda S6 is—and how its front wheels work
Afreda describes the S6 as an electric scooter, e-bike and all-terrain trike. Its layout is a reverse trike: two wheels at the front and one at the rear. The front-wheel linkage is the unusual part. New Atlas reported in 2022 that each front wheel can tilt into a turn by up to 40 degrees and move vertically by up to 11 inches (279 mm), with that movement serving as front suspension. The current product listing describes a 250 W EU-regulation variant and a 500 W variant, along with two riding modes, hydraulic disc brakes and dual batteries. How the riding modes change the feel
Stable Mode
Afreda says Stable Mode locks the front linkage into a more stable three-wheel setup. Its FAQ recommends using this mode at speed one and on flat terrain. Treat that as manufacturer guidance, not a guarantee that the S6 cannot tip or that every rider will find it suitable. Afreda’s FAQ

Free Mode
Free Mode allows the front wheels to tilt more freely. Afreda presents it as the mode for off-road use or faster, more maneuverable riding. The available evidence describes the intended behavior, but does not establish that Free Mode is safe for every speed, rider or trail. Learn the mechanism in an appropriate, controlled setting and follow the instructions for your exact model.
What published riding evidence says about uneven ground
In a July 2024 review, Kara Santos of Top Gear Philippines reported riding over small ramps, low sidewalks, rocks and gravel. The S6 handled those obstacles on the reviewer’s routes. But it could not build momentum on one very steep basement ramp; the reviewer dismounted and used the throttle to help push and wheel it up. The review covered nearby neighborhood routes and a university campus with established bike lanes, and cautioned that results could differ on Metro Manila streets or regular steep hills. The same reviewer found the saddle comfortable over potholes, humps and uneven roads, but a taller co-rider found the leg position cramped. Rider fit and the steepness and surface of your regular route may matter as much as the front linkage. Test the position and handling yourself if possible, especially if you are tall or expect to ride sustained hills.
Does folding make it easy to transport?
Folding makes the S6 easier to wheel and stow, but not necessarily easy to carry. Santos reported that her 31 kg test vehicle rolled easily when folded and was bulky to lift into a car without help. New Atlas reported launch-era weights of about 26 kg for the Lite and 31 kg for the Pro; those figures refer to different launch variants and should not be treated as the weight of every current configuration.

Before buying, check the folded dimensions and weight of the precise version, then compare them with your storage space, stairs, vehicle opening and ability to lift. The 2024 reviewer also said the tested unit’s batteries could only be charged while attached to the vehicle. Top Gear Philippines quoted Afreda’s claimed range as 60 km in Mode 1 and roughly 50 km in Mode 2. These are manufacturer figures as reported in the 2024 review, not independently validated range results. The reviewer described one use sequence: a 15 km test ride, followed by riding until the display showed 42.7 km total and the battery was depleted. That single account is not a standardized range test and does not predict what another rider will achieve.

Afreda’s FAQ lists a maximum load of 150 kg (330 lb). It also states a five-year frame warranty, two years for components except wearing parts, and one year for the battery. The FAQ names tires, disc brakes, chain and brake pads as examples of excluded wear parts. Check local rules before treating it as an e-bike
Afreda’s FAQ says, “We can mostly classify Afreda S6 as Class 2 E-bike (throttle-assisted).” That is the manufacturer’s description, not a legal determination. Vehicle classifications and rules depend on where you ride and may turn on motor power, speed, throttle operation or other specifications. Before buying or using the S6 on public roads or paths, check current local definitions, registration requirements, permitted road access and helmet rules. A Philippines review’s discussion of local rules at the time of publication should not be taken as current guidance for other places.
What to verify before buying
- Version and configuration: Confirm the motor variant, battery arrangement, dimensions and included equipment for your market.
- Storage and lifting: Check folded size and actual model weight against your stairs, car and storage location; folding does not remove the burden of lifting.
- Your route: Look beyond the phrase “all-terrain.” Published riding evidence covers modest obstacles and gravel, while one very steep ramp defeated the tested S6.
- Fit and load: Check seated posture, legroom and the stated 150 kg maximum load against your needs.
- Charging and service: Confirm whether the battery can be removed for charging on your version, and verify local availability and compatibility of replacement parts.
- Legal use and security: Check local riding and helmet rules. For long parking, consider a bike lock only after confirming it can secure this frame design.
