Its discreet exterior keeps the van’s solid side panels, while concealed service compartments and a substantial electrical system support off-grid use. The design choices make it low-profile, not guaranteed to be undetectable or suitable for overnight parking everywhere.
What makes the Last Resort look less like an RV?
Rather than cut conventional RV windows into the sides, Advanced RV retained the Sprinter’s solid side panels. Water and dump connections, an outdoor shower, and air-compressor connections are tucked into long, narrow compartments in the side skirts. The compartments are lit with LEDs for access.
These are styling and packaging choices, not proof that the van cannot be recognized as a camper or that it may be parked overnight in any location. Parking rules and site restrictions still apply.
What off-grid equipment does this custom van have?
New Atlas reported the Last Resort’s electrical system as 828Ah, built around eight lithium batteries, with a 3000W inverter. The batteries and key electrical and computer equipment are installed in a false-floor garage area. These figures describe this particular build; they are not a general recommendation for a camper van.

Advanced RV said solar panels were not necessary for the electrical system it engineered for this van. That statement concerns the Last Resort’s specific system, and the report provides no independent performance test or charging data to generalize from.
The reported water tank capacity is 151L. The source does not give water-use measurements or an estimate of how many days that capacity would last, which depends on occupants and their habits.

How do the kitchen and bed work in the compact layout?
An L-shaped kitchen sits ahead of the raised rear bed. It has a sink and counter space but no built-in stove; the owners can cook with a portable stove. A hinged panel serves as the kitchen backsplash by day and folds down at night to add about a foot to the bed’s length.
What are the bathroom and roof access like?
The wet bath includes a toilet and a teak shower grate. Its double-door arrangement lets occupants close the full doorway or just the lower section while using a deployable shower curtain.

Above the bed, a marine-grade hatch opens onto a custom roof rack made with an aluminum frame and perforated mesh. The rack doubles as a sitting deck, and the hatch provides the described access route instead of an exterior ladder.

A display mounted in portrait orientation swivels on an articulated arm. New Atlas says it connects to Apple TV, a small portable computer, and cameras on the roof rack. The report does not identify specific display or computer models. It also describes perimeter cameras, but gives no further specifications.

How much did the Last Resort cost?
The 2020 New Atlas report does not state a price for the Last Resort itself. It reported that Advanced RV custom vans started at around $300,000 at that time; that was a starting figure for the builder’s custom vans, not a quote for this van or a current price.
