The ABT RS6-R is a limited conversion of the C8 Audi RS 6 Avant, not a separate factory Audi model. ABT’s 2020 European launch specification quoted 740 hp and 920 Nm; ABT America documented a different North American configuration at 690 hp and 649 lb-ft. ABT announced a run of 125 worldwide, combining engine upgrades with aerodynamic, exhaust, wheel, suspension and cabin changes.
What is the ABT RS6-R?
ABT Sportsline created the RS6-R by modifying the C8-generation Audi RS 6 Avant. The underlying car is a high-performance estate with everyday carrying practicality; “the world’s most practical supercar” is a colorful editorial description, not a ranking supported by comparative testing. ABT’s own launch announcement called the RS 6 an estate that combines sporty qualities and practical use, a promotional assessment rather than an independent finding. ABT Sportsline’s April 6, 2020 announcement describes the European edition.
The RS6-R is therefore best understood as a specialist conversion applied to a donor RS 6 Avant. Its equipment and approval requirements can depend on the individual car and market, so an RS6-R badge alone does not establish a particular specification.
How much horsepower does the ABT RS6-R have?
There are two official figures in ABT’s 2020 material, associated with different regional configurations. ABT Sportsline’s European launch article gives 740 hp (544 kW) and 920 Nm from the 4.0-litre V8 TFSI. It describes this as 140 hp and 120 Nm above the standard model it cites. ABT America lists 690 hp and 649 lb-ft, compared with 591 hp and 590 lb-ft for the standard model in its North American announcement.

The sources do not explain the precise technical or regulatory reasons for the regional difference. Treat the figures as market-specific published specifications, not interchangeable claims or a typo. For a particular vehicle, verify the build documentation and applicable market specification. What does the ABT RS6-R package include?
The March 2020 ABT flyer describes a bundle of powertrain, exterior, chassis and interior changes. The actual fit and required donor equipment should be confirmed against the car’s VIN and market paperwork.

- Cabin details: steering-wheel refinements, mats, door sills numbered “1 of 125,” and other trim.
The flyer also lists required or specified OEM equipment, including RS-Dynamik plus, the carbon/black optic package, RS suspension plus with DRC, and black mirror caps. Check that the donor car and the conversion paperwork match these requirements; do not assume components or replacement wheels and tires fit every RS6-R. How many ABT RS6-Rs were made?
ABT announced that it planned to convert 125 Audi RS 6 cars into the limited RS6-R, and ABT America also described the edition as 125 units worldwide. This is the announced production allocation, not proof that every allocated conversion was completed. ABT America later reported that Pacific German in Laguna Hills, California, built the first completed North American RS6-R; that article does not establish present-day inventory or availability. The October 22, 2020 report documents that milestone.

How much did the ABT RS6-R package cost?
ABT’s March 2020 flyer listed a package price of €69,900 including 19% VAT. Installation, painting and TÜV approval were additional. That historical package price did not include the donor Audi RS 6 Avant, and it is not a current quote or a reliable estimate of today’s total conversion cost.
The flyer also listed an optional selectable top speed of 320 km/h and a two-year manufacturer warranty. The speed figure is a listed option, not an independently verified test result; the warranty statement is tied to the historical package material and should not be assumed to apply to a current or previously converted car. Confirm coverage, approval and any remaining warranty directly from the vehicle’s documentation and the relevant ABT representative.

What do the published fuel-consumption figures mean?
The flyer lists WLTP figures of 21.1 l/100 km low, 12.8 medium, 10.3 high, 10.7 extra-high and 12.4 combined, with combined CO₂ emissions of 281 g/km. ABT explicitly labels those figures as applying to the standard production vehicle, not as independent measurements of the RS6-R conversion. They should not be presented as tested RS6-R consumption.
What to check on an RS6-R before buying or servicing it
- Match the car’s VIN, conversion invoice and market-specific documents to the claimed RS6-R specification.
- Confirm the installed ABT parts and required OEM equipment rather than relying on exterior badges or advertised output alone.
- For wheel or tire replacement, verify the actual wheel size, 285/30 R22 specification if applicable, tire load and speed ratings, TPMS compatibility and local requirements.
- Check the specific vehicle’s TÜV or other applicable approval records, installation and paint documentation, and any warranty terms in writing.
- Ask whether the quoted power figure refers to the European 740 hp specification or the North American 690 hp specification.
ABT’s 2020 North American announcement said the RS 6 Avant would arrive there for the 2021 model year. That is historical context, not evidence of current availability or dealer stock.
