The WaterCar H1 Panther is a low-volume amphibious vehicle that combines a Humvee-like all-terrain look with a V8-powered 4×4 drivetrain and a planing water configuration. WaterCar currently lists two examples—one from 2022 and one from 2023—for $535,000 each. Its performance figures are manufacturer claims, not independently verified test results.

What is the WaterCar H1 Panther?

The H1 Panther is WaterCar’s amphibious vehicle, designed to travel on land and water. Its styling evokes a Humvee, but that resemblance should not be taken as evidence of military Humvee status or shared chassis lineage; the available sources identify it as a WaterCar H1 Panther and do not establish either connection.

WaterCar says it released the Python before the Panther and describes the Panther as its first production vehicle after 14 years of development. That history is the company’s account. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s manufacturer record identifies Watercar Inc. and lists Watercar, Panther, and H1-Panther among its trade or brand names.

How much does a WaterCar H1 Panther cost?

WaterCar’s current sale page lists a 2022 blue H1 Panther and a 2023 grey H1 Panther at $535,000 each. They are offered individually, not as a paired sale. The listing describes them as low-mileage vehicles from the CEO’s personal collection. Availability and asking prices can change, so confirm directly with the seller.

What engine and specifications does the listing give?

WaterCar lists the following specifications for each of the two advertised H1 Panthers. Panther equipment varies by individual vehicle, so confirm the build sheet for the specific example rather than treating these details as universal across the model line.

Specification WaterCar’s listing
Engine Chevrolet LS3 gasoline V8
Listed engine output 430 HP and 425 lb-ft of torque
Transmission and drive 4×4 automatic transmission
Seating 5–6 people
Tires 35-inch mud-terrain tires

These are seller-published specifications for the listed vehicles, not an independent inspection or test. WaterCar’s Panther information page notes that specifications vary among individual Panthers.

How fast does the H1 Panther go on water?

WaterCar claims a water speed of up to 35 knots, a land-to-water transition of about 20 seconds, and roughly six seconds to plane. Those are the manufacturer’s stated figures; no independent performance test is established by the available sources. Actual performance for a particular vehicle should be checked against its configuration and condition.

Can it drive on roads and in water?

It is presented by WaterCar as an amphibious vehicle, but the listing does not establish whether either specific H1 Panther is currently registered for road use or what vessel requirements apply. Those answers depend on the exact vehicle and the relevant jurisdiction. A buyer should verify its title, registration, and applicable marine requirements before relying on it for either use.

What should a prospective buyer verify?

Because the two advertised vehicles are individual used examples and Panther specifications vary, ask for vehicle-specific documentation before making a decision:

  • The exact model-year build sheet and installed equipment.
  • Engine, drivetrain, and marine-system details, along with maintenance records.
  • Title and registration status for intended road use in the buyer’s jurisdiction.
  • Applicable vessel requirements and the equipment needed for intended water use.
  • Access to an inspection by qualified professionals familiar with both automotive and marine systems.
  • Whether suitable insurance is available for the vehicle and the intended uses.

The listing and company pages do not establish road-registration status, marine certification, insurance availability, or independent performance results for either vehicle. These are matters to confirm for the specific example, not evidence of a defect.
