He has also recalled an early-career Jeep Cherokee purchase and mentioned a former Malibu. Affleck himself says he likes cars but does not consider himself a collector.
Which cars did Ben Affleck say he owned?
In a Men’s Journal interview, Affleck said he and his brother bought a Cadillac Sedan DeVille in 1991, restored it, and still drove it periodically when he gave the interview. He identified it as a 1969 model and also named a 1966 Chevelle.
| Vehicle | What Affleck said | What the account establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Cadillac Sedan DeVille | He and his brother bought it in 1991, restored it, and drove it periodically; Affleck called it a 1969 model in Men’s Journal. | His statement of ownership at the time of that interview, not a current ownership record. |
| Chevrolet Chevelle | Affleck named a 1966 Chevelle as another car he had. | His statement of ownership at the time of the Men’s Journal interview. |
| Black Jeep Cherokee | He recalled buying one after receiving payment for the Good Will Hunting script. | A past purchase he described in a 2019 profile, not evidence of present ownership. |
| Convertible Malibu | Architectural Digest mentioned a convertible Malibu he used to have. | A former car, according to that interview. |
Why do accounts give different years for the Cadillac?
The model year is not consistent across Affleck’s interviews. Men’s Journal identifies the car as a 1969 Cadillac Sedan DeVille and says it was periodically driven at the time. In a 2013 Architectural Digest feature, Affleck called it a 1972 Sedan De Ville and said it was in storage for sentimental reasons. These accounts differ on both the year and its reported use; neither should be silently treated as a definitive current description.
Does Ben Affleck collect cars?
Affleck answered that question directly in Men’s Journal: “I don’t collect cars.” He said he especially likes 1960s American cars, but did not think two cars made someone a collector. His own description is more precise than the collection framing in the headline: he likes classic cars, while rejecting the collector label.

What was Affleck’s Jeep Cherokee story?
In a 2019 Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie profile, Affleck recalled that he and Matt Damon each received $300,000 from the sale of the Good Will Hunting script. He said that after depositing the check and moving into a house, he went to a Chrysler dealership and bought his “dream car”: a black Jeep Cherokee with all the trimmings. This is a retrospective account of an early purchase, not confirmation that he still owns the SUV.
Which cars are interests, former vehicles, or film promotions—not confirmed ownership?
Architectural Digest also described Affleck browsing Chevelles and other classic cars on eBay. That supports an interest in those cars, not ownership of every model he viewed. The same feature refers to a convertible Malibu he used to have, which makes it a former vehicle rather than part of a confirmed current collection.

A BMW Group PressClub USA release connects an R 1150 R Rockster motorcycle with the film Paycheck and a promotional giveaway involving Affleck. It does not say that he personally owned the motorcycle. In a WIRED autocomplete interview, he joked about driving a car with a “very minuscule carbon footprint” but named no make or model, so the remark does not identify another vehicle.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What can be said about his current car collection?
The available interviews are snapshots from different years, not a live inventory. The best-supported answer is that Affleck said he had a Cadillac Sedan DeVille and a 1966 Chevelle in the Men’s Journal interview; earlier accounts add a former Malibu and a recalled Jeep purchase. The Cadillac year conflicts across sources, and these statements do not establish which vehicles he owns now.
