Yes, six-door trucks are real—but the examples covered here are custom conversions, not ordinary factory pickup configurations. They pair a heavy-duty truck platform and pickup bed with an extended passenger cab. The number of doors alone does not tell you how many people may safely or legally ride in a particular build.
What is a six-door truck?
A six-door truck is typically a heavy-duty pickup modified to add doors and cabin space beyond the standard cab layout. The result can look like a long passenger cabin joined to a pickup bed, but there is no single standard design: builders may use different donor vehicles, door arrangements, seating plans, and construction methods.
The Stretch Truck Company lists six-door Super Duty work trucks and Excursion conversions, and says it has completed more than 700 conversions. That total is the company’s own claim, not an independently audited industry figure. The Stretch Truck Company
King Series also describes custom six-door builds and cab kits. Its blog reproduces the question it says people ask when they see one: “Is that thing real?” The answer is yes, though the exact vehicle is a one-off or specialist conversion rather than a factory-defined six-door model. How are six-door trucks built?
There is no universal conversion recipe. The work depends on the truck’s platform, body material, chosen door layout, and whether the chassis must be lengthened. Builder descriptions and published examples show that these projects can involve substantial body, structural, and supporting-system changes.
King Series’ described cab process
King Series says its process involves removing outer roof and side panels, welding structural cab metal from behind, reinforcing the structure internally, and fitting custom composite panels. The company also says 2017-and-newer aluminum-body Ford Super Duty trucks require a different door solution: according to King Series, the rear door cannot be reused as a middle door in the way older layouts allowed. Its company page describes a cab-kit approach for 2017–2026 models. These are the builder’s descriptions, not an independent engineering assessment. King Series Trucks

A reported F-550 example
In a February 25, 2026 feature, Ken Brubaker of Offroad Xtreme reported on Adrenalin Industries’ 2025 Ford F-550 “Overkill Judgment.” The build started with an F-550 Chassis Cab Crew Cab 4×4, added three feet of frame rail, and combined the original cab with a second donor crew cab. The report says the conversion also required changes to wiring, brake lines, and the rear driveshaft. Offroad Xtreme attributed more than 650 hours of work on the cab alone to the builder. How many people can a six-door truck carry?
Door count is not a seating-capacity rating. Cabin layout and approved seating capacity depend on the specific conversion, so do not infer a passenger count from photographs or the number of doors.

- Great Product
In the F-550 feature, the third row was made from the original second-row seats, while a front bench served as the second row. King Series advertises capacity for up to nine passengers in its own truck; that is a builder claim about its vehicle, not a capacity that applies to all six-door conversions. Ask for documentation showing the approved seating positions and restraints for the exact finished vehicle.

What should you verify before buying one?
Because six-door conversions are not standardized, compare the finished vehicle and its documentation—not just the donor truck’s original specifications or the builder’s promotional description. There is no independent comparison dataset in the sources cited here.
- Donor and body: Confirm the make, model year, cab material, and whether the chassis has been extended.
- Cab construction: Ask how the cab is joined and reinforced, how doors are sourced, and what corrosion protection is used.
- Seats and restraints: Get the approved seating capacity and details for each seat belt, access point, and HVAC arrangement.
- Supporting systems: Request a written account of changes to the frame, wiring, brakes, driveshaft, suspension, and other affected systems.
- Bed, towing, and payload: Verify the ratings for the completed vehicle. Do not assume the donor truck’s original ratings remain applicable after conversion.
- Records and ownership: Ask for build documentation, inspection records, warranty terms, service support, registration status, and confirmation from your insurer for the exact VIN and configuration.
- Price and schedule: Request a complete written quote that identifies included work and parts. The $300,000 figure reported for the 2025 F-550 is one specific 2026 example, not a market average.
Steps, access, and fitment
An extended, tall cab can make entry and exit a practical concern. The Mid America Collision F-450 example lists full-length AMP power steps, while the Offroad Xtreme F-550 feature describes modified retractable steps. Those examples show why step fitment should be considered as part of the conversion: confirm the length, mounting points, and ground clearance on the specific truck. A standard four-door running-board kit should not be assumed to fit a stretched cab.

Safety, legality, and insurance are specific to the vehicle
The sources cited here do not establish a universal safety certification, road-legal status, insurance outcome, or passenger count for six-door conversions. A builder’s marketing language alone does not establish that a particular truck is certified or “OEM safe.” Before purchase or road use, ask the builder, the relevant vehicle authority, and your insurer about the exact VIN and completed configuration; requirements and decisions can depend on jurisdiction and vehicle details.
