Northern Tool identifies the PL250 as an aircraft-aluminum ATV Power Loader rated for 250 lb and weighing 29 lb. It operates from a factory or aftermarket winch, which is not included. The retailer identifies a separately sold PLUT-1 adapter bracket for UTV mounting; confirm the bracket and rack layout against the instructions for your machine before buying. The manufacturer describes use with ATV, UTV, and pickup vehicles, but that broad description does not establish fit for every rack or vehicle. The Ox Rack: a UTV front-bumper system
The Ox Rack attaches to a UTV’s front bumper and is intended as both a loader and utility rack. Its manufacturer says it can lift up to 500 lb only when the load remains within the UTV’s front-axle limit. It recommends a winch of at least 2,000 lb capacity, sold separately. Dirt Wheels’ guide dated October 10, 2025, reports a 600 lb capacity, a 3,000 lb 12 V winch, wired remote, telescoping height from 6 ft to 8 ft 7 in, and 360-degree rotation for the Extreme Max 5001.6787. Those figures are the magazine’s reported specifications, not independently measured performance. How to choose: compare the whole setup, not just capacity
1. Identify the mounting point
Decide whether your machine can support a loader on an ATV metal rack, a UTV front bumper, a receiver, or whether a portable freestanding loader suits the job. A product described for “most” vehicles is not proof of universal compatibility. Check dimensions, attachment hardware, and the manufacturer’s vehicle-specific instructions.
2. Check vehicle limits against the load
A loader’s stated capacity does not increase the ATV or UTV’s rack, hitch, payload, axle, or suspension limits. Account for the animal and any other load carried on the machine, and follow the vehicle manufacturer’s limits for the exact configuration. The Ox Rack specifically conditions its 500 lb figure on the UTV front axle limit; do not treat that number as a safe load for every UTV.

3. Add up the winch and hardware requirements
The PL250 requires a factory or aftermarket winch and excludes it. The Tilt-N-Tote listing says its winch is included. The Ox Rack recommends a minimum 2,000 lb winch and sells it separately. Confirm that any existing winch, mount, wiring, and controls meet the chosen loader’s instructions; a winch’s rating alone does not establish that the full vehicle setup is suitable.
4. Match the loading method to the job
These designs do not handle game in the same way: some use a powered winch, while the HME uses a manual crank; rack, bumper, and receiver systems also differ in how they position the load. Read the specific instructions to understand the loading sequence and whether the loader must be removed or stowed before transporting the animal. The available specifications do not establish one universally safest method.

5. Consider weight and storage
Among the listed ATV-oriented options, the PL250 is listed at 29 lb, the HME at 20 lb and fold-flat, and the Tilt-N-Tote at 49 lb. These are figures from separate product pages, not independent weigh-ins. Consider whether you can store and install the unit conveniently, and whether its configuration leaves room for transporting the animal.
6. Recheck price, warranty, and availability
