1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor a four-door car under $10,000, shop sporty sedans—not coupes, convertibles, or roadsters—and treat the budget as a ceiling to verify against local listings, not a promise of a good example. The candidates below span true performance sedans and more practical cars with sporting character; price, trim, condition, and availability vary too much to certify ten current bargains from published averages alone.
What counts as a four-door sports car?
Here, “sports car” is used colloquially for a four-door sports sedan or sporty sedan. Body style matters: a general affordable-sports-car list may include two-door cars that do not meet this brief. Autotrader’s July 2025 list, for example, included the four-door Infiniti G37 sedan alongside the Audi TT, Mazda Miata, Nissan 350Z, and Pontiac Solstice, which are not four-door choices: Autotrader’s list.
None of the candidates below is guaranteed to be available today in good condition below the cap. The published price evidence is not a consistent, current comparison of exact trims, mileage, title status, and condition. Use it as context, then verify the particular car and its local asking price.
Four-door candidates to consider
| Model | Driving character and drivetrain considerations | Price evidence and what it does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|
Infiniti G37 sedan |
A performance-sedan choice for shoppers who want a more assertive driving character. Confirm the exact sedan trim and drivetrain on the car you are considering. | In July 2025, Autotrader said the 2011 G37 range, including the sedan, was within a $10,000 budget. Its 325-hp figure describes the range in that article, not necessarily every sedan configuration. It is not a current price guarantee: Autotrader. |
BMW 3 Series sedan |
A compact sports-sedan candidate. Check the individual car’s maintenance history and condition rather than assuming that a low asking price means it is ready for daily use. | IIHS reported a $9,900 starting used price for 2012-and-newer sedans in November 2018. That is historical context, not a 2026 market quote: IIHS, November 2018. Individual listings displayed by Autopten included a 2010 BMW 325 at $9,995 with 117,000 miles in New Hampshire and a 2008 BMW 535xi at $9,500 with 130,000 miles in Indiana. Those are listing examples, not market averages or assurances of present availability: Autopten. |
Acura TL |
A larger, comfort-oriented sporty sedan. Verify the specific trim and equipment; the broad used-car price data does not isolate sport-oriented versions. | IIHS, using Black Book data for April 2026, gives a median retail price of $8,200 for 2012–2014 TL examples built after April 2012. This is broad model-year price context, not a quote for a particular trim: IIHS used-vehicle recommendations. |
Mazda6 |
A midsize sedan that can combine everyday usefulness with sporting character. Consumer Reports called the 2015 Mazda6 “one of the sportiest midsized sedans.” | Consumer Reports reported 32 mpg overall in its test of a 2015 Mazda6; that is the result for its test car, not an expected figure for every used example. The source does not establish a current price for a particular Mazda6: Consumer Reports, Buying Guide 2026. |
Subaru Impreza sedan |
A practical, sporty option to consider if all-weather use is important. Do not treat every Impreza as a WRX: identify the exact trim and drivetrain on the vehicle. | IIHS gives an $8,000 median retail price for 2014–2025 Impreza sedans or wagons, using Black Book data for April 2026. That broad figure does not establish the price of a WRX: IIHS used-vehicle recommendations. |
Honda Accord sedan |
A roomier alternative with sporty possibilities, particularly in appropriately equipped V6 versions. Confirm engine and trim rather than assuming the model name identifies the powertrain. | IIHS gives an $8,300 median retail price for a broad range of 2013–2025 Accord sedans, including listed hybrid years, using Black Book data for April 2026. It does not isolate sportier trims or V6 models: IIHS used-vehicle recommendations. |
These six are candidates, not a verified ranking of the ten best deals. The evidence here does not establish current, condition-adjusted prices for a further four models, so adding names such as the Mazda3, Subaru Legacy, or Audi A4 would not make this a defensible list of ten bargains. If considering those models, verify the exact four-door body style, trim, and local listings independently.

How to choose among the candidates
- Start with the kind of drive you want. Distinguish a performance sedan such as the G37 from a mainstream sedan with sporting character, such as the Mazda6. Do not infer comparable acceleration or handling from these descriptions; the available evidence does not provide a consistent cross-model test.
- Match drivetrain to your use. Confirm whether the individual car is front- or all-wheel drive and whether that configuration suits your conditions. Do not assume every model or trim has the same setup.
- Check daily practicality. A midsize or larger sedan may be a better fit if rear-seat room and routine use matter more than a compact footprint. Assess the actual car’s seating, cargo needs, and condition.
- Compare local examples, not model names. Ask price, mileage, title, trim, service history, and condition determine whether a particular car fits a $10,000 purchase limit. A broad median or old starting price cannot establish that.
- Keep ownership risk in view. The cited sources do not support a universal reliability or repair-cost ranking across these candidates. A documented, inspected car is a more meaningful target than a badge or a low asking price.
Check the specific car before buying
- Confirm identity and paperwork. Verify that the car is a four-door sedan and that its stated year, trim, engine, and drivetrain match the vehicle. Review the title and vehicle history, and ask for service records.
- Inspect the basics and take a test drive. Check tires, brakes, warning lights, and obvious leaks. Note how the car behaves during a drive, but do not treat a short drive as a substitute for a mechanical inspection.
- Arrange an independent inspection. Consumer Reports’ 2026 buying guide advises: “make sure to pay for a thorough inspection by a certified mechanic before you sign on the dotted line so there are no surprises down the road.” A diagnostic scanner can help reveal stored codes, but it cannot replace an inspection.
- Check recalls by VIN. Use NHTSA’s Check for Recalls tool. NHTSA notes that manufacturer recall information may be available through its VIN tool before it is posted on the agency site.
