The most recent public account of the project is New Atlas’s feature by Utkarsh Sood, published October 31, 2024. That report describes an early dummy build, not a finished or road-tested motorcycle, and nothing later has been confirmed for this article.
What the project is
The TV27R is a one-off custom from Meggat and his Meggatech Projects endeavor. Its defining idea is simple to state and hard to execute: take the power unit from a marine outboard, which was designed to hang off a transom and be cooled by the water it sits in, and install it in a motorcycle chassis that needs its own sealed cooling, its own intake and exhaust routing, and a way to get power to the rear wheel.
The engine: a marine V6 in a motorcycle frame
The donor is the Suzuki DT225, a marine outboard described in the New Atlas report as a 2,700 cc two-stroke V6 rated at 225 hp (168 kW). That is the engine’s rating as reported by New Atlas in 2024. It is not a measured output from the finished motorcycle, and no dyno figure for the bike has been published in the sources available for this article.
For scale, New Atlas also cites early Hayabusa context: the earliest Hayabusas made about 173 hp (129 kW) and carried a quoted top speed of 312 km/h (194 mph). Those figures come from New Atlas’s own feature and have not been checked against a primary Suzuki specification, so treat them as the article’s background, not as confirmed data.

Cooling: from open seawater to a sealed loop
The most instructive part of the build is the change in cooling philosophy. An outboard draws seawater through the powerhead and discharges it, so the engine never needs a radiator. A motorcycle needs a closed, pressurized loop that can hold coolant at operating temperature while the bike is stationary, in traffic, or on a hot day. Meggat’s answer, as the report describes it, is to keep the heat rejection up front and add a larger unit underneath.
| Item | Marine outboard (DT225, as designed) | TV27R motorcycle installation (as described) |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling medium | Seawater drawn from the surrounding water | Sealed, pressurized coolant loop |
| Heat rejection | Water discharged after passing the engine | Radiators: two at the front and one larger unit beneath the seat |
| Circulation | Not stated in the source for the outboard’s own pump arrangement | Twin electric pumps |
| Pump control | Not stated in the source | Thermo-switches |
| Practical consequence | Cooling depends on the water the boat is in | Cooling depends on airflow through the radiators and on pump operation |
The table reflects what New Atlas reports, not a test. The source does not say how the cooling system performs under load, how much airflow the rear radiator receives, or whether the setup has been run for any length of time.

Drivetrain: paired primary gears and a jackshaft
Getting power from the crankshaft to the rear wheel is the second major adaptation. Meggat routes it through paired primary gears and a transverse jackshaft, then into a stock GSX1400 clutch and gearbox. The jackshaft is what lets the engine’s orientation differ from a conventional motorcycle layout while the transmission and clutch stay in standard form.
The report does not give gear ratios, final drive details, or how the arrangement handles torque loads. Those are the questions a builder would have to answer before the bike could be ridden, and they are not addressed in the available coverage.

Intake and exhaust
- Intake: a shortened, reversed intake manifold that relocates the fuel rail and injectors, paired with a fabricated intake plenum. The reversal is needed to fit the engine into the motorcycle’s packaging.
- Exhaust: a custom 3-into-1 system. The report does not give pipe diameters, lengths, or any measured sound or emissions data.
Both systems are one-off fabrications described in general terms. Nothing in the report suggests they are reproducible without the builder’s own drawings and measurements.
Where the build stands
Meggat’s own description at the time was that the project was “still at a very early stage,” with only its first dummy build completed to work out the engineering and component arrangements. His stated next steps were to strip the bike down, complete the individual parts, and then move to surface finishing, painting, and final assembly.

What is not established in the October 2024 report, and therefore not established here:
- Whether the TV27R has been completed, painted, or assembled since then.
- Whether it has been started, ridden, or tested for power, handling, cooling, or reliability.
- Whether it is road legal in any jurisdiction, or what registration or inspection would apply.
- Its acceleration, emissions, fuel consumption, or real-world output.
Parts and practical caution
The exact DT225 model makes model-specific outboard parts a plausible path for anyone researching a similar conversion, but the report does not establish whether specific replacement parts are available or compatible. The one thing that can be stated clearly is that this is a modified motorcycle built around a marine engine, so generic Hayabusa parts should not be assumed to fit it. Any wiring, cooling, or drivetrain component taken from a standard Hayabusa would have to be checked against the TV27R’s modified layout before use.

For readers interested in the engineering rather than the purchase, the value of the project is the set of problems it exposes: packaging a V6 whose cooling and intake were designed for a different environment, and routing power through a jackshaft so that a stock clutch and gearbox can still do their job.
