These 25 vehicles stand out not as an objective ranking, but because they brought a distinct change or idea to the U.S. market: a new model, a redesign, a significant powertrain shift, or an unusual mix of technology and capability. The list spans electric vehicles, hybrids, gasoline cars, trucks, SUVs, and performance models. “New for 2024” can mean a 2024 model-year launch or a vehicle expected to arrive during calendar 2024, so the two are not interchangeable.
How to read this 2024 list
This is a U.S.-focused retrospective, not a definitive global top 25. The picks draw on three different editorial lenses: Edmunds’ December 2023 look at vehicles expected over the following year, Autotrader’s April 2024 list of eligible 2024 model-year vehicles, and Car and Driver’s segment-based Editors’ Choice selections. Autotrader required base models in its list to start below $110,000 including destination; that was its own selection rule, not a general definition of an interesting car. The publications’ different dates and criteria mean their lists are useful context, not a single shared ranking. Edmunds, Autotrader, and Car and Driver explain their approaches.
Each entry below earns its place for a particular change or use case. That does not make it the best choice for every buyer: compare it with direct rivals, and weigh the appeal against the trade-offs that matter to you.
Electric vehicles that expanded the field
1. Kia EV9
The EV9 brought a large, three-row electric SUV into a category where family space and electric driving had not always been paired. Its rear-wheel-drive Light trim had an EPA-estimated range of up to 304 miles in Autotrader’s 2024 coverage; that estimate is specific to that trim, not a promise for every EV9 configuration. It is an especially relevant pick for households considering an electric vehicle but needing more room than a small crossover offers. Charging access remains part of the ownership equation: Edmunds says EV ownership works best when a driver can charge at 240V at home or work.

2. Tesla Cybertruck
The Cybertruck made the electric pickup a high-profile part of the 2024 conversation. Its sharply unconventional design makes it a conspicuous alternative to familiar truck shapes, while its place in the pickup category invites practical questions about work use, towing, size, and charging. Edmunds included it among the vehicles it expected to arrive for 2024; that announcement-era framing should not be mistaken for a claim that every expected delivery occurred on schedule.
3. Chevrolet Silverado EV
Chevrolet’s electric Silverado put a familiar full-size pickup name into the EV transition. That makes it interesting to truck shoppers who want to consider electric power without leaving the pickup format. As with any electric truck, the right comparison is not just against other EVs: evaluate the specific configuration’s job capability and whether charging fits the routes and work it needs to cover.
4. Ram 1500 REV
The Ram 1500 REV added another full-size electric pickup to a segment traditionally defined by gasoline and diesel power. Its significance is the choice it represents for truck buyers weighing a battery-electric powertrain against established alternatives. Edmunds listed the REV separately from the Ramcharger, an important distinction: the two Ram entries signal different approaches to electrification.
5. Cadillac Escalade IQ
The Escalade IQ extended Cadillac’s flagship SUV identity into an all-electric vehicle. It is notable for bringing electric propulsion to the large-luxury-SUV end of the market rather than limiting the EV conversation to compact cars and crossovers. The scale and purpose of a vehicle like this make the practical questions—charging access, intended use, and the particular trim’s capabilities—as important as its novelty.
6. Honda Prologue
The Prologue marked Honda’s entry into the U.S. all-electric SUV conversation with a model distinct from its established gasoline and hybrid lineup. It is a useful point of comparison for buyers who want an electric crossover from a mainstream brand. Range, charging, and equipment should be checked for the exact version being considered rather than inferred from the model name.

7. Volvo EX30
The EX30 brought Volvo’s electric-SUV push to a smaller vehicle. Its appeal is the prospect of an EV that takes up less space than the three-row and full-size offerings elsewhere on this list. That makes it a different kind of answer to the question “what’s new for 2024?”—one centered on a compact footprint rather than maximum passenger or cargo capacity.
8. Mini Cooper EV
The electric Mini Cooper carried a familiar small-car identity into battery-electric form. It stood out among 2024’s anticipated EVs because it paired the shift to electric power with a compact car format, rather than another large SUV or pickup. Buyers should consider whether that size and vehicle role suit their daily needs, as well as how they would charge it.
Electrification beyond a conventional battery EV
9. Ram 1500 Ramcharger
The Ramcharger is the list’s most unusual powertrain distinction: Edmunds described it as an EV-oriented vehicle that uses a gasoline V6 in a generator role. That sets it apart from the battery-electric Ram 1500 REV and makes it relevant to buyers interested in electric propulsion but comparing different ways of handling energy on longer trips. It is not simply another name for the REV.

The E-Ray made electrification part of the Corvette performance story. Its V8 hybrid powertrain is rated at a combined 655 horsepower in both Edmunds’ and Autotrader’s 2024 coverage. Autotrader also cited a 0–60 mph time of 2.3 seconds; that is a source-reported figure, not an independent test result here. The E-Ray’s reason for inclusion is its combination of gasoline and electric power in a high-performance sports car, not fuel economy.
11. Toyota Camry
The redesigned 2024 Camry stood out because Toyota made the model a hybrid-only lineup in the U.S., a substantial powertrain shift for a long-running midsize sedan. That makes it notable both to shoppers looking for a conventional four-door car and to those comparing hybrid options without moving to an SUV. The change is more consequential than a styling update alone.

12. Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid
The Grand Highlander Hybrid brought hybrid power into a larger family-SUV format. Its place on the list reflects a practical use case—families seeking a roomy vehicle with a hybrid option—rather than a dramatic body style or sports-car performance. Buyers should compare the exact seating, cargo needs, and powertrain configuration they want; “hybrid” by itself does not establish a vehicle’s suitability.
Redesigned SUVs and family vehicles
13. Toyota Land Cruiser
The Land Cruiser’s return to the U.S. lineup made it one of the more recognizable nameplates in Edmunds’ 2024 preview. Its renewed place in the market gives SUV shoppers an option oriented toward the Land Cruiser’s off-road legacy rather than simply another urban crossover. Its inclusion reflects the significance of the model’s return; the right fit still depends on how much off-pavement capability a buyer will actually use.

14. Chevrolet Traverse
The Traverse represented a fresh entry in the three-row family-SUV category. It matters to buyers who prioritize passenger and cargo utility, a part of the market that can be overshadowed by attention to EVs and luxury launches. Compare the specific version’s seating and storage arrangements with family needs instead of treating all three-row SUVs as interchangeable.
15. Lexus GX
The redesigned GX brought a new generation of Lexus’ more rugged SUV to the 2024-model-year conversation. It is an interesting contrast to the smooth-road focus of many luxury crossovers: the GX’s appeal is tied to a more capability-oriented SUV identity. That character also means shoppers should weigh real use—daily driving, passenger needs, and off-road plans—rather than choose on appearance alone.
16. Lincoln Nautilus
The redesigned Nautilus added a technology-led luxury crossover to the year’s new-model mix. It is a reminder that “interesting” does not have to mean an entirely new vehicle category: a major redesign can change the experience of an established nameplate. Buyers comparing it with rivals should consider the cabin and technology they value alongside the vehicle’s practical size and powertrain.

17. Hyundai Kona
The redesigned Kona offered more cabin room, a point highlighted in Car and Driver’s 2024 Editors’ Choice coverage. The same coverage notes a drawback of the base engine, a useful reminder that a redesign’s gains do not erase the need to compare trims. The Kona is a strong example of why an interesting new vehicle can be worth considering without automatically being the best fit for every driver.

18. Toyota Tacoma
The redesigned Tacoma was a major event in the midsize-pickup category, where buyers often compare vehicles as long-term tools as much as daily transportation. Its 2024 redesign makes it relevant to shoppers looking for a newer take on the midsize truck formula. Choose based on the configuration and capabilities required for actual work or recreation, not on the assumption that a new generation suits every truck buyer.
19. Ford Ranger
The Ranger’s redesign brought new attention to Ford’s midsize pickup. It provides another choice for shoppers who want a truck smaller than a full-size model, making it a useful counterpart to the Tacoma on this list. The distinction between the Ranger redesign and the F-150 refresh also shows why “new for 2024” covers different degrees of change.
20. Ford F-150
The F-150 received a refresh rather than an all-new generation. That still matters in a high-volume full-size pickup line: updates to an established work-and-family vehicle can be more relevant to many shoppers than a niche launch. Edmunds included the refreshed truck among vehicles it expected for 2024, but the word “refresh” is the key qualifier—not a clean-sheet redesign.
21. Jeep Wrangler
The Wrangler’s 2024 refresh kept an established off-road-oriented SUV in the year’s new-vehicle discussion. Its inclusion reflects the importance of updates to a familiar, capability-focused model, rather than a claim that the Wrangler was an entirely new vehicle. Buyers should match its distinctive off-pavement character to their intended use and daily-driving priorities.

22. Jeep Gladiator
The Gladiator also received a refresh, bringing pickup utility and Jeep’s off-road-oriented identity together in a model Edmunds highlighted for 2024. It is a distinctive alternative for shoppers who want a truck with a different emphasis from mainstream work pickups. As with the Wrangler, the vehicle’s appeal is most meaningful when its particular capabilities align with how the owner plans to use it.
23. Ineos Grenadier
The Grenadier was a new entrant in the U.S. market conversation for buyers drawn to a deliberately utilitarian, off-road-oriented SUV. Its contrast with polished family crossovers makes it one of the year’s more distinctive vehicles. Edmunds included it in its expected-for-2024 group; that preview context is different from a guarantee about timing or availability at every dealer.
Performance and premium models with a new angle
24. Ford Mustang
The 2024 Mustang represented a new generation of an enduring gasoline performance-car nameplate at a time when much of the new-car conversation centered on electrification. It is interesting precisely because it continued to make the traditional performance-car format part of the year’s choices. Buyers should compare the specific version’s performance and everyday practicality rather than assume every Mustang serves the same purpose.
25. Mercedes-Benz E-Class
The redesigned E-Class brought a fresh generation of a premium midsize sedan into the 2024 mix. Its inclusion shows that a year notable for electric trucks and large SUVs also offered a substantial update to a more traditional luxury-car format. It is most relevant to shoppers who want a sedan, and its appeal should be weighed against the features and priorities offered by direct segment rivals.

Which kind of 2024 vehicle fits your needs?
- For a family considering an EV: Start with the Kia EV9 if three-row space is central, or look at the Honda Prologue, Volvo EX30, and Mini Cooper EV for different vehicle sizes and roles. Check the range for the exact trim and your access to charging before comparing advertised range figures.
- For truck work or recreation: The Silverado EV, Ram 1500 REV, and Cybertruck represent the electric full-size-pickup direction; the Ramcharger offers a different, generator-supported EV approach. The Tacoma and Ranger are the redesigned midsize alternatives, while the F-150 was refreshed.
- For a hybrid: The Camry is the sedan choice; the Grand Highlander Hybrid targets family-SUV needs; the Corvette E-Ray uses hybrid power for performance rather than as a conventional economy-first choice.
- For off-pavement priorities: The Land Cruiser, GX, Wrangler, Gladiator, and Grenadier each make capability-oriented SUV or truck identity central to their appeal. Compare the exact vehicle and configuration to the terrain and passenger needs involved.
- For performance or a traditional premium car: Consider the Corvette E-Ray and Mustang for very different performance-car approaches, or the E-Class if a redesigned luxury sedan is the priority.
What “new for 2024” does—and does not—tell you
A calendar-year preview published before 2024 could include vehicles expected to arrive later, while a model-year list could include vehicles already on sale. For example, Edmunds’ preview appeared on December 22, 2023 and described vehicles expected over the next 12 months. Autotrader’s list appeared on April 1, 2024 and focused on 2024 model-year vehicles expected to be purchasable within the following nine months; it was later updated March 25, 2025. Neither framework proves that every vehicle launched at the same time or was available in every location.
For a present-day purchase, treat this as a retrospective shortlist, not a guide to current inventory, used prices, incentives, reliability, or operating costs. Those depend on the individual vehicle, location, condition, and date, and the cited roundups do not provide a comparable current dataset for all 25.
