Displays, materials and atmosphere
Toyota’s reveal describes a technology-focused cabin with a 14-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch driver display, customizable ambient lighting and SofTex-trimmed seating. An available panoramic roof is also listed. The announcement does not establish that every feature is standard across all grades or markets.
Second-row access and seating
The 2027 Highlander is a three-row SUV, and Toyota says it can seat up to seven when equipped with a second-row bench. The gallery shows second-row access and seating details, but does not establish every seating layout’s availability by grade.

What changed for the 2027 Highlander?
The 2027 model marks a major shift for the Highlander nameplate: Toyota announced it as an all-electric SUV. Toyota’s U.S. announcement lists XLE and Limited grades, with front- or all-wheel drive available. It also gives a 320-mile manufacturer-estimated range for specified AWD versions; that estimate should not be read as applying to every grade or configuration.
For a separate market-specific example, Toyota Canada’s February 2026 announcement reported a manufacturer-estimated 511 km for the XLE AWD with a 95.8-kWh battery, noting that actual range varies with conditions. That Canadian specification is not a U.S. trim claim.

Toyota’s live upcoming-vehicle gallery currently identifies the Highlander as a 2028 model and includes 2028 feature copy. For a 2027 picture tour, the safer year-specific references are Toyota’s February 2026 reveal and the dated Car and Driver galleries linked above. Do not assume that specifications on the current 2028 page describe the 2027 vehicle.
