The key buying question is whether its price, space, equipment, and powertrain choices fit your priorities better than close rivals such as the Hyundai Palisade.
What is new for the 2027 Kia Telluride?
The 2027 Telluride is redesigned around two powertrain choices: a 2.5-liter turbocharged gas engine and Kia’s first Telluride hybrid. Kia rates the hybrid at 329 horsepower. The model range spans practical front-wheel-drive trims and more heavily equipped versions, including the rugged-oriented X-Pro.
Kia America Vice President of Sales Eric Watson described the redesign as offering “more power, more room, bold new styling, and a standard turbocharged engine.” That is Kia’s promotional description; independent comparisons provide useful context, but the available reports do not establish a single overall winner for the family-SUV segment.
How much does the 2027 Kia Telluride cost?
Kia’s January 8, 2026 gas-model announcement lists the LX FWD at $39,190 MSRP, before a $1,545 destination charge. Kia’s February 26, 2026 hybrid announcement lists the EX FWD at $46,490 MSRP. Kia’s current pricing pages say MSRP excludes destination and handling, taxes, title, license, options, and dealer charges, and that dealer pricing may vary. Verify the current price and availability with a dealer.

The hybrid price is an entry point, not a like-for-like comparison with every gas trim. Equipment, drivetrain, and options affect the final total. For a useful comparison, match drivetrain and equipment as closely as possible and include destination in both vehicles’ prices.
Does the 2027 Telluride come as a hybrid, and what is its fuel economy?
Yes. Kia’s hybrid lineup includes EX, SX, X-Line SX, SX Prestige, and X-Line SX Prestige. The company publishes these EPA estimates by trim and drivetrain:

Kia identifies 35 mpg combined and an estimated 637-mile total range for the EX FWD. These are manufacturer-published EPA estimates, not results from an independent road test; real-world economy depends on conditions and driving. Kia also states a standard 4,500-pound towing capacity for the hybrid. Confirm the rating for the specific trim and configuration you are considering.

For the gas Telluride, Kia’s January 2026 announcement identifies a 2.5-liter turbo engine as standard. The supplied Kia fuel-economy figures above are for the hybrid, so they should not be used to estimate gas-model economy.

Kia lists seating for up to eight in the gas model. Seating configuration can vary by trim, including whether a vehicle has a second-row bench or captain’s chairs, so check the build sheet for the exact vehicle rather than assuming every Telluride seats eight.
That headline capacity does not answer the practical family questions: how easily the second row moves with a child seat installed, whether adults fit comfortably in the third row, or how much luggage remains behind it. The available reports do not provide measured answers to those questions. Families should check child-seat-anchor access, third-row entry, rear visibility, and cargo space in person.

Is the Telluride X-Pro a real off-road SUV?
X-Pro is Kia’s rugged-oriented trim. Kia lists AWD, 9.1 inches of ground clearance, an electronic limited-slip differential, terrain modes, recovery points, and all-terrain tires. Those features distinguish it from a road-focused configuration, but equipment specifications alone do not establish capability on difficult trails or how the vehicle rides on pavement. Independent testing of traction, ride, and trail performance would be needed to make that judgment.
How does the Telluride compare with the Hyundai Palisade and other rivals?
The Hyundai Palisade is the most direct comparison in the available reporting. An Associated Press summary of Edmunds’ roundup says the Telluride offers more rear cargo space, strong second-row legroom, and features such as dual wireless phone chargers. It also reports that the hybrid Telluride costs more than the hybrid Palisade, while adding some standard equipment, including ventilated front seats and a more advanced cruise-control system. This is a reported comparison, not a complete specification-by-specification test.

In a May 2026 report, the Associated Press said Edmunds tested the redesigned 2027 Telluride against the 2026 Palisade and described them as mechanically related, with many similarities. Buyers are therefore weighing differences in price, equipment, and preference rather than choosing between wholly unrelated vehicles.

Tom’s Guide reported a week-long comparison of a 2027 Telluride X-Pro SX-Prestige AWD and a 2026 Volkswagen Atlas Peak Edition. The tested Telluride was $59,580 as configured, versus $50,230 for the Atlas. The writer judged the Kia’s higher price to bring more premium equipment, including massaging driver’s seats, a digital rearview mirror, and 360-degree cameras. Those are as-tested totals for one high-trim pairing, not starting prices or a segment-wide verdict.
For any shortlist, compare equivalent configurations and check the details that matter to your household: total price including destination, EPA ratings and independent fuel-economy results, passenger and cargo measurements, child-seat fit, towing ratings, driver-assistance features, ride and cabin noise, warranty terms, and the actual price of the trim you want.

Kia’s prices and specifications establish a broad value and capability proposition, while the Edmunds-related reporting highlights real competition from the closely related Palisade.
