The specifications and prices below are announced figures; the vehicle is still preproduction, and independent road-test results are not available.
How much bigger is the 2027 ProMaster City?
Ram describes the new ProMaster City as larger than its predecessor. Car and Driver reports that the wheelbase grows from 122.4 inches to 129 inches and that overall length increases by nearly two feet. That extra length is reflected in a 111-inch (9-foot-3-inch) cargo floor, giving the van room for two standard U.S. pallets front to back, according to Ram.
The bigger footprint comes with an urban-use constraint in mind: Ram lists overall height at 77 inches, or under 80 inches, and says the van is intended to fit most urban parking structures. That is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee for every garage; check posted clearance against the specific vehicle and any roof equipment before entering.
How much cargo can it carry?
Ram repeatedly publishes cargo capacity of over 167 cubic feet for the cargo van. The load floor is 111 inches long, with 48.9 inches between the wheel wells and 54 inches of cargo height. Ram also cites a 23.2-inch step-in height. The combination is designed for bulky work items as well as boxed freight: the company says the space can accommodate two standard U.S. pallets or 4-by-8-foot construction materials.

There is an unresolved discrepancy on Ram’s U.S. consumer page: its prose gives 167 cubic feet, while a cargo-volume field on the same page displays 182.4 cubic feet. Ram has not explained the difference in the available materials, so 167 cubic feet is the safer figure to use until the company clarifies the specification.
Payload, towing and access
- Payload: up to 2,175 pounds, according to Ram’s consumer and fleet materials. Actual capacity depends on configuration and equipment.
- Towing: up to 2,000 pounds when equipped with the available Class 3 hitch. The rating is a maximum, not a promise that every configuration can tow that amount.
- Loading: a passenger-side sliding door is standard in the announced layout; rear access is through 180-degree swing doors or an optional liftgate.
- Upfits: Ram describes shelving, tool storage and workbench modules as suitable uses for the cargo area. Specific aftermarket fitment for the production 2027 van has not been established.
What powertrain and equipment does Ram announce?
Both configurations are announced with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder rated at 166 horsepower and 221 lb.-ft. of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. These are manufacturer specifications; no independent driving impressions or fuel-economy rating are available for the 2027 model.

Announced technology includes a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital rearview mirror, and a rear camera with rear parking sensors. Ram also lists forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and Driver Attention Alert. Passenger wagons are announced with second- and third-row side-curtain airbags.
Which versions and seating layouts are available?
Ram plans two trims, Tradesman and SLT, each offered as a cargo van or passenger wagon. Passenger seating is announced for five or eight people. Cargo models are also described with multiple panel and window combinations, though detailed combinations and production-equipment availability may vary.

Ram’s August 27, 2026 announcement lists a $2,595 destination charge. That makes the announced Tradesman Cargo starting price $39,995 including destination; the other prices above exclude destination. These are announced U.S. prices, not confirmed dealer quotes or evidence of vehicles currently in stock.
When will the 2027 ProMaster City arrive?
Ram says dealer arrival is expected in the first quarter of 2027. The timing is a target, not confirmation of a specific dealership’s inventory or delivery date. Ram’s vehicle page identifies the pictured van as preproduction and cautions that the production vehicle and features may vary, so final equipment and details should be confirmed when ordering.
