Keep 2026 and 2027 prices separate
The 2026 AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet quick-reference guide lists an $84,600 MSRP. That figure applies to model year 2026; the current 2027 page lists $85,700. The CLE 300 provides the least expensive route into the range and uses a 255-hp turbocharged four-cylinder with mild-hybrid drive. Edmunds reports that the engine and transmission can sometimes hunt for the right gear. That observation is a reviewer’s assessment, not a claim that every driver will experience the same behavior.

CLE 450: the balanced six-cylinder
Edmunds describes the CLE 450’s power as smooth and plentiful and its nine-speed shifts as seamless. It also found the ride comfortable while the car remained confident through bends. In Edmunds’ test of a 2026 CLE 450 Cabriolet, the car reached 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. That independent result differs from Mercedes-Benz’s 4.2-second manufacturer figure and applies to Edmunds’ tested 2026 car.
AMG CLE 53: the performance choice
The AMG combines a more powerful, AMG-enhanced inline-six with an electric auxiliary compressor and AMG Performance 4MATIC+. MotorTrend’s 2026 review found the AMG fun to drive, but said the engine can sound quiet when pushed and that the car is better suited to shorter stints of at-limit driving. Car and Driver describes the CLE as comfortable and well-equipped, but says its ride is not as plush as an E-Class sedan with air springs. These impressions are specific to the reviewers and cars they evaluated.

For a less expensive cruiser, the CLE 300 is the straightforward choice; the CLE 450 is the natural step up for six-cylinder power; and the AMG makes sense when performance is the priority. The reviews suggest weighing the AMG’s extra pace against its more focused character rather than assuming it is simply a more comfortable CLE.
Convertible comfort, space and technology
Mercedes describes the CLE Cabriolet’s top as a triple-layer power soft top and its cabin as a digital cockpit. Its launch information also describes AIRCAP and AIRSCARF convertible comfort equipment. Availability and standard-versus-optional status can vary by trim and model year, so check the equipment list for the specific car rather than assuming every feature is included.

The Cabriolet seats four, but the rear seats are best judged with the people who will use them. Edmunds and Car and Driver report 9.6 cubic feet of trunk space for the convertible. Car and Driver cites 11.2 cubic feet for the CLE coupe, a difference that illustrates the practical trade-off for open-air motoring. Measure the luggage you typically carry if trunk space is a deciding factor.
