What changed on the 2027 Ninja 650?
Kawasaki Motors Europe announced the 2027 updates on 30 September 2026. The biggest revisions are to the front suspension and brakes, with a revised rear spring intended to complement the new fork. Does the 2027 Ninja 650 have inverted forks?
Yes. Kawasaki says the conventional telescopic fork is replaced by a 37 mm Showa Separate Function Front Fork–Big Piston (SFF-BP) inverted fork. The manufacturer says the larger-piston design reduces damping pressure and is intended to improve control during attitude changes, corner-entry stability, and the planted feel under braking. Those are Kawasaki’s stated aims, not independently verified ride-test findings.
The rear spring rate is also uprated to work with the revised front end. Kawasaki says the overall suspension changes are designed to retain the bike’s natural, rider-friendly handling character rather than make it less approachable.

What brakes does the new Ninja 650 get?
The 2027 model moves from axial-mount two-piston front calipers to radial-mount four-piston calipers. Kawasaki says this configuration responds better to lever input and supports linear, controllable braking. The announcement supplies no comparative stopping-distance, lap-time, or other test measurements, so the hardware change should not be read as proof of a particular performance or safety gain.

The update is concrete where it concerns hardware: a different fork design, revised rear spring rate, and more pistons in radial-mount front calipers. Kawasaki’s explanation is that these changes should refine control and braking response without sacrificing the model’s accessible character. Whether a rider will notice a meaningful improvement in everyday use, and how it compares with rivals, cannot be settled by the manufacturer announcement alone.
