Some North American 2027 Chevrolet Corvettes with the new 6.7-liter LS6 V-8 may develop an oil leak near the oil pan and oil cooler adapter. GM service bulletin PIP6132 tells technicians how to address the condition: replace two oil pan high-pressure port seals. It is repair guidance, not a recall, and it does not mean every LS6-powered Corvette is affected.
What does GM’s bulletin say may happen?
GM’s preliminary service bulletin PIP6132, dated September 2026 and modified September 17, covers North American model-year 2027 Chevrolet Corvettes equipped with the 6.7-liter LS6. It describes a possible engine-oil leak that may be visible underneath the vehicle. On inspection, oil may appear between the oil pan and oil cooler adapter, with bubbling near the adapter’s front or rear mounting area while the engine is running. The bulletin’s application field says “All” VINs in the listed application range, but its condition describes a leak that some customers or technicians may notice. That does not establish that all covered cars leak or that every LS6 engine has a defect.
What is the fix?
PIP6132 directs professional technicians to replace two oil pan high-pressure port seals, GM part number 12746274. It says the oil cooler does not need to be separated from its adapter. During reassembly, the four adapter bolts are run down evenly and tightened in sequence: 5 Nm on the first pass, then 15 Nm on the final pass. Is this a recall, and how many cars are affected?
No recall campaign is identified in the available reporting. Road & Track describes PIP6132 as a service bulletin: guidance for service departments that encounter the condition, not a recall notice. GM said that “a limited number” of engines may be affected, but did not provide a count or failure rate. Road & Track, October 4, 2026
GM also said the issue “has been addressed” and that the bulletin reinforces guidance for service departments. That wording does not establish that every vehicle has already been inspected or repaired.

What should Corvette owners do?
If you see oil beneath a 2027 Corvette, or notice bubbling around the oil pan-to-adapter area, contact a Chevrolet dealer and ask whether PIP6132 applies to your vehicle. A dealer can confirm applicability and diagnose the source; visible oil alone does not prove this specific seal condition. GM advises customers with questions or concerns to contact a Chevrolet dealer. The bulletin explicitly says GM service bulletins are intended for professional technicians, not do-it-yourselfers, and cautions owners not to assume a bulletin applies to their vehicle. GM announced the 6.7-liter LS6 for the 2027 Corvette Stingray, Grand Sport, and Grand Sport X. GM lists output at 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, with a 13.0:1 compression ratio. Chevrolet’s Stingray specifications also describe a continuously variable oil pump. Those engine details provide context; they do not indicate how widespread the leak is.
