That description comes from a 2025 spy-photo report, not an official BMW specification, so the design remains unconfirmed.
What the X7 reportedly has in common with the Mustang
In an October 5, 2025 report, Carscoops writer Josh Byrnes interpreted spy photos as showing the next X7 with small winglets rising from the beltline in place of conventional door handles. Byrnes compared their styling to the Mustang Mach-E. The comparison is about appearance only: the report does not claim the BMW shares a platform, engine, or other technical component with the Ford.
The photographed detail is not a confirmed production feature. BMW has not established through the official model information cited here that the redesigned X7 will use these handles. The winglets—and whether they will reach production—should therefore be treated as reported design speculation, not a BMW announcement. Carscoops’ report is the source for the interpretation.

- X7 M60i: BMW lists a 523-horsepower 4.4-liter V8 and 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.
BMW’s official X7 model overview and US technical data cover the currently listed 2027 vehicles. They do not confirm the next generation’s styling, engines, or timing. BMW’s 2022 announcement documented those same powertrain outputs when describing the then-updated X7; it is historical context, not evidence of what the redesign will use. BMW Group’s 2022 release provides that earlier context.
What remains unconfirmed
The reported handle design and the timing of a redesigned X7 have not been established by the official BMW materials cited here. Carscoops’ additional predictions about the future model should likewise be treated as speculation unless BMW confirms them. For now, the most precise takeaway is a reported styling resemblance to the Mustang Mach-E—not a shared component or a confirmed X7 specification.
