The 2026 BMW lineup spans sedans, SUVs, coupes, convertibles and Touring models, with gasoline, plug-in hybrid and all-electric choices. Two models show how wide that range is: the all-electric i4 Gran Coupe, built around electric driving and charging, and the high-performance M3 sedan, offered with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. For U.S. shoppers, the useful starting point is the body style and powertrain that fit your needs—not a direct i4-versus-M3 contest.
How to narrow down the 2026 BMW lineup
BMW USA groups its models by body style and includes conventional, electrified and all-electric variants. Its lineup includes families such as the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 Series, SUVs from X1 through X7, and M models. Availability can change, so treat this as a model-year 2026 guide rather than a guarantee that every model or configuration is available at every dealer.
Start with the practical distinction that will shape your choice, then compare versions within that category:
- Body style and use: Choose among sedans and Gran Coupes, SUVs, coupes, convertibles and Touring models according to passenger and cargo needs.
- Powertrain: Decide whether you want gasoline, a plug-in hybrid or a battery-electric vehicle.
- Driven wheels: Depending on the model, BMW offers rear-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive.
- Ownership fit: For an EV, consider estimated range, charging access, connector and included equipment, as well as any home electrical work.
- Price and performance: Compare the displayed starting MSRP, horsepower and manufacturer acceleration figures for the specific model and configuration.
BMW USA’s starting MSRPs are orientation points, not guaranteed transaction prices. They exclude tax, title, license, registration and dealer adjustments; the dealer sets the actual sale price. Prices, offers, inventory and local availability can change, so contact a local BMW Center for a current quote.

How far can the 2026 BMW i4 go?
BMW USA lists two 2026 i4 Gran Coupe variants. Its estimated range is given as a band for each version, not a single promised everyday figure.
| 2026 i4 variant | BMW-estimated range | Drivetrain |
|---|---|---|
| i4 eDrive40 Gran Coupe | 307–333 miles | Not stated in the cited BMW range information |
| i4 xDrive40 Gran Coupe | 268–287 miles | xDrive all-wheel drive |
These are BMW estimates, not independent test results or a guarantee of real-world range. BMW says actual results depend on the model, wheel and tire selections, driving style, accessories, traffic, temperature and charging frequency. BMW also notes that a recently released model-year EV may not yet be fully EPA certified. Check the exact vehicle configuration and its current EPA listing before buying; do not assume the top of a range band is what you will achieve in everyday driving.

What should you know about charging a 2026 BMW i4 at home?
BMW says its Flexible Fast Charger is a Level 2 charger included with BMW EVs through model year 2026. BMW also offers an optional Wallbox for vehicles with J-1772/CCS charge ports. With the appropriate adapter and a recommended 240V outlet, BMW lists charging power of up to 9.6 kW for the Flexible Fast Charger or Wallbox.
A 240V outlet or BMW Wallbox installation requires a certified electrician. BMW identifies Qmerit as a service that can connect customers with a certified installer. Before buying separate charging equipment, check the exact i4 charge port and what equipment is included: the included charger may suit your needs, while a Wallbox is an optional convenience rather than an automatic requirement. Have a qualified electrician assess household electrical capacity and installation cost. Do not assume charging equipment or connector details for 2027 models apply to a 2026 vehicle.

What are the 2026 BMW M3 options and prices?
BMW USA lists three M3 sedan choices. The figures below are BMW’s U.S. starting MSRPs and manufacturer performance figures as listed in 2026. BMW says the 0–60 mph results are preliminary BMW AG test results; they can vary with vehicle specification, road and environmental conditions, testing procedures and driving style. They are useful for comparing the versions, not independently verified results.
| Model | Drivetrain | Horsepower | BMW-listed 0–60 mph | Starting MSRP (U.S.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M3 Sedan | Rear-wheel drive | 473 hp | 4.1 seconds | $79,300 |
| M3 Competition Sedan | Rear-wheel drive | 503 hp | 3.8 seconds | $83,500 |
| M3 Competition xDrive Sedan | All-wheel drive | 523 hp | 3.4 seconds | $88,600 |
What is the difference between the M3 and M3 Competition?
The standard M3 is the lower-priced entry in this three-car M3 range and uses rear-wheel drive. The rear-wheel-drive M3 Competition adds power and has a quicker BMW-listed 0–60 mph estimate. The M3 Competition xDrive adds all-wheel drive, has the highest listed output and carries the quickest listed acceleration estimate. BMW describes M xDrive as using adjustable power-distribution modes and supporting traction and acceleration. The right fit depends on whether you prioritize the lower starting price, the Competition’s added power, or the xDrive model’s all-wheel-drive configuration.

Yes. The M3 Competition xDrive Sedan is the all-wheel-drive M3 in BMW USA’s listed 2026 range. The standard M3 and rear-wheel-drive M3 Competition are the alternatives if you want rear-wheel drive.
Is an M Sport package the same as a full M model?
No. BMW distinguishes full M models, which it describes as engineered for performance driving, from M Sport packages, which add selected design and equipment to core models. An M Sport package does not make a core BMW model a full M car.
