The headline output is 470 kW (639 PS) for the hybrid system. That is metric horsepower; Car and Driver describes the U.S. car as a 630-hp-class plug-in hybrid. Audi’s own headline figure is 639 PS, not 639 U.S. mechanical horsepower.

What the electric-range figure does—and does not—tell U.S. buyers
The 84-km figure is a European WLTP estimate, with Audi quoting up to 87 km in city driving. Neither number is a U.S. EPA rating, and the cited material does not establish an EPA range for the American car. They also do not, by themselves, establish how quickly the RS 5 can charge: no charging time or U.S.-market charging specification is stated here.

How the RS 5’s quattro system works
Audi’s dynamics description highlights quattro with Dynamic Torque Control and electromechanical torque vectoring in the rear transaxle. Audi calls that rear-transaxle arrangement a “world first” for a production model. The system coordinates the drivetrain and suspension through the car’s high-performance computing architecture; the announcement describes the technology but does not provide a measured handling comparison against a rival.
Is the RS 5 Avant coming to the U.S.?
Reporting from Autoblog says the RS 5 Avant will not be sold in America. That leaves the Sedan as the expected U.S. body style, despite Audi offering both Sedan and Avant versions globally. The Avant remains part of the announced European range.

When will the 2027 Audi RS 5 reach the U.S.?
Car and Driver identifies the U.S. car as the 2027 Audi RS 5, indicating a U.S.-market model-year plan rather than a confirmed showroom date. The cited official announcement does not give U.S. order dates or delivery timing.
For Europe, Audi said orders would open in the first quarter of 2026, with deliveries expected in summer 2026. Those were the timelines Audi stated at the February 19 announcement; they are not U.S. dates, and the cited material does not confirm whether European deliveries began as forecast.

What will the U.S. RS 5 cost?
Audi announced German starting prices of €106,200 for the RS 5 Sedan and €107,850 for the Avant. These are Germany-specific prices, not U.S. MSRPs, and should not be converted into a U.S. price. The cited material does not provide American pricing.
