Engine and transmission
The Trident 800 uses a liquid-cooled 798cc three-cylinder engine with 12 valves and double overhead camshafts. Triumph’s detailed specification rates it at 115PS (113bhp, or 84.6kW) at 10,750rpm and 84Nm at 8,500rpm. The US product page expresses the output as 113hp and 62lb-ft. Triumph lists a redline of 11,500rpm and describes the engine as having strong mid-range delivery; that description is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independent ride assessment.
A six-speed gearbox is paired with Triumph Shift Assist for clutchless upshifts and downshifts, as well as a slip-and-assist clutch. The launch material also specifies triple throttle bodies.

Seat height, weight and rider fit
Triumph gives the seat height as 810mm and the fully fueled weight as 198kg. The company describes the split seat and narrow standover as intended to help rider fit, but neither figure alone determines whether the bike will feel comfortable: inseam, leg reach and personal preference matter. Sit on the motorcycle and check your reach at a dealer if fit is important to your decision.
What the published specifications establish—and what they do not
The official material establishes the Trident 800’s listed engine figures, chassis components, dimensions, equipment and market-specific launch prices. It does not provide independent measured acceleration, fuel economy, real-world comfort impressions or a comparative test against other middleweight nakeds. Triumph’s launch announcement presents the bike as a step up in capability and technology; that is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent verdict. A useful comparison with another model requires checking that model’s current local price, specification, warranty and ownership costs as well.
