For $700 more than the listed starting price of the Scrambler 400 X, the XC adds side-laced spoked wheels with tubeless tires and adventure-style protection and trim. Those features signal a more off-road-oriented package, but specifications alone do not establish how it performs on real trails.
What is the Scrambler 400 XC?
Triumph announced the XC on July 8, 2025, as an expansion of its 400cc Modern Classic range alongside the Scrambler 400 X. The company said North American availability would begin in September 2025; its current US product page identifies the motorcycle as the 2026 Scrambler 400 XC. Triumph’s launch announcement described the XC as a higher-equipment version with a more adventure-oriented appearance.
The name and added hardware should not be mistaken for evidence of competition-enduro capability. Triumph’s published features support an off-road-oriented description, but they are not a substitute for independent trail testing.
How much does the Scrambler 400 XC cost in the US?
Triumph’s US listing starts the 2026 Scrambler 400 XC at $6,895. The US Scrambler 400 X listing starts at $6,195, making the published starting-price difference $700. These are manufacturer-listed starting prices, not dealer out-the-door quotes; taxes, fees, availability, and specifications can vary. Check Triumph’s current US XC model page and confirm the details with a local authorized dealer before buying.

What distinguishes the XC from the Scrambler 400 X?
The most obvious hardware distinction is the XC’s side-laced spoked wheels, with aluminum rims and tubeless tires. Triumph describes the 400 X as using lightweight cast V-spoke aluminum wheels. Both models retain 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel sizing in the cited US product information.

Prices and equipment in this comparison are from Triumph’s US pages: XC listing and 400 X listing. It is not a complete equipment audit, and the price difference by itself does not establish that every other component is identical.

What are the Scrambler 400 XC’s published specifications?
The figures below are manufacturer-published specifications for the US model, not independent measurements. Market-specific versions may differ; consult the current local listing for the motorcycle you intend to purchase. Triumph’s XC product details give the following engine and chassis information.
| Item | Published specification |
|---|---|
| Engine | 398cc, liquid-cooled TR-series single |
| Maximum power | 39.5 hp at 8,000 rpm |
| Maximum torque | 27.7 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm |
| Transmission | Six-speed gearbox; slip-and-assist clutch |

| Rear suspension | Preload-adjustable monoshock with piggy-back reservoir |
| Front wheel | 19 inches |
| Tires | Tubeless Metzeler Karoo Street |
| Seat height | 835 mm |
Triumph also lists ride-by-wire throttle and a cockpit-mounted USB-C socket. The power and torque figures describe peak output at the stated engine speeds; they do not, by themselves, show how the bike feels at low speeds or on a particular surface.

Is the Scrambler 400 XC good off road?
The published equipment gives the XC a clearer off-road focus than a purely road-styled motorcycle: it has tubeless spoked wheels, protective hardware, and an off-road ABS mode. Triumph says that mode disables rear-wheel ABS intervention, and lists switchable traction control. These are features, not independent proof of trail performance.
The available manufacturer information does not establish comparative handling, suspension performance on rough trails, or suitability for a particular rider or route. A test ride can help assess seat reach, comfort, and low-speed feel, but riders should evaluate trail capability against the terrain and their own experience rather than infer it from the styling or specification sheet.

What warranty and service schedule does Triumph list?
For the US XC, Triumph lists a 2-year unlimited-mileage warranty and scheduled service every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. Warranty terms and maintenance requirements should be checked in the documents for the buyer’s country and model year; do not assume the US terms apply everywhere.
Quick Recap
What to check before buying
- Confirm the local price, taxes, dealer fees, availability, colors, and market-specific specification with Triumph or an authorized dealer.
- Arrange a test ride to judge reach, comfort, and low-speed behavior for yourself.
- If attending a ride event, check its current eligibility and equipment rules. Triumph’s 2025 North American demo-day guidance required a valid motorcycle endorsement, DOT-certified helmet, motorcycle jacket, riding pants, gloves, and over-ankle boots; that historical event guidance does not mean gear is included with the motorcycle or that the event is currently available.
- Verify warranty and service terms for the relevant market and model year.
