What changed after the 2026 C-HR EV launch?
Toyota’s February 18, 2026 announcement said the all-new battery-electric C-HR was expected at U.S. dealerships in March 2026. The vehicle is no longer merely an upcoming launch: Toyota announced the 2027 model on August 6, 2026, calling it the second model year of the BEV and saying, “The 2027 model remains unchanged from the previous model year.” Toyota expected 2027 grades to begin arriving in September 2026. Toyota’s 2027 announcement gives the SE a starting MSRP of $37,080, excluding dealer processing and handling fees.
How far can the C-HR EV travel on a charge?
The range depends on trim. Toyota’s 2027 model page describes the ratings as EPA-estimated; its 2027 announcement calls them manufacturer-estimated. Toyota’s 2026 FAQ says its range ratings use EPA preliminary testing procedure standards for a fully charged vehicle operated under ideal conditions, and are intended for comparison. They are estimates, not a promise of the distance a particular driver will travel.

Prices and specifications are from Toyota’s 2027 model page, published in 2026; the newsroom announcement says dealer processing and handling fees are excluded. The two-mileage ratings should not be treated as equivalent: the 287-mile figure applies to SE, while XSE is rated at 273 miles. Why real-world range can differ
Toyota identifies speed, outside temperature, accessory use, where and how the vehicle is driven, charging habits, and battery capacity decline over time and use as factors that can affect range. A driver should therefore use the EPA-related figure to compare vehicles, not plan every trip around a guaranteed 287 miles.
What are the C-HR EV’s key specifications?
Toyota lists the 2027 C-HR with standard all-wheel drive, a 74.7-kWh battery, and 338 net combined system horsepower. Toyota estimates 0–60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The manufacturer lists up to 59.5 cubic feet of cargo volume with the rear seats folded. Its onboard AC charger is rated at 11 kW. How do you charge the Toyota C-HR EV?
The C-HR includes a dual-voltage charging cable for 120-volt Level 1 and 240-volt Level 2 AC charging. For Level 2 charging at home with the included cable, Toyota says a 240-volt NEMA 14-50 outlet is required. Toyota advises using a licensed electrician to install an outlet or home charger.
- Level 1: Use a suitable household 120-volt outlet with the included cable. Toyota does not provide a charging-time estimate for this method in the cited specifications.
- Level 2: Charge from a 240-volt outlet using the included cable, or use compatible home or public charging equipment. Toyota estimates around seven hours from 10% to 100%; actual time can vary.
- DC fast charging: Toyota estimates around 30 minutes from 10% to 80% under ideal conditions on compatible equipment. The vehicle has a NACS charging port.
Toyota says included adapters allow the C-HR to use J1772 equipment for AC charging and CCS1 equipment for DC fast charging. The company also says its app can locate public charging, including Tesla Superchargers; some app charging features require an active Remote Connect trial or subscription. Do you need to buy a home charger?
Not necessarily. The included cable supports Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging, so an additional charger is optional rather than required. A compatible J1772 Level 2 home charger is another option, but confirm that any equipment works with the C-HR and meets your home’s electrical requirements. Have a licensed electrician assess installation needs.

The SE has the higher listed range and lower starting MSRP. The XSE costs $2,000 more according to Toyota’s 2027 model-page MSRPs, but its additional trim equipment may matter more to some buyers than the lower range rating. Choose based on your priorities and charging routine; compare the exact equipment included on each grade before deciding.
