Shelby rates its supercharged 5.0-liter V8 at more than 850 flywheel horsepower on 93-octane fuel in the United States. That is a manufacturer rating, not an independently verified wheel-horsepower figure, and available materials do not establish that the car is faster around a circuit than its rivals.
What is the 2026 Shelby Super Snake-R?
Shelby American starts with a 2026 Mustang Dark Horse fastback and adds its own body, chassis, powertrain and interior equipment. Shelby describes the result as track focused. It is a Shelby conversion, not a standalone Ford Mustang model.
The package includes metallic widebody panels, carbon-fiber components, a rear pedestal wing and a rear-seat delete. Inside, Shelby adds its own trim. The published curb weight is 4,004 pounds; Shelby’s August 13, 2025 announcement says that is 116 pounds more than the Dark Horse base car.
How much power does it make?
Shelby specifies a Gen 4 Ford Coyote 5.0-liter V8 fitted with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger system developed for the car. The company rates output at more than 850 flywheel horsepower with 93-octane fuel in the United States. Shelby says its ratings for Europe and other markets use 98-octane fuel. The figure is Shelby’s claim; the materials cited here do not provide an independent dyno measurement.

What equipment is included?
Chassis, brakes and cooling
Shelby lists adjustable coil-over suspension, front and rear sway bars, caster/camber plates, a performance radiator, two-piece slotted brake rotors, performance half shafts and a harness-bar cross member. These are track-oriented components, but the published specifications do not quantify how much they change lap times or braking performance.
Wheels and tires
The August 2025 announcement specifies 335/35-20 Michelin tires. Shelby’s product page lists proprietary forged magnesium wheels attributed to MP Wheels, measuring 20 x 11 inches at the front and 20 x 13 inches at the rear. Shelby claims the wheels reduce rotational mass by 36.75 pounds in total, or about 9 pounds per corner; that is the manufacturer’s stated figure, not an independently verified measurement.

Transmission and Dark Horse configuration
Shelby lists a Tremec TR-3160 six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic. Its configurator also shows 600A and 700A Dark Horse chassis configurations. The available information does not establish a handling or lap-time advantage for either chassis configuration. Compare the equipment and get a configuration-specific quote rather than assuming the options are interchangeable.
Is it proven to slay the track?
The Super Snake-R is equipped and marketed for track use, but the performance claim needs a boundary: Shelby’s product materials, announcement and brochure do not provide independent lap times, instrumented acceleration or braking results, or a comparison test against competing cars.

Shelby American president Gary Patterson said the car “simply has the best handling prowess that we’ve ever offered in the history of the car.” That is an executive’s assessment, not a result from independent testing. Buyers can evaluate the listed hardware and Shelby’s design intent, but the available evidence does not establish that the Super Snake-R is quicker on a circuit or superior to another track car.
How much does it cost, and can you order one?
Shelby’s August 2025 announcement lists a starting price of $224,995, including a 600A Ford Mustang Dark Horse. It is a published starting price, not an out-the-door quote; options, configuration and other costs may affect the amount a buyer pays.

Shelby’s vehicle page currently says “Reservation List has Closed” and directs customers to authorized distributors in the United States and select international locations. A closed reservation list does not confirm whether distributor inventory exists. Check directly with an authorized distributor for current stock, final pricing and ordering terms.

Shelby lists a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty. Its announcement says Ford’s powertrain warranty remains intact, while the build configurator cautions that equipment may void factory powertrain coverage and that the supercharger is not included in certain states. The coverage a buyer actually receives therefore depends on the configuration and jurisdiction. Review the written warranty and vehicle-specific terms with the seller before purchase.
