These are performance trucks built for different jobs. The 2026 Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport is a lowered, two-door regular-cab street truck based on a Ford F-150 XL 4×4. The 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT is a four-door crew-cab truck engineered for high-speed off-road driving. Shelby advertises 400 hp in standard form and 810-plus hp with an optional, post-title supercharger; Ram lists 777 hp from its factory supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8. Choose the Shelby for road-focused acceleration and a compact two-seat layout, or the TRX SRT for suspension travel, ground clearance, terrain modes and usable rear-seat space.
What is being compared?
The name “Super Snake” covers more than one Shelby pickup. This comparison concerns the 2026 Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport, not Shelby’s separate four-door Super Snake. Shelby identifies the Sport as a two-door regular-cab build using a 2026 F-150 XL 4×4 chassis with a 5.0-liter V8. Its published starting price is $115,795, including that chassis. The current Ram counterpart is the 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT, a four-door crew-cab model with full-time four-wheel drive and a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8.

The model years matter: the Shelby is a 2026 vehicle and the Ram is a 2027 vehicle. They are also not equivalent chassis conversions. One is deliberately lowered and tuned for pavement; the other is designed to absorb rough terrain at speed. Horsepower alone therefore gives an incomplete answer.

Powertrains and performance claims
Shelby: two very different power levels
The Super Snake Sport’s standard 5.0-liter V8 is listed at 400 hp. Shelby also offers a Stage 2 supercharger rated at 810-plus hp. That larger number is not the standard output of every Sport truck: Shelby says the supercharger is sold for post-title installation or sale, and the rating is based on 93-octane fuel. A buyer must therefore confirm whether a particular truck includes the supercharger, whether it is installed after titling, and what fuel and warranty terms apply.
The difference between 400 hp and 810-plus hp is more consequential than the nominal 33-hp advantage over Ram. Comparing Shelby’s optional 810-plus-hp figure with Ram’s factory 777 hp compares an optional, post-title configuration with a production configuration. Comparing standard Shelby output with the TRX SRT’s 777 hp produces an even larger gap. State the configuration whenever quoting the Shelby number.
Ram: one factory supercharged specification
Ram rates the 2027 TRX SRT’s supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 at 777 hp and 680 lb-ft. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. Ram claims 0–60 mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 118 mph. Those times and speeds come from Ram’s performance page, not an independent instrumented comparison with the Shelby.
Because the TRX SRT’s output is a factory-listed specification, the 777-hp figure is easier to interpret as delivered equipment than Shelby’s optional 810-plus-hp rating. It still does not prove which truck is quicker in every situation: tire choice, surface, launch procedure, temperature, fuel and vehicle mass all affect an acceleration run.
What the numbers can and cannot tell you
- The Shelby’s highest advertised horsepower is 33 hp above Ram’s listed output, but only with the optional supercharger and 93-octane fuel.
- The Shelby’s 400-hp standard configuration is not a like-for-like power match for the supercharged TRX SRT.
- Ram’s 3.5-second 0–60 claim cannot be used as a measured Shelby-versus-Ram result because Shelby does not publish a comparable figure in the cited material.
- No evidence here establishes comparative braking distance, passing acceleration, fuel economy or real-world range.
Street handling versus high-speed off-road ability
How Shelby sets up the Sport
Shelby describes the Super Snake Sport as a street truck. Its equipment list includes a lowered adjustable suspension, performance tires, traction bars and upgraded performance rotors. Lowering the body and using road-oriented tires generally serve pavement control and visual stance, while traction bars and larger rotors address power delivery and repeated braking. Shelby does not publish exact ride height, suspension-travel figures or a braking distance in the cited material, so those measurements should not be inferred from the equipment names.

- Brand new box. Real rubber tires. Folding side mirrors. Has opening front doors. Detailed interior, exterior. Made of diecast with some plastic parts. Dimensions approximately L-8.5, W-3.75, H-2.75 inches.
The regular-cab layout also contributes to the Sport’s street identity. There is less cab volume and fewer doors than in the Ram, but the shorter passenger compartment can suit a driver who treats the truck as a two-seat performance vehicle rather than family transportation.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow Ram prepares the TRX SRT
Ram’s TRX SRT specification is built around speed over loose and uneven surfaces. Ram lists 11.8 inches of ground clearance, 13 inches of front suspension travel and 14 inches of rear travel. Those dimensions provide room for wheel movement and reduce the chance of striking the underbody when the truck crosses ruts, whoops or rocks.
The drive-mode menu includes Baja, Rock, Mud/Sand, Snow and Sport. These modes are intended for different traction and throttle conditions rather than simply changing an engine map. Baja targets fast desert-style running; Rock and Mud/Sand address low-grip or uneven terrain; Snow softens responses for slippery surfaces; Sport is the road-performance setting. The truck’s full-time four-wheel-drive system remains part of this off-road package.
Why suspension architecture changes the decision
A lowered street suspension and long-travel off-road suspension optimize opposing priorities. The Shelby’s setup is intended to keep the body controlled on asphalt and pair with performance tires. The Ram’s clearance and travel prioritize tire contact and impact absorption away from smooth pavement. Neither specification is universally better: a driver who spends nearly all of the time on roads may find the TRX’s off-road hardware unnecessary, while a driver who regularly attacks trails or desert roads would have little use for a lowered street stance.
Cab layout and everyday utility
Shelby’s two-door regular cab
The 2026 Sport is a two-door regular cab. That makes access to the front seats straightforward but limits passenger accommodation compared with a crew cab. The cited Shelby material does not establish seating capacity, bed dimensions, payload or towing ratings, so those details should be confirmed on the vehicle’s build sheet and with the selling dealer rather than estimated from the underlying F-150 name.

The 2027 TRX SRT uses a four-door crew-cab body. Rear-door access and a larger passenger compartment make it the more practical choice for adults, child seats or equipment that must stay inside the cab. Ram publishes a maximum payload of 1,220 pounds and maximum towing capacity of 8,100 pounds for the TRX SRT. These are TRX-specific ratings, not the highest numbers advertised for every Ram 1500 variant.

That utility does not make the two trucks interchangeable. The Shelby’s exact towing and payload ratings are not established in the cited sources, and the underlying XL 4×4 chassis may have configuration-dependent limits. Obtain the VIN-specific payload label and the tow-rating documentation before matching either truck to a trailer.
Price, warranty and availability
Shelby’s published price and coverage
Shelby lists a starting price of $115,795 for the 2026 Super Snake Sport, including the 2026 XL 4×4 chassis. The figure is a starting price, not a promise that every option, delivery charge, tax or dealer fee is included. The optional supercharger can change the final cost, and Shelby identifies it as a post-title sale. Shelby also lists a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty for the original owner; ask how that coverage applies to the supercharger and any installation performed after title transfer.
Shelby’s July 30, 2026 announcement says production is limited to 500 trucks. The company says sales run through select Shelby Performance Ford dealers in the United States, so availability may depend on allocation rather than a normal factory-order queue. The announcement includes a statement from Shelby American CEO Joe Conway: “Carroll Shelby was an innovator throughout his amazing life.” Read the official announcement for the production and distribution context.

The cited Ram pages establish the 2027 TRX SRT’s specifications and ordering announcement but do not establish a directly comparable official MSRP. Do not treat the Shelby’s $115,795 starting price as proof that one truck is cheaper. Ask a Ram dealer for the current window sticker, destination charge, options, taxes and dealer fees for the exact TRX SRT being offered.

Which truck fits which driver?
Choose the Shelby Sport when road performance is the priority
- You want a two-door, regular-cab performance truck rather than a family-oriented crew cab.
- Your driving is overwhelmingly on paved roads and you value a lowered, adjustable suspension, performance tires and upgraded rotors.
- You are comfortable deciding between the 400-hp standard truck and the 810-plus-hp supercharged option, including the 93-octane requirement.
- The limited 500-truck production run and Shelby dealer network are part of the appeal.
- The published $115,795 starting price fits your budget before options, delivery and local charges.
Choose the TRX SRT when terrain capability is the priority
- You need four doors and a crew-cab interior for regular rear-seat passengers.
- You plan to drive quickly on dirt, sand, rocks or rough trails where clearance and suspension travel matter.
- You want factory-listed 777-hp output, 680 lb-ft, full-time four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic without relying on a post-title power upgrade.
- The 11.8-inch clearance, 13-inch front travel, 14-inch rear travel and terrain modes match your driving environment.
- You need the published 1,220-pound payload or 8,100-pound towing capacity, subject to the exact truck’s ratings and equipment.
When neither is an obvious match
If you need a work truck with a known payload, a long bed, maximum towing or low operating costs, neither vehicle should be selected from horsepower figures alone. The Shelby’s cited material does not provide its payload or tow rating, while the TRX SRT’s off-road hardware can be unnecessary for a purely urban commute. Obtain configuration-specific documents and compare insurance, tires, fuel and service costs before signing.

How to evaluate a truck at the dealer
- Confirm the model year and body. Verify that the Shelby is a 2026 Super Snake Sport two-door regular cab and that the Ram is a 2027 TRX SRT four-door crew cab. Do not accept a listing that simply says “Super Snake” or “TRX” without the full designation.
- Record the power configuration. On the Shelby, note whether the truck is standard 400 hp or has the Stage 2 supercharger, whether the work is post-title, and which warranty documents apply. On the Ram, verify the factory supercharged 6.2-liter engine and the stated 777-hp specification.
- Check the window sticker and VIN labels. Confirm the price, destination charge, options, payload label, tire information and any dealer-installed equipment. A model-level web page cannot replace the ratings for one VIN.
- Match the suspension to your route. Inspect the Shelby’s lowered setup for driveway, ramp and speed-bump clearance. For the Ram, ask which terrain modes are available on the delivered truck and inspect the underbody, tires and recovery points if off-road use is planned.
- Ask for written warranty terms. Shelby’s listed coverage is three years/36,000 miles for the original owner. Obtain the Ram warranty booklet and clarify coverage for performance use, modifications, tires and any dealer-installed accessories.
- Arrange an appropriate test drive. Evaluate steering, ride, visibility, brake feel and cab access on pavement. Do not attempt an off-road test without the owner’s permission, suitable insurance and a controlled route; a dealership drive cannot reproduce the full desert or trail capability claimed for the TRX SRT.
- Price the complete purchase. Add taxes, registration, delivery, financing, insurance, fuel and replacement tires. For the Shelby, include the supercharger decision and 93-octane fuel in the budget. For the Ram, obtain a current written quote because a comparable official MSRP was not established in the cited material.
What has not been proven by the published figures
No source cited here provides an independent, same-day test of these exact 2026 and 2027 vehicles. There is no verified head-to-head result for 0–60 mph, quarter-mile time, braking distance, cornering, fuel economy, range or ride quality. Ram’s 3.5-second acceleration and 118-mph top speed are manufacturer claims. Shelby’s 810-plus-hp number is a manufacturer rating for the optional supercharger on 93-octane fuel, not a dyno result shared under a common test protocol.

Bottom line
The 2026 Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport and 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT are alternatives only if you first define “performance.” Shelby’s two-door, lowered F-150 is the specialized street choice, with 400 hp standard, an optional 810-plus-hp post-title supercharger, a $115,795 starting price and a 500-truck production limit. Ram’s four-door TRX SRT is the practical high-speed off-road choice, pairing 777 hp and 680 lb-ft with full-time four-wheel drive, terrain modes, 11.8 inches of clearance and long-travel suspension. The published data supports a use-case decision, not a measured overall winner.
Frequently Asked Questions
