Ram announced a $62,410 starting price including destination with Big Horn Level 1 equipment on March 16, 2026, and said orders were open then. That announcement is a dated price and availability snapshot, not a check of current dealer inventory or pricing.
What the BackCountry is—and where it fits
BackCountry is an equipment package for the Ram 1500 Big Horn 4×4 Crew Cab, rather than a separate underlying trim. Ram describes it as sitting between the Warlock and the more premium Rebel in its off-road lineup. That establishes its place in Ram’s range, but not a measured ranking of capability or value against either truck.
What off-road equipment comes with it
- A one-inch suspension lift and heavy-duty shocks.
- Skid plates protecting the front underbody, power steering rack, transfer case and fuel tank.
- Front tow hooks and a rear electronic locking differential. When disengaged, the differential functions as an anti-spin differential.
- Selec-Speed off-road cruise control.

These are the listed equipment specifications, not results from an independent off-road test. The available sources do not establish instrumented performance or a BackCountry-specific towing or payload rating.
Exterior and cabin details
The exterior treatment includes a body-color grille surround and accents, Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat lower body and bumpers, contrasting black fender flares, Satin Black wheels, and black badging and lighting bezels.

Inside, the package adds durable vinyl bucket seats with alloy-printed mesh inserts, MOLLE seatback storage panels and all-weather rubber mats. The cabin equipment group affects additional comfort and technology features:

Ram’s announced $62,410 starting price was based on Big Horn Level 1 equipment, so it should not be read as the price of a truck configured with Level 2.

Engine choices
Ram lists two powertrains for the BackCountry: a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with eTorque, or the 3.0-liter standard-output Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six. The sources reviewed do not establish BackCountry-specific real-world fuel economy.
Price and order availability
In its March 16, 2026 announcement, Ram listed the BackCountry package at $2,995 and the truck’s starting price at $62,410 including destination, with Big Horn Level 1 equipment. Ram’s “between Warlock and Rebel” positioning is useful as a quick guide to where BackCountry sits in the range. The documented equipment gives a clearer basis for evaluating it: compare the underlying trim, included trail hardware, cabin group, engine choice and the price available for the exact configuration. The available evidence does not support a claim that BackCountry is more capable, less expensive or a better value than either neighboring model.
